Never have I dropped everything so quick to listen. My ears and soul are thankful 😌
Aww, thanks Charlotte, I'm so thankful this video has a response like this. 🙂
A great response looking at the comments and views😃. It’s a powerful poem, maybe those who Mudlark could possibly relate, a longing to get back to the river or sea and nature. 🙂
From someone who was born and raised by the sea and has been landlocked for the past thirty-six years, thank you.
Thanks so much lovethatdragon, I was born and raised in a landlocked place, but I miss the sea, and will delight in it when I'm able to visit again. 🙂
That was beautiful, Tom. You have such a calming voice.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. 🙂
Sooo needed that today, as sit here holding one of my sea shells from a recent shelling trip, I desperately need to go back. Thank you!
I haven't heard that poem since I was a child kid back in the fifties , brought back beautiful memories and narrated just perfectly
Excellent. You have a voice that is naturally given to reading. I could see in my mind's eye that of which you spoke. Thank you dear Tom for this wonderful gift on a cold, snowy Ohio day.
Thanks so much Lugene. That's how I wish most people, myself included, could react to a poetry reading. 🙂
That was absolutely wonderful Tom. You have a lovely calming voice. Thank you Tom!
Thanks Adam, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Beautiful Tom, Thank you!!
Thanks Judy. 🙂
What a beautiful performance. 🌊 You make me long for the sea. Thank you.
Aw, thanks so much Laurus, I long for the sea too. 🙂
Hopefully you’ll be able to go in the summer 😊💦
Beautiful! Feeds the soul. Thank you!
Thank you. 🙂
Oh how lovely. I could hear you read my mama's favorite poem.... she walks in beauty, like the night....
Thanks Rusty Halo, She Walks in Beauty is on my long list of poems to attempt, it's a tricky one to do well, and it'll be a while before I get to it, but I'll try. 🙂
One of my favorite poems ever, all the way from childhood. Do I love the poem because of the sea, or the sea because of the poem? That was lovely.
Could listen to you all day! Such a calming and nice voice! Thank you. (Sherry Crane) Ohio USA
Love this- I was at the beach today sitting listening to the waves. So lovely to have this to end my wonderful day. Thank you.
This was wonderful! I love the sound of your calming voice.
Thanks Shannon, I'm glad you like it. 🙂
What a lovely way to start my day...thank you Tom
Thanks MsMoe, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Thank you for this. We are sailors on the Great lakes in Michigan and enjoyed your reading very much.
Thanks so much Taz.🙂
A favorite of mine and now paired with your haunting voice, beautiful!
Thank you, I'm glad you think I did justice to such a wonderful poem. 🙂
Wonderful! You gave this poem the gritty feel that could only come from the musing mind of an old seafarer. Well done, Tom, and thanks from The Finger Lakes Region ❤🇺🇸
Beautiful. I would love to hear your voice doing audio books.
Thank you Lynn. I wouldn't mind doing some audiobooks eventually, I'm practicing on Poems. 🙂
Sounds great Tom but you need to work on some diction it upsets me to hear th sounding like an f , other than that it was really beautifully read and I too would like to hear more 👍🏼
More readings, please!
Slowly, but surely going to happen. 🙂
Perfect in everyway💕💕
Never quite perfect to my ears, but I'm glad you think so. 🙂
You could read from the dictionary and I’d be all in. 🥰
I'm hoping to one day read a phone book... this one: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Telefonbuch-Manhattan-1962-63-Telephone-Directory-Raritat/264781968259. It's a bit beyond me for now, but, it'll probably still be available when I can afford it. It's got so many interesting and famous names in it. 🙂 A dictionary would maybe be a cheaper one to start on. 🙂
@@tomburleigh9261 i think I'm the only one old enough to know that reading the phone book is funny but that phone book would be way better. It's crazy how easy it used to be to get ahold of just everyone's address and phone number not that long ago.
Beautiful reading! I haven't heard that poem since grade school, over 60 years ago. I think you could read from a phone book and it would sound great❤️
Wow Tom, that was incredible! Thank you.
Thanks Kaylin, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
That was lovely thank you!
