with no background on Buddhism or general Zen teachings/practices ... one can easily understand the LOGIC of these simple formulas. Shinzen does NOT cease to amaze in his own interpretation of What Is.

Hello Har-Prakash, I have a quick question: I've heard Shinzen describe purification as bringing equanimity to an experience and then experiencing in real time the resistance un-doing itself. My question is: do you think it's more common to experience purification with the Do Nothing technique since it's more of an equanimity practice as opposed to noting which has an element of equanimity but is more concentration/clarity oriented? Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks
There is a whole story on the ratio between likes and dislikes on a youtube video ... but in Shinzen`s case, the 0% dislike is in part due to Extremely low view count and the incredible Exclusive content of his videos, so in fact you end up with the single narrow scenario when either people like us who already are deep into the subject just appreciate his effort to make the Matter more intelligible to the western "brain" as we all know how difficult it can become to be comprehended correctly ... or by random mistake one can end up here and not understand the topic at hand so he just ignores it. Only when there is an Already assumed opinion on a topic do the dislikes start to appear ... We can see that out of the 4.5 k views only 86 people (atm) actually went on to press the like as in supportive like for the Channel who made Shinzen accessible. Oh well ... we can talk a lot on this matter :)) ...
TANKS Shinzen you nailed it! Living with close relation with returning pain and "discomfort" after a cancer spine surgery I find this to be so true!! Not easy, but the only real way of coping pain without closing your sensory funktions with heavy drugs (Drugs that are dampening down the whole sensory system). Yes with equanimity instead of resistance sometimes even purification can occur.
For some reason your videos do not have metadata, when I post the link to this one on a smart website for example the video is not parsed but only the link. I believe it has something to do with the age of the video.
I double checked, when I studied it I did as a two equation system. Not independent equations. I'm going to have to find my notes because they were in differential mode. Wikipedia is not the most accurate anyways.
Yes, no one's arguing that we should not attempt to improve our external circumstances. But after a point, a lot of studies show that better external conditions don't make you any happier - the law of diminishing returns.
optizap Many studies conducted over the past century, especially since WW2. The evidence is pretty conclusive. Check out Matthieu Ricard's "Habits of Happiness" video.
valinor100 Never seen anyone win the lottery with a frown. Have noticed people seem much happier in cushy jobs than shoveling heavy shit for pittance pay. If you wish to give me all your money and show me how you can be independently happy your quite welcome to, LOL.
optizap I said in my first response, and I quote: "No one's arguing that we should not attempt to improve our external circumstances." And indeed, you will not hear a single Buddhist teacher argue that. What they ARE saying is that, *beyond a certain point*, having more shit does not automatically bring more happiness. There are plenty of miserable rich people out there, which shows that having lots of stuff and a comfortable life does not *in and of itself* make you happy. We need more, and that's where spirituality and inner development factor in. I already made all of this clear. But you seem more interested in trolling me than anything, and something tells me you did not even bother to check out the video I mentioned. LOL
What he teaches simply works.
This is actually one of the most important videos on youtube lol. This is our life, just simplified.
I am frustrated because I can only give this glorious video one thumbs up. Thank you Shinzen!

Thank you for this 🙏
How many rabbit holes did you go down to come here? Thanks

Actually Maxwell derived 20 equations; it was Oliver Heaviside who reformulated them as four equations using vector notation.
58 likes against 0 dislikes means an infinite ratio of positive reception for this beautiful video.
0 resistance ^^

Beautiful!
Wonderfully helpful. Thank you for making this material available!
If only more teachers taught with this kind of precision, there would be so much less wasted effort.
Simply thank you, good sir.
Brilliant
Amazing

Yeah, however you can just get rid of something. The protest movements have had some success, so does venting unwanted energy.

valinor100 Can't have been very good studies then. Perhaps they should look at people who suffer from depression who live near power lines.

maybe two shoes will fullfill you, because running around with one shoe can be a pain ;)
