Unclog ortho spayer
Thank you, sir. I had watched numerous videos trying to get the nozzle to work, and I had to just had to drop the wand below the bottle, and it started working, I almost bought a new sprayer replacement. Thank you🎉
Awesome! I’m glad it worked!
Just wasted 15 minutes trying to get it to work. My son suggested UA-cam and here you were to the rescue! Thank you sir!
I’m glad I was able to help!
None of these worked, but I did squeeze the container to relieve the excess air in there, while continuously attempting to spray and that worked.
Thanks - THIS is actually what worked for me!
Thank you this actually helped!
omg thank you soo much!!! squeezing it worked!!!
Thank you! That was the solution.
Omfg finally! I had to give it a few good squeezes while keeping the spray going. Then I stopped to let air back in and kept squeezing and it worked.
Thank you!!!
We took your advice on how to hold the bottle up and let the gravity do the work. It worked👍🏽
this wasnt my fix, but I FOUND THE SOLUTION!!! take the lid off and remove the wand hose from the lid, then put the wand hose direct into the fluid. i always wear gloves when dealing with chemicals like these, so put some on. the lid is the failure point, don’t know why but I can at least use the thing how it was designed to be used. maybe they’ll fix it
That's what I did and it's working great now. That on off valve on the cap is a joke, after a while it starts allowing air into the tube and the little pump loses prime. So I removed the valve and drilled a hole through the cap and inserted the tube down into the jug and all worked great.
This worked!
THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you. No trouble shooting on directions which would have been helpful. I appreciate you friend.
Thank you so much! Was getting frustrated with the sprayer. New subscriber! Thank you for taking the time to share. 🙂
At the beginning of the video you said, "I'm going to show you how to unclog...." But you never showed how to unclog. Everything shown should have been known already.
I was interested in the unclog since my nozzle is set to spray (indoor and outdoor options tried), the container is set to ON, the bottle was almost over my head and one of the batteries was replaced as it had died according to my battery tester. Trigger is obviously on because you can press on it if it's off. If you know how to unclog, please uploadthat video.
Oh and I pulled the tube thing out the container to make sure there wasn't a hole or something in the straw thing. There wasn't.
Get a cup of warm water with dish soap and dip the tip of your magic one in it doer two min. Scrub the end with a brush.
Also make sure there is not a kink the line where you fold the sprayer.
If that fails try putting the gallon. One person in the comments posted that. I pinned her comment to the top of the comments section.
His other trick of taking the straw out and turning the nozzle upside down and spraying to see if anything comes out worked for me. He didn’t have that in his video, I found it in these comments.
For me it was a clogged nozzle, just held it a minute under hot water and then ran hot water through it for 10 seconds. Everything else failed :/
Imma try this
I did this as you mentioned, and it worked beautifully--for water. Once the water was out of the hose and the solution began pumping, same problem all over again. Repeated again just in case, same result. Time for a trip to Home Depot for a pump sprayer.
Thank you for the quick vid. Very helpful!
Thank you Boss! I’m glad it helped!
Gravity tip worked. Thanks a lot!😊
Awesome!
Thank you so much, I followed your suggestion and it worked! 👍
Brilliant. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!!!!
I purchased the double pack from costco which comes with 2 - 1.33 gallon containers and they BOTH WONT WORK!! what is going on with these wands???
I found also that input the batteries in the wrong way. The gravity idea worked too!
Thank you bro!!
I’m glad it helped!!
Hello! Thank you for your helpful tips! So... I did everything you suggested, and it started out ok but after about 10 seconds there are only bubbles coming out of the tip of the sprayer. If I hold down the trigger in about 10-20 seconds it starts streaming again BUT in 10 seconds it starts to bubble again. I've checked for clogs on the sprayer and the green straw (that draws up the liquid) and there are no clogs. I checked the white curly piping to make sure there weren't any holes that might create an air pocket. All seems well but it still doesn't do a continuous spray. (Haha- at this rate it will take me a week to spray the perimeter of our house, and our house isn't very big!) Please help if you can- thank you!
I’m sorry that keeps happening. Will holding the bottle above the sprayer help to keep it spraying longer?
I wonder if there’s an air leak inside the area where it pumps in the handle.
@@strategyandperformance Thank you for your reply! Yes, I tried holding the bottle above the sprayer and I could see the liquid working its way up the wand but could not make it past the control section. When I turned the wand upside down (so that the liquid and the few tablespoons could make it to the control section), it would spray - but only that amount. It looked like it wasn't strong enough to draw up the liquid on it's own. I thought it was the batteries, but I used fresh Duracell brand batteries. At this point I'm wondering if it's best to just purchase a hand held pump sprayer and transfer all of the Ortho solution into it.
@@strategyandperformance The height of the bottle or sprayer doesn't matter--that's the purpose of the batteries. I tried to rinse the hose with hot water, and it worked--with water. When I installed back on the bottle, as soon as the water went through the hose, same problem--spitting and a whole lot of nonsense. I believe the problem is the viscosity, and the sprayer can't handle it to spray effectively. This is a manufacturer defect, and with all these sprayers on various Ortho products, they better fix it.
This product is a scam. Just pour it into a spray bottle and use that instead.
