What I enjoyed most about this video is hearing you spent 10 hours out there. Fish or no fish, it’s all about enjoying the day and enjoying life. Keep up the good work. These are the best times.
I love your vids and tutorial! Thank you! I might connect and get more pointers. I have not caught my keeper this season but I am determined! I want to start surf fishing! 😊
Hey Mhei, thanks for the kind words. I can definitely help you get that first keeper. I know how difficult it can be. DM me on Instagram or email me directly and we'll figure it out. You can find my Instagram and email in my UA-cam bio. Thanks for watching and good luck out there!
Looks like you have a pretty sharp drop-off there, wherever you are. I've always thought fluke need structure in order to hang out and wait for something to attack. I wouldn't think of trying to catch them in sandy surf... but maybe it's that drop-off?
Hey liven, you are correct. At the beach there is a steep drop-off right where the waves crash on the shore. A lot of times fluke will sit near it and eat whatever comes out of the "wash" which is where the waves crash. You will catch some fluke farther away from the drop off though. Offshore the fluke will sit near big rocks and whatever else is down there to ambush bait. Great question!
I live in the northeast USA so we call them fluke. They are called flounder everywhere else. Same fish different name depending on where you are. Good question! We catch a lot of small ones, but big ones are mixed in. Sorry if the title was misleading I just added an “a” to it to specify that I only caught one giant fluke lol
Fluke (Summer Flounder) are different than Flounder (Winter Flounder). A true fluke's mouth points up and to the left when laid flat. Flounder points up and to the right. You can also tell fluke because they're lighter in color and have lots of spots. Flounder is darker, not many, if any spots.
I 100% agree I would love to go crabbing. I might be able to pull it off this summer in the bay on my little 14 foot boat. I just have to wait for a flat calm day just to be safe.
@@NikolasMarshall You don't even need a boat. Just find a small dock, and they're littered all over. All you need are some strings, chicken drums, and a net. Caught a cooler full at island heights last year.
The same thing happens to me when I catch keeper fluke. They thrash like bluefish on the sand and I got the s*** slapped out of me a few times with sand in my eyes and mouth trying to unhook them. So disrespectful.
Totally understand man. The biggest i've ever caught was a 21" from shore and I was freaking out because of how big it was lol. I've never seen a 24"+ so I have nothing to compare to.
geez what gave that away? 6" white jerk shad on a single jig with 12lb fluoro tied to braid with the NYC skyline in the far distance? come on thats just a complete coincidence ! 🤣🤣

Glad you liked it thomas. Being away from everything and everyone is always nice hahaha.
That’s my friend Pete! Nice catch!
Another great vid, man! Great job explaining the technique too, keep it up!
Thank you Sam tight lines!
Such a great video! Super helpful info. What cooler backpack are you using? 😮
Great video, Nik!! Very informative, man! Which State are you at?
Great video as always dude
Thanks man! Expect more like this throughout the summer!!!
Cooking and fishing and shore money has been doing this technique for a while now. I find this technique more fun than dragging a sinker around.
100% couldn’t agree more man. Those two are amazing anglers and their single jig technique really works.

Those look like little flounder. Are they just small flounder but go by a different name there?

Dude you should wear a long sleeve SPF shirt if you're out there that long.
I have two long sleeves now and haven’t been burned since lol
what state is this?
where is this spot you fishing at?
Hey young, I don't give exact spots in my videos sorry. I do fish in NJ though.
@@NikolasMarshallgive him location- Atlantic Ocean that should narrow it down for em pretty good.
It’s Long Island New York, can’t tell you more
You should give crabbing a try, I feel like you'll like it

R they doormats😂
Where is the giant????
Towards the end man!!! Unless you don't count a 20.5" a giant from the surf... I'd day thats a pretty big one
@NikolasMarshall no I'm sorry I don't consider a 20" Fluke giant at all. It's barely even legal

8+hrs…solid work. Respect.
Thanks man! Time goes by fast when you're locked in and on the fish!!!
So you're at the beach Thanks for not saying which beach.
Heh....almost exact same spot, equipment and technique as Cooking and Fishing's and Shore-Money Fishing channel.
