Green flame blade if you're able to grab illusionist bracers are so fun on hexblades
This is also why Pact of the Tome is the best pact boon you can choose as a Warlock. Three more cantrips AND the ability to get ritual spells? More magic than you can swing a Pact Weapon at.
Also, I made a Fathomless Warlock who I very specifically avoided Eldritch Blast with. So, to to aid in its combat style with the Tentacle of the Deeps (And because Lance of Lethargy would only work on one beam, anyway) I took Ray of Frost.
Lastly, the very first Warlock I ever got to play I multiclassed into from a Lore Bard. It was a GOO Tome-lock, and I went woth Booming Blade and Mind Sliver for my Warlock Cantrips, then Shocking Grasp, Message, and Chill Touch for my Tome cantrips. Mind Sliver and Vicious Mockery are a fun toolset, especially when paired with the Lore Bard's Cutting Words.
Sometimes I think Eldritch Blast is to good of a cantrip. When a choice becomes a no brainer regardless of the circumstances, then it isn't much of a choice. Or at least not much of a fun one anyway.
That's why any decent rework of the Warlock just makes it a class feature.
In 3rd edition it was, maybe they'll go back to that.@@WolfHreda
@@RingXross In a way, the class is still somewhat built around it, and it does behave similarly. I think it just feels off and imbalanced because a cantrip is meant to be a fairly basic spell, but an at will spell-like ability is a pretty open-ended concept in terms of how you might expect it to scale up.
Eldritch blast FTW!