Thank you, I'm so glad you think so. 🙂
This poem instantly reminded me of Wynken, Blynken and Nod. ❤
Thanks Theresa, I didn't know that one... it's now one I want to do a reading of 🙂
@@tomburleigh9261 I often recited it while tucking my daughters into bed. My girls are in their early 20's now so, it's been a long time since this poem came to mind. Thanks for stirring that lovely memory back to the surface for me.
We need a Standing Ovation button!
That poem spoke to my soul! I'm an hour from the nearest beach and miss the sounds and sights of the sea so much 🌊❤️
Thanks Beth. It speaks to mine too, I'm about 2 hours from the nearest beach, and missing it like crazy at the moment. 🙂
@@tomburleigh9261 but won't it be wonderful when we get to return! I will never take it for granted again ❤️
I close my eyes and can visualize all that you speak. Bravo ! Bravo !
Very much enjoyed your reading Tom. What a voice! 💞💖💞
Thanks Louetta, that's very kind of you. 🙂
I love that poem. It was a nice surprise to you were telling it. I have a sudden urge for the ocean!
Beautifully done! Thank you.
Thank you Mary, I'm glad you think so. 🙂
Ahhhhhhhhhh... yes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
This goes down in history as one of my FAVORITE UA-cam videos.
Excellent. Many thank. Beautifully executed setting, weather and read.
This poem is one of the reasons, no matter the weather, I love to be at the sea. Our coast is smooth and sandy. But I long to see the rough coast of the north Atlantic and see the waves crash on the rocks. But I do love the sea and all her creatures and treasures. This was an very enjoyable listen. I will save it to listen to again and again.
What an incredibly calming voice you have. My baby and I love listening to your videos when nursing. I truly am grateful ❤️
That was beautiful Tom. Thank you so much for reading for us. Your reading put my restless and panicked soul back to peace and stillness again. Thank you for that. I so very much needed to hear a calm and beautiful voice. I could listen to your readings forever. Please do more soon....
WOW !!!!!!. When I’m at the lake, and the wind is howling, and the waves breaking on the wall, the spray hitting my face, pure joy and a wildness fills my soul. Beautifully read!!!!! ❣️
A lifetime favorite, well read. Goosebumps! Thank you Tom.
Very well done Tom, I applaud you. You are a man of many talents. Thanks for posting this wonderful poem.
Just been down to the beach and the wind was like a whetted knife.
Oh I love it. Your voice is amazing. I could listen to you read all day. Just beautiful.
Once again I felt like the young girl headed for her English class. My teacher would ask us to read and recite from memory certain poems. This was one of them that was given to me. I always thought it was a silly thing to do and yet today I wouldn't trade that memorable feeling for anything! I will save and refer to this often.
I could practically smell the salt air and the spray on my face. Thank you 😊
I enjoyed you reading this poem with the sound of the sea. It was beautifully read and so soothing. When I stand and just listen to the ocean waves it as if it speaks . Whether it’s an angry wave crashing or a gentle swish of sea pushing pebbles. I love the sea.
Wonderful, Tom. Lockdown means I’m also landlocked in Cornwall, the nearest beach being a little too far to be considered “local”. I miss the sea. Thank you, it was lovely to listen and can’t wait to hear more.
Thanks Tom very atmospheric, please can you do some more readings.
Don’t all larks feel this about their places? Beautiful thank you Tom. 🙏🏻
Had to learn this at school and l remembered every word of the poem
Beautiful Tom, Thanks so much for your wonderful rendition.
You would make an absolutely wonderful narrator for audiobooks ❤️ today has been a very grey, cold, rainy day, and listening to this while looking out at it all was so soothing
Thank you for the lovely rendition. I grew up on the coast and am now trapped inland. I feel that poem in my soul!
Olá amigo chegou a hora mais esperada ,a do relaxamento ,adoro os seus vídeos fantastic thanks 😸💐👏
Obrigado, fico feliz que ache meus vídeos relaxantes e agradáveis. 🙂
I could feel the mist on my face! Lovely
Wonderful. Someone definitely needs to hire you for audio books :)
wonderful. Thank-you so much.
Thanks Angie, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Well done....beautiful reading! Look forward to more...thank you
That was so lovely. Hope you’ll do more..
Marvelous! Ah, Mother Ocean.
