Love the stuff, you’re not pushing a bunch of stuff by big name stores and ramming it down the followers/ viewers throat. Keeping it real, simple and basic. There’s no substitute for woodsman-ship. I’m at best middle class working man, and appreciate the break downs. This channel is banging man. It’s informative and actually helpful to us. Much respect for all your efforts. I’m running asbell wool pathfinder pull over, evening stand color, paird with kings camo sage/ tan ridge pants. Seems to work great so far. Definitely going to look into better under garments. Best of luck this season and thanks for sharing!
I’ve always had issues with cold feet. Past two years I’ve switched out my socks and that makes a world of a difference. I use a wick away layer and wool over that.
Boot junkies United. Top 3, Crispi Thor, Hanwag Makra Combi and the Hanwag Alverstone. People might overlook it, but I the most difference in temp I feel is from the neck gaiter. Mid layers are a huge part, but that damn neck gaiter is the MVP. Best Ive found that doesn't feel like a tire on your neck is the First Lite Mid weight Merino. The aerowool is another solid option for early-mid season. Awesome job on these vlogs and gear dork vids. Here for the gear.
Good stuff Cody. I love a good gear breakdown. I discovered the first ascent pants a few years ago and they're killer. You can find them online for around $40 sometimes. Can't beat that compared to some of the prices that sitka, FL, kuiu, etc charge. Wish I would've got an H1 while you still had some in stock. It looks awesome.
Lots of good information!enjoy the in depth approach, I use a lot of what you posted, I lack layering skills though, get too cold or too hot in Canada. Need to pack in more, and get better quality.
Great video, I do have a question. How do you shed or add layers while at your stand? I currently use a harness I find hard to layer up once at my tree. I usually break a sweat if I wear all my layers from the start and find that layering up at the tree takes more time and makes noise. I hunt public so I'm usually hiking in a couple of miles. What's your process?
I may have to try a gaiter. No faster way for me to get a killer headache than getting cold in the woods. Neck and shoulders tighten up bad and an hour later head splitting open… then a total lack of focus on evening post.
My feet sweat horrible bad so been a process living in Maine for keeping my feet warm. Mounter hunter boots only for maximum support due to sport injuries. Mount boots aren’t great for warmth so again it’s been a journey!!! Sock liners have made a HUGE difference!!! Merino wool socks only from light to heavy weight in combo with liners and my feet stay dry. Arctic shield over boots in pack with a couple hand warmers and my feet stay warm for long sits now.
do you ever have a problem with the bow string slapping your coats? when i wear my down jacket i have this issue and i havent found a solid solution! thanks!
Also curious about the H2. I picked up a H1 recently in medium, and it’s a little snug for my liking, mostly in the shoulders. Would like to try one in large.
What do you do to help your neck? I have issues EVERYDAY my uncle is a mobility expert and is over a large gym in town. He has recommended last week that I come by and try the IronNeck equipment he has.
What is your take on polyester? I feel like it gets me picked off. I started to take a flashlight to my clothing and if there is any shine I don’t wear it. I trying to find more wool and cotton outer layers.
With scent control being a hot topic in today's times, I'm curious to what your scent control regime is. Given your style of hunting, I would assume you like to keep things as simple and as free as possible?
@bi7235 yes and no. I'm well aware of how thermals work. Playing the wind isn't always the "best" way. You gotta give them a little also. The question wasn't necessarily how it works, just his tactics to it. The aforementioned "free" is referring to not using scent away products, being more natural so to speak
@Austin-uq9ms I'm not saying you don't have to play the wind.. whatever works for you keep doing it, sometimes for me i have to say the heck with the wind and hunker down on one. Yall are taking my question out of context, I was simply just asking his tactics on the matter out of curiosity bc of his style of hunting.

Remember boys…concealment is way more important than camouflage. Stay in the shadows! Keep up the good work Cody.
Really liking all the informative stuff you’ve been putting out and hearing your logic behind what you do. Appreciate it 👍🏼
Glad to be seeing more content dude! One slammer down, keep grinding 👊🏻

We have a very similar approach to gear. Cool to see I’m not the only one who isn’t balls deep in expensive camo. Looks into asbell wool pathfinders.
So im pretty basic…. ***looks down*** thinks again… So… I run things pretty basic 😂😂😂 Much love for you bro. Dying Breed 🐺🦌💪🏼🏹
I like Eddie Bauer pants also, very good for the price. Im changing all my hunting clothes to Badlands, awesome quality and the warranty is unbeatable

Absolutely loving and appreciating the content you are putting out and on a regular basis please keep it coming
Very eye opening! I will definitely be switching up my gear after watching this!
Love the earth tones on the H1. Hopefully the H2 is similar
Love my EB Ascent insulated pants.
Pro tip on cheap base layers, costco has 32 heat for like 10 bucks. They are the shit.
Love it man! Could you do a video on what you do about scent control? From human body to clothes etc?
Great video, man!

Great video! Keep em coming
Cody, did your Vivo’s keep the waterproofing for awhile? Love this series!
Bro, that bird chirping got your attention! What was going on? LSD flashbacks or high level Adoral prescription? We be kicking it off wowwwwww!! 😂
Keep them coming great information
Good stuff have to watch this a couple more times and take notes on some of those brand names and give them a try. Thank you.

Put antiperspirant on the bottom of your feet for real this works
hope that new flannel is coming soon?
When are more H1s coming?
I am a flannel guy and I want an H1 sooo bad now.
do you ever have a problem with the bow string slapping your coats? when i wear my down jacket i have this issue and i havent found a solid solution!
thanks!
The down with the H1 is a killer combo. Any update on the H2?
Also curious about the H2. I picked up a H1 recently in medium, and it’s a little snug for my liking, mostly in the shoulders. Would like to try one in large.
@@iancarlisle9661 What size do you normally wear? I see the website says to order a size down. I usually wear medium.

My feet sweat and then freeze too, idk what to do about it.. may try and change socks once I get to the spot
Man I can’t wait to get some better gear ! Got to save up some $$$ lol
You can get some good stuff without spending too much. Just don't buy sitka, first lite, kuiu, etc.
What is your take on polyester? I feel like it gets me picked off. I started to take a flashlight to my clothing and if there is any shine I don’t wear it. I trying to find more wool and cotton outer layers.
two pair of khaki colored wrangler atg work pants boom . save yourself some money
For real. I have those and several pairs of kuhl and the kuhl are loud and swishy.

No such thing as scent free. Hunt the wind, and understand how thermals work. That’s the key stop wasting mental energy worrying.

@@Critterslayer19bro. Ain't no such thing. Deer gonna smell a human no matter what. You have to play the wind

@@Critterslayer19 it's obvious he doesn't give a crap about scent control lol

Fjallraven vidda pro ventilated pants are the sh!t..! Stretchy material from inside your knees up to your nuts they are way worth the money.

Should just get yourself a nice pair of bibs from FL or Sitka and call it a day. Lose those wool pants haha