I couldn't get the damn thing to work so I came to youtube and thanks to your video I learned it was because the knob was turned in the off position. But I couldn't even see the knob because the manufacturers covered it with tape to keep it from leaking but there was nothing that said to remove the tape.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing your experience with our community. I’m glad we were able to help.
The problem is that the device doesn’t not have enough suction power to get the liquid all the way up to the sprayer. Experiment: I ran the tube under some water upside down and sprayed at the same time and it sprayed perfectly. Hypothesis: gravity allowed the liquid to reach the sprayer immediately and if I were to turn the bottle upside down, it would work. Well, I did that and worked fine, although some liquid spilled. Test it out for yourself and see how that goes. Holding it on its side works too. You will lose some of the liquid, but it’s better than buying a new one.
when you only have 10% liquid left in the bottle, it doesn't work well.
Yes, it’s terrible when the liquid is low.
1, 2, 4...what happened to step 3?
you can contact otho as well to get a replacement
I buy these all of the time but I got one and it doesnt work. I tried using the sprayer from my old one and it's still not working. Everything is turned on and the sprayer works but no matter what I do it won't spray out of the bottle.
Pull out the sprayer lid and straw out, hold it upside down and spray any liquid out.
If it sprays whatever liquid is inside, I see holder upside down this prayer works.
Put it back on and make sure that you have plenty of liquid and left a bottle web of the sprayer and try it again.
If it’s empty, or there is water in the tube but it won’t spray out, you might have a clog tip.
Get some warm water and a little bit of soap in a cup, sink the tip of the sprayer in and let it soak for two minutes. Then scrub it with a brush and try it again. At this point you may just want to use a bucket and water as you walk through trying to clear the sprayer.
Check out section 1:05 in this video to see if that works.

I had to hold the bottle upside down and it worked 🤷🏽♀️.
Squeezing container worked
funny..your title didnt say this is for a magic wand--did it?
Bruh which way do the batteries go in there's no markings
If you unscrew the bottom and pull back the piece that covers it, you will notice positive and negative markings on the metal connectors. Just make sure that the positive is touching positive and negative, negative and you should be good to go.
You, sir, are the man. Thank you very much.
I’m glad I was able to help!
That on off valve on the cap is a joke, after a while it starts allowing air into the tube and the little pump loses prime. So I removed the valve and drilled a hole through the cap and inserted the tube down into the jug and all works great now.
Having this exact issue with mine. Good tip.
Did all that and it still doesn't work. I took the cap off and then remove=d the tube. I washed out the tube and can see water flowing through it. I then took the cap and put it in a cup of water. That worked. I then reattached the tube and puit it in the cup of water. It enptied the tube then quit working. The unit sems to have enough power however it won't wont work with the tube attached.
Yep both ortho and spectracide guns don't work brand new, China junk.
I just replaced batteries, made sure everything was on and still no spray coming out…. What’s next?
Pull the lid out from the container and the tube (straw) should be attached. Position it upside down. If there is liquid in it, spray the nozzle and see if the liquid comes out.
If the liquid comes out of the sprayer, check to see if you have very little liquid in the ortho bottle. If this is a case’s prayer might not be able to pull it out.
If no liquid comes out of the end of the sprayer and there’s some in a tube, your sprayer is blocked.
In this case, you’ll need to get a cup with some water heated up and add some dishwashing soap, soaked the tip of the wand for about 60 seconds. With a brush, scrub the tip.
Before you do that, make sure that you were instant pesticide off the tube of the magic one. Use gloves.
Also, check and that the tube where you collapse and straighten the magic one is not kinked.
That’s actually what was wrong with it I was going against gravity instead of picking up the container and holding the wand down while spraying,
you simply turn the top thing to on rather than opening the bottle. the top thing is not the bottle cap, but above it.
Think my issue is battery related. Holy shit there was a spider around last night hiding under my propane tank. Let my neighbor borrow the tank and he saw it. I did not thank God because I am scared to death of those things. Damn thing was the size of a dinner plate. 😱😱😱
The 5th worked for me😅
I’m glad I was able to help out!
Still don’t work
I just bought one of these and it has no straw in it. Fucking Canadian Tire man, guaranteed it was a return that they just put back on the shelf
Still clogged. On 2nd gallon.
thanks for doing the video - however it does NOT work for me - I hear it trying to pump, I've done everything in your video with zero success - nothing comes out.
I also tried the put the hose directly in the poison, and that does not work either. Luckily, it says there is MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - I just have to mail the receipt to Ortho and get my money back. (It did work the first few times I used it, but now after a couple of months, nothing)
Thanks for sharing this. This is a real problem. They need to fix. The first time I bought Ortho it worked well just like you. That bottle didn’t work after a few months. That’s when I made this video. I’ve had lots of comments of people having the same issue. Yes, get your money back!
Make sure batteries are in correctly, I made the mistake of thinking all the flat sides faced the springs lol!
He doesn't mention the batteries
Still not working
Didn’t fix
None if it still worked
Useless
What are you having problems with? If your wand is spraying and there is nothing coming out, get a cup of hot water and soap. Dip the tip for two min. Pull it out and scrub it. Before you do that if you haven’t done so, follow the steps on this video in at 1 minute and 6 seconds.

I have the battery operated one 🥲
