I was in San Diego last year and checked into a motel. The guy who was helping people with their luggage, helped me carry mine up to my 3rd floor room (no elevator) and when we got to my room, he whipped out a key and opened my door! I was like "Did this guy just basically tell me that he could come into my room at any time he wanted to???" I thought this... but then I was like... "No. You're over-reacting." Plus, it was late (midnight) and I was tired, so I brushed it off. I told myself "the door is locked and latched - but if anyone comes in here then i'll just hit them with that iron". (Sidebar lesson in hindsight: if you have to actually have this thought, then you don't need to be in that situation!) So I took a shower and was about to get into bed when "something* told me to check the hotel phone (in case I needed to call 9-1-1). Sidebar lesson #2: if you actually have this thought, then you don't need to be in that situation! LEAVE!!! So, I picked up the receiver and the ENTIRE PHONE WAS A FAKE....IT WAS A PROP!!!!!! And THAT'S when I was like "OH HELL NO! I'M OUT DEUCES!" I packed my sh!t as fast as I could and flew down those 3 flights of stairs, got into my car and peeled out of there! LESSON: LISTEN TO THOSE FEELINGS.... THOSE WHISPERS... THOSE "something-told-me's". They will protect you and keep you safe!
My jaw dropped, a prop phone?!?! That’s absolutely insane and unsafe, glad you got outta there. Sometimes we just gotta trust our instincts when it comes to safety
You never stay at a hotel with doors facing outside when you are a woman...PERIOD! I've taught my daughter that from the first time we traveled when she was a kid.
You seemed INCREDIBLY patient and reasonable in your surveillance clip. So it is absolutely crazy to me how unglued the manager became when you asked for reassurance. I, too, find it disturbing how unfazed the front desk gal was with you. Like...does this sort of thing happen all the time?? Yikes!! 4 or 5 star hotels from now on, Jacy! ❤
Oh, wow Jacy, that situation is very shady! I would have been cussing everybody out!! My cousin got caught up in a similar situation! She was coming back from her car and saw a man looking in her room window. She reported him to the hotel staff and one of the managers told her that he was the "security guard" But her Spidey senses told her otherwise. Luckily, she is a police officer, so she was carrying. She went back into her room and shut out all the lights. After a few min the same man came back to her room and was in the process of trying to enter her room. She opened the door identified herself as a police officer and drew her weapon on him he bolted. To make a long story short she called the local police department, and it turned out that the manager of the hotel was actually involved with that guy and was running a drug and prostitution ring out of that hotel. That is my storytime lol!
Sammy this is terrifying, my jaw dropped!! So glad she has situational awareness and was prepared, but that should never happen!!!!!!! Seriously scary that the hotel couldn’t be trusted either 😖 glad she’s okay!!
You reacted better than I would have. Had someone entered my room, I would have been screaming and calling the police! I'd have some choice words for the front desk/management staff!
I remember my homeboy and I took a trip to Houston to check out the nightlife. After we finished partying we stayed at a cheap motel called the white house somewhere in South Houston. We saw crack fiends before we got the room entrance and when we got in the motel there were roaches. We skidattled out of there and slept in the car for the night.
Christ, you're not being dramatic, that's horrifying, and hella scary that the staff just blatantly lied to you about it! :O You did the right thing girl! X
This story made me so mad!!! So sorry you had to go through this! Please don’t stay at any places like this ever again!!! Get some pepper spray, stun gun if you don’t have one. The fact that you can tell stuff like this may happen a lot at that place based on the customer service of the workers makes me think they we’re definitely in on it. Stay safe!!!! ❤
That is such a scary situation and I’m glad you’re safe! I don’t get why people are so rude especially when they’re suppose to be the professional ones. I would dispute the charge of the shady motel with your bank. The bank should refund the charge due to the unsafe situation.
Hahaha! Covering their own backsides from possible lawsuits, incompetent desk clerks/not properlytrained or possibly a part of something bigger! In such a case, call the police yourself and file a report. Leave, if not feeling safe in the place/location. Glad you took that self defense class! No lower than 3 stars lady! Hahaha! Blessings! :)
I'm glad you're ok. I once checked in at a hotel and when I entered the room there was a suitcase on the bed and someone taking a shower. I immediately left and got a different room but the front desk was not at all concerned. And this was not a sketchy hotel.
So glad you’re ok! This is terrifying and the fact that hotel staff is in on it is even scarier. Unfortunately things like this happen in many hotels. This is why I ALWAYS travel with a door stopper that has a very Loud alarm.
My question is, why wouldn't they give you another room? Most reputable places would let you do that, or explain why they couldn't, full capacity etc.. I'm glad you left that dump. It does sound like something was going on, with the front desk people. Stay safe out there!