I love his voice its so soothing
No words Tom that I can add to the many positive comments. I would love to hear a creepy story read by you, you have the voice for it lad. Take care and I hope your girl is well x
Wonderful Tom, I loved it!! Do more please!!👍👍👍👍👍
I thank both you and Masefield for that spontaneous trip to the sea, Tom. I momentarily set aside Jacques Derrida for that and was utterly transfixed by it.
I love this. I grew up beside the ocean.
Hi Tom, in my opinion nobody narrates as well as people with a British accent and the quality of your voice is the icing on the cake. I listened as soon as I saw this. I do hope that Locksley Hall, is on your list, but I will thoroughly enjoy anything that you read. Thank you for sharing. Julie 🥰
I was quite surprised that this was the poem you chose to read because I study it with my 6th grade students every year. It is like an old friend! Thank you!
We learnt that at school.I still remember it for 50 years ago! You read well.
awesome job tom MORE MORE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Tom. It a long time since I have heard poetry recited. That was wonderful.
Wonderful. I haven't heard that one In decades!
Excellent! Please do this regularly. Your voice is so clear and calming. I enjoyed that immensely. Thank you. 🦋
Perfect! Thank you Tom.
Perfection Tom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, thank you!!!!
I enjoyed that so much. Thank you! You and Alex from Northern Mudlarks have the most beautiful, calming reading voices.
I am very great full for your wonderful work!! Blessings~
Beautifully read, thanks Tom.
You should do children's storys you got me feeling calm
Simply beautiful!
A very nice offering! Thank you!
That was both alluring and amazeballs (a real word now believe it or not). Thanks for a much needed quiet moment.
Would love to hear you read The Raven; perhaps something more mainstream would attract more viewers to your channel over time? No idea how UA-cam really works haha but it would sound great in your cadence and tone.
Hi Tom, I live in British Columbia Canada. I just want to thank you for all your amazing videos, and knowledge. You have a amazing gift. The gift of, filling the room of which you read.
That was beautiful more please !
Great reading Tom, have you read The Wild Duck, by John Masefield.
I have now, thanks Terry. That one would quite a challenge to get right... but, on my long list of poems to attempt it goes. 🙂
Absolutely perfect! You could easily have two channels, one for mudlarking and one for reading and have tons of subscribers on both. I've been turning on your mudlarking playlist almost daily now for entertainment/relaxation/eventual sleep!
Thank you. I'm planning on having at least three channels eventually. This one, one for readings, and one for crafts. These poetry readings will eventually get re-uploaded onto the reading channel, I haven't decided if they'll get taken down here or not... they'll be joined by some short story readings, and maybe some out of copyright books. 🙂
Thankyou Tom, this poem has just echo how i feel about the sea. Made my day!🌻 Tammy.
I so enjoyed this reading. I could see it all in my mind. Well done Tom take care
This is my most favorite poem and you read it with such feeling. Thank you for bringing life to such a wonderful memory
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed my attempt to recite wonderful poem. 🙂
Good grief I was not expecting this!-Tom your talents are many and this is a true demonstration of your unique vocal presentation skills. Well done ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Thanks James, I think this poem is actually quite a simple one in comparison to some I'm attempting to record... if I can do justice to The Rime of the Ancient Mariner for example, that would be a really good demonstration. 🙂
I am the captain of my soul. Wonderful 🥰
Such a calming read....thanks
One of my favorite poems. I have an original book of Salt Water poems and ballads signed by Masefield. Very nice reading of it. Thank you
I love this poem. It speaks to me.
How beautifully read thanks for sharing x
Hello Tom, thank you, again, for this incredible reading. I am hoping that, with your love of nature, Mary Oliver will make an appearance in praise of trees. I see from the comments that your list is now endless! ❤🇺🇸🍷
Lovely, Tom! I knew the beginning of that poem (thanks to Muppet Treasure Island, I'm embarrassed to say), but had never heard the whole thing. You brought life to beautiful words.
one of my all time favorites! If I .... If I had been born... all the if's. But for sure, I would have leaved near the sea and worked on her. I love the ocean.
Beautiful Tom. Read is more.
Wow Tom. Well done. I will share this on my facebook page.
❤ love this
Thanks Amylou30 🙂
