Great video by the way. Most of those games were not designed for handheld, that is a problem. I would buy special handheld edition with modified games to be playable on a tiny screen. Try play Diable 3 on the Switch and you understand.
I think a future FW option that might be nice would be a 'Classic mode' where the games displayed as they used to. Personally while it's nice to get a lot of the VS options I'm really disappointed they didn't update any of the games with fixes in this. We've been waiting a long time for some of them and they should have been a priority over flashy new intros.
I know I agree. I'm just as surprised as you that a lot of bug fixes didn't make this update. Considering that we've been waiting long enough for them.
Good points.. Roniu's Tale should be available soon.. Yazzie I think is a fault with the original rom.. but yeah I thought this bug would've been patched too.
yeah update wasnt so straight forward had same issue that you have to click it again to update. Note as well when youfirstboot it after update it takes a while. then back to normal
I've just received the Founders Edition (two weeks late, thanks DPD), updated both Evercades but I feel the picture is very soft. I thought the pixel perfect would be sharp pixels but the pictures seems blurry. Not sure if my imagination though. Been playing Earthwork Jim and it looks really blurry on both handheld and Vs. Is it me?
pixel perfect is a resolution/aspect ratio thing rather than a contrast one. The Evercade puts a weird smoothing filter on everything as standard unfortunately.
@@obsoleteworlds yeah I just don't see the point in it. On the handheld it's useless. It's fine linked to a TV but pointless in handheld mode. I'd stick to normal for most.
bad news: I can't access the website for a strange reason I don't know if it has been taken down or something like that and I just wanted to update my evercade when I finally had it
After updating the firmware on both my original Evercade handheld and the limited edition purple Evercade, upon starting the console with a cartridge in I get the following message on each first attempt: Settings Load Failed An unexpected error occured while reading settings (Back) After selecting Back the cartridge then starts fine, and doesn't get that error message on subsequent bootups with that cartridge in. But try a different cartridge for the first time and you get the error again. I have contacted Evercade and I'm waiting for a reply. Any ideas?
OK, following the Settings Error I encountered another problem following the Firmware update. Randomly in games the console activates a move left action. So for instance in Double Dragon 2 Arcade if you keep your character still it automatically starts moving it to the left! Having reported this to Evercade I got this reply from Blaze the manufacturer and kudos to them they replied very quicky... Hi! Ryan from Blaze here, I am the head of development at Blaze. Statistically, you are am unfortunate member of the 0.33% group of users who updated yesterday/today and have this issue with the input. There is a slight variation on your specific handheld which is causing "false" inputs to occur with the new input handler which was implemented to improve performance and reduce input latency. This is due to a physical manufacturing tolerance with the GPIO circuitry, this doesn't mean there is something wrong with your handheld! It just means that even though we tested 2.0.0 on 100+ handhelds we didn't account for this particular variant. We have identified the cause of the false inputs and have already implemented a fix. We are currently beta testing this fix with a couple members who reproduced the error and we will likely have the 2.0.1 fix update out for this Monday as long as tests go well. Thanks for reporting and thanks for your understanding. So I'm guessing this is also what's causing the Settings Error when I boot up the Evercade handheld but I'm waiting for them to confirm this.
@@richardmullens4707 wow.. thanks for sharing.. thats a bit of a nightmare. Just curious.. when did you get your handheld? I'm thinking this isn't an original handheld but one of the more recent models?
It's my original Evercade handheld that's having the automatic left input problem but the Settings Error is on both that and the new limited edition Purple Evercade. To be honest I haven't really used the new model since the firmware update so it will be interesting to see if that also has the automatic left input problem too. I can send you videos of the problem if you like? You are welcome to include them in one of your videos so that people are made aware of the issue.
@@richardmullens4707 mmm might be an idea..Im not really one for promoting negative stuff but there's been quite a few issues with this update that folks really should be made aware. It's all been a bit radio silence.
@@CrazyBurger did you try to play one of the games? when i select ag game an click "play" it says "loading" for a short timr, but the game doesn't start at all... :(

Lol brutal.. I've seen a few folks struggle with it. Kinda surprised as the updater was perfect through the beta testing but seems as if a few steps are missing here and there.

That video was extremely helpful. I’m so happy it was my first update and I love it
I really like the update, lookong foreward to 22 and seeing what Evercade brings out.

Thanks mate very much appreciated!
Very nice update. But mega cat 2 still have problems with yazzie (25th level still unbeatable) and Ronius tale not full yet.

why is Asteroids deluxe completely wrong on the new Atari arcade cart. It's original asteroids instead where is the Shields etc.
It's original with the deluxe background. I dont get whats going on there. Major screw up!
Cheers for the vid. Just done mine. My Laptop does not like the program. It also came up in German for some reason. All ok now though.
Lol what the heck? At least it didn't come up in Welsh!
@@CrazyBurger Ha ha. It was some error message. Still worked though. It looks nice. The start up is definitely quicker.
Oh yeah its much faster at booting up. I just think it's better suited to the VS rather than handheld.
@@CrazyBurger I'll see how it goes. Enjoying Shark and Thunder Castles at the moment.
I've been playing a bit of Chaos Engine. With save states its still a tough game

Only unplayable on handheld. Better on VS. However these games should get a new lease of life when the Evercade EXP releases with its TATE mode.
