This is the best feature Apple has done in years. I've been a recent user of the MacBook Air, but a very long-time user of iPads (school, content creation, free-time, etc.), and the fact that I can move fluently now from one screen to another and control each device with the same keyboard as my MacBook is just amazing.
Hopefully Apple continues to build on this with more features in the future, but as it stands, amazing work guys. Now please bring Pro Apps to the iPad and I'll be at peace...
truuuuuuu
I have good news on that last part
I just used this now with my 2017 iMac and M1 iMac, it works so flawlessly. Amazing feature.
I Love this Feature
Excellent work! Not only the trackpad is connected, but also the keyboard! Cool! Another three-finger gesture appeared on the iPad. Swing left and right. Now you can scroll through desktops like on Mac! Thank you very much, guys!
Done! When I purchased my Logitech MX Keys I thought it had the capability to use this feature. I was so disappointed when it did not. I am so stoked that I can use it seamlessly now. Thanks, Apple!
Just started using it and I can confidently say this is a game changer for my workflow (typed on my Mac on the iPad app)
Can you drag and drop files between the two?
@@edwardmupenda3080 Yeah sure !
Works great, love it.
can you draw in a Programm on mac with the i pad?
You can use the Sidecar feature with some model iPads and Macs. This will allow you to use the iPad as a display that extends or mirrors your Mac desktop. You can read more about using Sidecar here: s.apple.com/dE4b6J0v5O

Amazing universal control
This is excellent, thank you!
Thank you so much! This is so helpful!
Loved it, now I just need a Mac
Awesome 🤩
This is such a awesome feature!! You can also use you laptop keyboard on the iPad with this sharing option! :)
Great great feature. Thanks Apple 🖤
Awesome! Way to go Apple 💪🏻😇
Finally! Thank you!
You forgot a very important final step! Select "Displays," choose your iOS device and under "Use As:" select Linked keyboard and mouse. It would also be a nice feature if you could choose which edge of the screen to move the cursor past in order to us the iOS device, similar to how using it as an extended display works. Great first step, but needs some refining!
you can specify which side of the screen you need to move the cursor toward by rearranging the displays in the mac’s settings
You can go into display settings and choose where your devices are situated, which changes which side of the screen you move your cursor to.
Even better if it used the camera (or other means) on all devices to figure out how they are positioned in relation to each other.
It sounds like Universal Control isn’t even on iOS. Only iPadOS and MacOS.
@@ryanr27 Yes it's only supported on iPadOS and macOS.
Finnaly, i have been waiting for this feature since the announcement of ipados 15
Thank you SOO MUCH! You don’t know how much this helped me! I have been waiting for this feature to release so I can use it for my YT channel! Thanks again and keep up the good work! Bravo!

This feature, my goodness, it’s insanely well done. How did you manage to implement things like this?

I wonder what they did to destroy all that latency (+_+)

INCREDIBLE
thanks nice and easy!
These short and snappy videos are way better than the loooooooong winded videos on the same subject
It’s finally out! Universal Control is NOT enabled from the start so this video was required for me. I thought the the feature would have been enabled from the start.
How many people actually own and use 2 iPads? They have the data and I guess it’s not very many
@@edwardmupenda3080 but most people have an iPad and a Mac or a Macbook and an iMac.

Hiiii.! does it work with Microsoft mouse and keyboard? as I use the ergonomic keyboard and mouse Thank you
Please make it possible to use this feature with two iPads. Without a Mac

Can’t wait to buy my first Mac computer. It’s going to go perfect with my M1 iPad 12.9
While using universal control with my MacBook and iPad, Is it possible to get the iPads sound to output from the MacBook? I usually have headphones connected to my MacBook, so I want the iPad sound and the MacBook sound to both go to my headphones.
Finally!!!
Bad ass!
Great feature. However, when I move my cursor to my second mac, the scroll feature on my mouse doesn't work (works fine on the first mac). I use an Logitech MX3 mouse and while I don't expect the custom bottoms to work across the second mac, I was hoping the scroll feature would at least work. Just wondering if there's a solution for this? Thank you in advance.
While you may need to get in touch with Logitech Support to check for things like compatibility, firmware updates, or even driver updates seeing as it’s a third-party mouse, we wanted to help however we can from our end of things:
1. The first thing to test(if you’re able to) is to test the same mouse with Universal Control on a different Mac.
2. If you are able to test an Apple-branded mouse for the same issue, we recommend trying it with the Mac that’s having the issue.
3. If you have a compatible Mac model, the latest version is macOS 13.2. You can verify this by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then update your Mac: s.apple.com/dE4q6d8q2L
If you still need help after following all of the suggestions above, we wanted to provide a link to our main support website to continue troubleshotoing with us: apple.co/GetSupport Take care!

It used to work perfectly with my imac and macbook air m1 in the beginning but after updating to 12.3.1 it stopped working and only randomly works for a few minutes sometimes. Since it worked flawlessly in the beginning there's is no need to check again that my macs meet the requirements (which I have done anyway), there were no problems whatsoever. Is it not working anymore because of 12.3.1?
I really enjoyed using it when it worked.
Thanks for reaching out. We definitely want to make sure you are able to use this feature on your Mac. To start, we’d want to make sure you’ve done a complete restart of the Mac since this issue started. You can see how to do that here: s.apple.com/dH8w0p0E7t

Hi apple! I bought a new macbook air 4-5 months ago and it's working fantastically and has amazing features, but I had a question that how do I screen screen from my iphone to my mac. Hi! I am having problems with universal control with my ipad mini 6. The cursor seems to be stuck at the corner of the display every time when I move my cursor from the ipad mini to my Mac. This makes moving files from ipad mini to Mac impossible. This problem does not exist between my mac and ipad pro. I wonder if that is a bug on ipad mini? Thanks for your help!
P.s. Universal control is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
Hi there. Thanks for letting us know what’s happening when using the new Universal Control feature. We’re happy to help out.

Juist swipe the cursor down to the bottom of the screen on your iPad and the app will close! (The dock needs to come up first, and after that give a second swipe to the bottom)

I followed every step but it doesn’t seem to be working for me any ideas why?
It is a little sad this feature is not supported in slightly older models: my 2015 iMac and MacBook Pro are both left out for some reason.
I can’t understand why Apple would restrict software features to newer devices while allowing them to upgrade to their most up to date release of the operating system.
It's because of the older bluetooth module they use for airplay, it's not compatible with the new bluetooth standards. I have the new 16 M1 Max Macbook Pro an old 2015 Macbook as well and was disappointed to see the 2015 doesn't work.

this is really cool but the only issue i’m having with it so far is that specifically using the magic keyboard folio for the ipad does not seem to work as smoothly as using the mac’s keyboard, i can get the ipad gestures to close apps and full screen videos & such to work just fine when i’m using my trackpad on my macbook on my ipad but when i try to use macbook gestures to control my macbook using my ipad’s keyboard it doesn’t work :/ i’ve also noticed that scrolling with the ipad’s keyboard on the macbook is not smooth it instantly stops scrolling after you lift your fingers rather than slowly coming to a halt like it should. This is still in beta though so i’d expect these issues to eventually get resolved
and obviously i could just use my macbook’s keyboard for everything but for some usage scenarios i really prefer using the ipad as the main display over the macbook and it’s kind of annoying that everything feels refined one way but kind of janky the other way around
