I planted a Vivax with root barrier a few weeks ago and I was very interested to see how far the runners have gone in your garden. Would you say they are mostly surface level In the first few inches of soil? Our barrier is 40cm deep and 10cm above the ground
Hi, the rhizome that has gone furthest is fairly shallow But I would be going round the inside of the barrier with a spade a couple of times later in the year Once the new culms are up it will make rhizome and it may not appear, but you will find it with a spade by gently digging in
They are lovely bamboo without a doubt
Yes and it’s still small!
Good to see the P. Vivax in the flesh so to speak. Shame my garden isn't big enough. Though the front garden hasn't been done yet. 😂
It’s a good plant, this is still small!

@@montongarden Thanks, I’ll do that just in case
what zone are you in? how cold yoor winters get?
Zone 8, can get cold, doesn’t make any difference with these, it’s summer heat that helps more
Fout vivax heeft groene streep...dat aurea geel.
This is vivax
Knip 4 stengels af..rest met scherpe spa.
I’m waiting to see what comes up, then will cut rhizomes where needed, leave for 6 weeks and pot up divisions
