On our first vacation to Vegas in '92 we stayed at Westward Ho right next door. I slipped over there at night and was playing a four-reel machine to win a Ford Mustang Convertible. I could see myself driving it home! I didn't win the car, but the coin spitter did pay 600 quarters three times while I was playing and enjoying comp Coronas. The place was pretty busy at the time and on recent trips I usually do stop in for "old time's sake", maybe play a little. I hope the new plan works out for them!
A few years back I played the coin spitters at El Cortez. I hope Slots of Fun keeps the quarter ones. Nice to have a place other than the Pinball Hall of Fame that you can have fun with a roll of quarters.
Mine goes back to the early 80's
First trip to Vegas was in 94 I think - in-laws treated us. Was out drinking all night and hit Slots of Fun on my way back to the Luxor. It was about 3 am and I was drunk as a skunk. Stopped at Slots for a couple of Heinekens and then home. Wife was not too happy. Back when you could take a bus all the way from Fremont to the end of the strip. Only way I could find my way home.
Finding a Double Diamond Deluxe machines is almost impossible. I saw some in downtown Las Vegas but they were “occupied “ and only available during the midnight hours. They have a very loyal fan base who love that “ special “ feature when the wheels stop.
I finally went in there for the first time last year. Half of it was shut down and it was dark as hell. It was about 5 people in there in the early afternoon

I'm just as happy eating a 2 dollar hot dog, drinking a Heineken and playing some coin slots as I am living high end.

First place I visited my 1st time in Vegas. I saw a billboard in the airport advertising the cheap hot dogs and Heinkens. I played the $2 BJ tables. Great place. Last time I visited, I did not see 1 human in there. No one

Talk about sanitation back in the day i saw a guy pouring liquor & coke in one of those dirty plastic coin cups & drinking out of it 🤢 i think the old Vegas is gone for ever 😕
I grew up right next to a water theme park so every weekend I was playing slots and arcade games which wasn't common really for UK kids. Would play WWF wrestling games and the Kentucky Derby. Throw in that we had cable which again early 90's wasn't common here and I had the Simpsons, X-Files, Cops etc plus MTV. Quite a US themed upbringing really for central England lol.
Heard Casino Royale do cheap hot dogs too, would give both places a go.