Here’s my story. Cleveland, Ohio. My boss and I both flew from Chicago to Cleveland to demonstrate some software to a department at the local hospital. we took separate flights and arrived at different times. When I was entering the hotel, my boss was up at the front desk telling the staff that he had just gotten back from dinner and his computer had been stolen. This was a $3000 Apple laptop with all of the software on it that we were to be demonstrating the next day. So I’m standing there watching them go get the hotel security and they look at the records and they can see what times and how many times the key was card was used. So the next thing I hear is the security guard saying “I’m sorry sir but we looked at all the records of the key card and your key card is the only card that has access to this room so my boss is just standing there dumbfounded and he’s like my laptop is missing And they’re like sorry sir but we have confirmed your card is the only one that has opened the door so being someone who has watched a lot of Columbo and I’m not shy to speak up. I said wait a minute John didn’t you just get back from dinner he said yes, I said do you have your receipt he said yes I said pull it out because the time stamp is going to be on the receipt and then you can see if any of the timestamps for the key card were while you were at dinner. Sure enough it turned out that the employees when they made copies of the cards to give to the patrons of the hotel, they would make themselves another copy and go into the room when the person was out of the hotel. It was a whole scam and they had to buy him a new computer. Unfortunately he didn’t get any of the software back and had to reload everything but that’s the story.
Jeeze what a scam!! So scary to know the hotel isn’t on your side sometimes 😣 quick thinking on your part to make sure he got his money back for the laptop!!
Yeah the cheaper the hotel, the more shady it is. The ppl being removed was the first sign you shouldn't have checked in. Seeing the door didnt have the extra locks was a MAJOR red flag. That shows the hotel participates in the shenanigans. I would've left immediately. Never assume that staff workers will help or protect you. Sometimes they'll lead you right back into the trap. Other times they're just no help. Some businesses are invovled in illegal stuff... It's Their front. You were smart to be on alert. Glad you're ok 😊
I once stayed at a motel in Indiana. After getting my room key I entered my room to find a woman sitting on my bed. Me being naive I thought I had went into the wrong room and it was double booked. But she said "It's ok! This is definitely your room. There's no problem here" and walked out. It took me a minute to realize she was a prostitute. I told the guy at the front desk who looked very nervous and he said "I don't know what you are taking. I didn't see any woman walking around here." I later saw her again walking around the parking lot at night.
You let the police know, right? If that is really what is happening there, then this is a good opportunity for you to help countless people. Also, glad you're safe!
That door latch thing at the end of the video is a good idea. I've also seen door stoppers that have alarms on them that you jam under the door to keep people from entering. You said at the start most of the bad reviews were about the staff, now we know why. I don't stay anywhere the reviews say the staff is bad because in these situations you need them to be on you side wanting to help you. Those people are probably used to those drug users bringing all kinds of drama and crime so a mix up like the maintenance guy seems like nothing to them. If you don’t have a firearm, you should purchase one and learn how and when to use it. Take it with you every day especially when you’re traveling alone. Society appears to be getting more violent towards women. When seconds count, the police will be minutes away; you’re going to have to be able to protect yourself. If you can’t buy/carry a firearm, at least carry some quality pepper spray.
But if it's a maintenance worker that accidentally opened your door, and you said in your clip, "as long as it was maintenance, that's fine", ...then why did you need the new room? Bc the maintenance man "knew you were alone"? From what you described, he didn't even see you. Why does everyone want to be a victim nowadays?

Woooow that's so dodgy!!! So glad you left....cant beleive they gas lit the fk out of you...very scary ❤❤❤❤
😳 😳 😳 😳!!!
Don't mention the hotel as they would definitely come after you for defamation.
Yup! Don’t need that kind of trouble 😅
Well, guess I'm gnna have to be your
bf/protector to make sure this doesn't happen again right 👍
Haha now hiring bodyguards 😅
@@JacyErin well I'm 12 experienced so I'm ready and let me know when your accepting bf applications
As a man, I can confirm to you that jacy practices self-love and is not looking for a man. She's in a complicated relationship with herself. 💯
@@taz09216 hahahaha agreed mate 👍
What do you expect from a 2 star hotel?
I want Jacey to go hang out on Martin Luther King Drive at 1 A.M. and tell us what happens with duh brothas in duh hood - if she survives.
Glad you’re safe. Please watch the “French”.

Gaslighting is when you are being deceived for a long period of time. And it's typically used to describe abuse.
Umm wrong!
