If you are second, the only thing you can do is force a tie. to do so, follow this: if the middle is free, place it there, otherwise, place it in a corner. If they have 2 x' in opposite corners and you have the o in middle, place it in a side spot. Also obvious if they have 2 in a row, block it. This will make your friends refuse to play tic tac toe with you! (so now you can win in rock-paper-scissors)
This actually solves the old problem that is encountered when two skilled players play against each other and the player who went first wins every time.
