    DOWNLOAD SLICER
    sketchucation....
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    This week’s extension allows you to take a model and slice it up into pieces, allowing for interesting new looks and options.
    Plugin Name: Slicer
    Plugin Developer: TIG
    How Much does it cost? Free! (Don’t forget to donate to your developer!)
    Tool Functions
    This extension allows you to take any solid object and slice it up into pieces.
    Please note that it will only work with solids.
    The way it works is it takes a group of geometry and allows you to select the axes you’d like to slice it along, along with the spacing and thickness of your slices.
    Slicer allows you to slice a model along the X,Y, and Z axes, along with custom axes.
    Not only can you slice your model, but if you select the flatten object, slicer will actually lay out all the different pieces it creates as components. These pieces can actually be exported to a CNC router if you wanted to create your objects in real life.
    Note that sometimes when you’re creating your slices, your model can get a little unstable, so make sure to save a copy before running slicer.
    That’s where we’re going to wrap up this plugin overview. If you liked this video, click that like button down below. If you’re new, click that subscribe button for more SketchUp videos every week.
    As always, leave a comment below and let me know if you’re using this tool and how.
    Finally, please consider supporting me on Patreon. As you know, The SketchUp essentials is a side project for me, and a lot of these tools and extensions cost money. By supporting me on Patreon, you help me be able to purchase licenses for new softwares to keep bringing you new plugin reviews and other SketchUp content. Even a dollar a month helps.

    Hi Justin thank you for your great videos they're very helpful.. Ive been trying to slice a model made soap and bubble plugin, even though I closed it from all sides it still says its not a 'manifold' solid. is there a way to turn the model into a 'manifold' solid..( like turning into a component ) ? and thanks again

      Oh - by the way - I saw your post on your Facebook about your castle model running slow on your PC - have you tried putting some of the high polygon items on the interior on a layer and turning it off when you're not using them? That way your PC won't have to deal with quite as much geometry. I know how frustrating it can be sometimes when models run slow!

      For actually slicing your models, you may want to look at something like Zorro2 - ua-cam.com/video/1g7RC65ClFw/v-deo.html - It might do what you're looking for! Thanks for watching!

      Also, the issue probably comes from that my object is made with ClothWorks. I add thickness etc. but this bug appears. The object disappears as well when the object is rotated on 45 and Slicer5 is set up on X or Y.

    I have been trying to download and install slicer or slicemodeler. Once I downloaded slicemodeler, I went into sketchup and then to windows, then preferences, extensions, and then I clicked on Install Extentions. It took me to a folder that had a file in it named "flightofideas.rbz" I clicked on it and something installed into sketchup, but it did not have the "slicer" title that appears on your in your video. It had SVG in the title. I am using the 2016 version of sketchup if that helps any in answering my question. Also, I an using Windows on a PC. Then I tried just dragging and dropping. I went to Program Files, then Sketchup, then Tools. I dragged and dropped both Slicemodeler and then Slicer into Tools. I shut down and restarted my computer and restarted Sketchup. I went to Tools at the top menu and I don't see either Slicemodeler or Slicer. When I was going through this process, it seemed to be working correctly. The little box asking me if I trusted the author popped up and also the one that says something about "administrator." I never got a message that said it didn't install. Can you help me get this installed correctly? I followed instructions I found online and thought I was doing it correctly. Thanks. Rachel

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 років тому

      I don't know anything about slicemodeler, just Slicer, but it sounds like you got the wrong .rbz file, because I have no idea what the "flightofideas.rbz" file is. Try downloading the file from this link - sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG_Slicer - and try downloading and installing that file and let me know if it works. Thanks!

    • @HavenLily

      Thank you. I figured out that slicemodeler no longer works. I downloaded slicer yesterday and it installed with no problem. I know nothing about sketchup. I want to use it to make sliceforms. How did you get the surface into sketchup that you are working on? Could you direct me to a video that explains that? I plan to start watching you videos and learn as much as I can.

    Can we slice vehicles?

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 років тому

      Only if they've been created as manifold solids. Most models in the 3D warehouse are not modeled this way, so this extension wouldn't work on those

    Can we slice models from 3d warehouse (rc purpose) and how can we save as pdf?

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 років тому

      It only works on objects that are in your model as solids, so if they're modeled in the 3D warehouse as a solid, it should work (but most of the models in the warehouse aren't really modeled correctly for this). You can use the print function to print to PDF, but if you're trying to export any kind of high resolution image, you're probably going to need the pro version PDF exporter. Hope this helped!
