VNYL seems to be more for people who are interested in broadening their music tastes rather than people who want specific artists/albums. I don't understand how people go into a subscription knowing they're probably going to get music they haven't heard before and then complain.

I have an idea. Stop using record subscriptions and go to your local indie record store, tell the guy behind the desk what you like and ask for suggestions. Support those cool dudes instead of the douches at VNYL.
Ethan Price oh I definitely do without a doubt. It just is a shitty thing to get a box that wasn't necessarily what they marketed themselves or for. The video was for others more than me in the end.
I signed up and they took money for three months without sending me ANYTHING. When I brought it to their attention they gave me "store credit" that can't be used for a subscription. So basically they just...took $100 from me and gave me nothing. Would warn everyone to stay away from them.
I just got my box and same deal /:. The only one I wanted was the troye Sivan one but I picked it out. Then they gave me taking back Sunday???? I've never once mentioned I liked them (bc I don't) and there was no good explanation in my card. I like pop music. Then they gave me that same Ryan Adams's one. I completely agree with you. Like vnyl is a cool subscription but I feel like they only truly cater to a specific audience. And don't really curate as well as they say they do. Like it's mostly for people who like that folk, indie alternative type of music. I like pop and r&b and hip hop or really old crooners music that would all be more likely to be on vinyl but they just have a very small amount of genres of music & don't cater to all as well as they make it seem

I feel like I'm one of the few people in the comments who's never had a problem with my subscription and always gotten records that I liked from it even if they weren't my usual genre. Idk. I've had it for almost a year now and every month they give me something from a band I already love, something new from the genres I like, or something from the vibe I picked, and I've never gotten anything really out of my comfort zone entirely. Makes me a little sad, haha.
Can't believe they sent you the same order as someone else!!! That's so dishonest. I'm mad because I order from them too but I'm not sure I want dishonest people to have my money.
Some problem for me. Chose a vibe that they included a playlist for, and it had jazz and stuff. Get the package, and it's a bunch of lackluster alt rock. It's basically like they just threw overstock from their inventory into a box and sent it. It's like, why bother having us tell you about what we like if you're not going to care anyways?
Cappy The Rat yeah! That's another thing I forgot about. I would listen to the Spotify playlist they gave and would really like them. And then got nothing that matched.
I'm late af but thanks for this video. I recently got a record player like two months ago because I wanted to start collecting heavy metal records. But I'm super eclectic music wise and thought vnyl would be really cool to help expand my growing collection. Its been two months and I haven't gotten anything so I cancelled the subscription. Really sad tbh. I'm like binge watching review videos and it seems to he unanimous that they suck.
honestly the best thing to do is use itunes/Spotify (or what ever you use for music sevice.) and start new radios on there and explore different bands then once you have found some cool new ones. head over to discogs and research if there have been records pressed of those artist and which versions
Wish I would've watched this! Just got Lissie, Bastille, and Avid Dancers, and I dislike Bastille and avid, probably got those because they were left over. Wow what a ripoff.
I'm pretty sure Bastille is not a leftover, a lot of people buy and I know personally I'd love to have one so it's just a question of music taste. I don't know about Avid Dancers though…
I've been considering this subscription service for a while but since I live in Australia, I'll have to pay $30 extra for each shipment. You've definitely gained a new subscriber here!! :)
I feel like the whole subscription box thing is that it's a mystery. And they want to broaden your horizon for music. All the bad reviews I've seen is because people are upset they got something they don't like. smh
Thank you for posting this video! After watching your video and some others, I have decided to take a pass on a record subscription. Thank you, and other UA-camrs for saving me some money, and frustration! Keep up the great work!
uggh. I foolishly got the 3 month plan (it was only $50 though for a Valentine's special) it wasnt until after i saw all the "reviews" that i realized they probably wont cater to my tastes. oh well. lesson learned.
I just placed my first order from them with this $20 promotion they had. Kinda bummed to hear this from you and others especially now that you have to pick a #vibe. Hopefully my box comes with some cool stuff if not I'll unsub.

And then got nothing that matched.
the bon iver, mumford and sons, and luminears coming all together looks cool but this service is mostly bullshit
All the bad reviews I've seen is because people are upset they got something they don't like. smh
Can't believe they did that
Good to know I was curious about vnyl.
This was really helpful and I also appreciate the macho flair
OMG BOYCOTT VNYL !!!
WORST COMPANY EVER!
Buy a real record player.
ThatPunkJames Sure. Wanna buy it for me?
I'm serious man. Buy a real record player with real speakers and everything. You can get an audio technica lp-60 for super cheap from barnes and noble
The LP60 is a shit record player to tho xD
shit compared to what? It's a decent little player for someone who only casually listens.
its amazing compared to a damn crosley
Those look like great albums! I might check this subscription out.
I feel the same exact way
It’s a really good concept but this service is awful
Damn i expected a lot of hate in the comment section coming from a very homophobic región (Latinoamerica)
Awesone video btw
wow, very helpful. thank you.
I just placed my first order from them with this $20 promotion they had. Kinda bummed to hear this from you and others especially now that you have to pick a #vibe. Hopefully my box comes with some cool stuff if not I'll unsub.
Hope you actually enjoyed Ryan Adams... he's great!
I just got my #electricfeelz in the mail. Big data rocks. Cant wait for #Rocktober.!!!!!!!!!
RedPillorBluePill these ones are all prepicked though. Glad you enjoy though!
you’ve gained another sub
i love flume :)
