I had the privledge of bumping into and shaking Master Chief Davis’ hand in the chow hall of Blackwater training facility in Moyock North Carolina, in the late 90’s. I was NOT in the navy, but I immediately recognized the Master Chief and had to say hello. He was a pure gentleman and extremely humble.

Cannot thank you enough for letting Master Chief talk. I know how much he means to you Senior Chief.
My first seeing him was on one of those documentaries in the 90's discussing SEAL training and ethos.
I was a young Rodeo rider and I thought if there was anything else to do in this world it would be to follow this man to hell and back.
    God's speed to you all.

What I enjoy most with these videos will Master Chief Davis, is the respect shown by Sr. Chief, a younger man. You can tell. I grew up a generation behind, but I was still taught from an early age the importance of this (if deserving) respect. I don't think it's the same now with kids.

I like hearing these stories from the old guys. My late uncle Pete graduated from UDT Class 17 in 1957. After his military service, he worked as a Research Fisheries Biologist and Diving Supervisor with NOAA, National Marine Fisheries Service, at the Beaufort Laboratory on Pivers Island for 40 years. I have several old pictures of him and his graduating class along with his memoirs. Rudy Boesch is pictured with the graduating class. I assume he was an instructor in the class. A search on the internet indicated he graduated from UDT Class 6 in 1951.
