  • Watch as I pave diamond set this wedding band. I lay out and set this wedding ring entirely by hand and eye under microscope. Pave setting is a a great style of setting for wedding rings or any fine jewelry really, it shows off the stones in a great way that protects them while also covering with only minimal metal.
    This ring is platinum using VS+ 8 Cut diamonds, also known as Single cut diamonds.
    I cut the bright cut with a sharpened and polished carbide 60 degree v graver, using my pulse graver to hand engrave it. The video is filmed through my Leica S9D trinocular microscope.
    Thanks for watching!!
    If you're interested in what tools to use for diamond setting, I have my entire tool list laid out for you to download here
    I now teach through my online diamond setting courses, which I encourage you to check out, I have a course on Castle Setting, and also one on Fishtail/ French
    settingthestandard.co
    If you would like to learn how to pave set like this video, you can add yourself to the waitlist for the Pave Accelorator program, which will be launching in the near future.

    My first decent stone I cut was a 23ct Brazilian amethyst with a modified 8+8 cut and it came out beautifully. The nice big facets really let a lot of light bounce around in there 💎

    OMG!! 😱 It takes supreme patience and skills to do this!! Wow!! Especially for the micropave… how do you make sure the tiny stones are secure without breaking it when securing the prongs?!! Wow!! I always worry my stones will fall out, which I recently have a band repaired because the stone got loose!! Luckily I caught it before losing the stone!! 🙄😅🙏

    Do you ball bur to size and then using a twist drill later, drill through the ring?
    Would you get nice holes on the back that way and less chance of drill through on an angle?

    Im curious why you didnt use a setting burr and used a round burr ? also do you use brute force to form the prong bead or some sort of impact tool?
    Beautiful results.

    • @setting-the-standard
      @setting-the-standard  Місяць тому

      Setting bur just isn’t needed. Round cuts a perfect seat, arguably better than setting bur which if not drilled perfectly straight can cause stones to sit off level. And yes just by hand, I try to keep my beads size 8 or below and only hand push them.

    I'm new to the concepts of stone setting. I'm seeing lots of debris left in the areas the diamonds will cover even with initial stones shown being placed. Is the debris completely cleaned after cutting there seats and before the actual stones are actually set?

    • @setting-the-standard
      @setting-the-standard  10 місяців тому

      Most is cleaned before stones, but the remainder comes off in the ultrasonic after setting

    • @setting-the-standard
      @setting-the-standard  10 місяців тому

      I do yes, though when getting down below 0.9 Ill calibrate them a little larger, so for a 0.7 ill get 0.68-0.72 for 1.0 I would grab 0.95-1.0
