The choreography of Chang throwing his ice skate, Annie ducking as it smashes the window, then standing up as the blinds fall back down in front of her, so she's able to get snatched by the zombies is a masterpiece.
It was also probably a texas switch - she ducks down out of frame and when "she" comes back up we don't get a good look at her face. It was probably a stunt actress being dragged out (which makes sense and imo makes the choreography even more impressive).
Fun fact: Dan Harmon was set on Abba for this episode. He wouldn't consider anything else. But the cost to license would have basically eaten the entire season's budget, so he just paid for it himself. He actually personally paid the licensing fee for nearly all the music used in the show. Also, some fun continuity: In Rich's first episode, Beginner Pottery, Jeff has to come to the realization that he's not special, and then of course here he yells "nobody's special!"
It's also partly because Dan Harmon was bad at going over budget, so this was not the only time he had to personally pay for music rights. The Russo brothers were able to rein him in most of the time, but once they were not around full time Community budgets started getting stressed badly, requiring cost cutting elsewhere. This was a major reason why Harmon got fired - he was a bad producer.
I think this is the first episode I can think of where they show Troy really takes Jeff's opinions to heart. He has a really high opinion of Jeff and seems to really want Jeff's approval. It isn't something brought up or confronted really, like a main plot point, but you can notice it from time to time.
Chang's "ya bit?" routine was a call-back to episode 101, where he says that his knowledge of Spanish will "bite your face off," after which he mimes biting Shirley's face and yells "Ya bit! YA BIT!"
@@Francis... It's from a viral video of some guys passionately arguing about The Wizard of Oz. You'll find it easily if you look up "she came down in a bubble"
I love that Chang called Troy because he knew that he had the highest propability to survive despite the movie clichee regarding his skin colour. Abed even put his thumb on this when he helped him out of the cellar.
The Community bloopers are pretty available on youtube. You guys should react to those too. Mostly because there is a lot of improv in them, I think more so then other bloopers. Its more like extra footage than just flubs.
I saw this episode when it first aired and it took me 10 yrs to notice the following joke, and now it's one of my favourites: Chang: Hey, guess who I am. ABBA: You are the dancing queen...
1:50 Calvin: "that would totally work on me..." 😄 Mee too! 😄 Definitely one of my favorite episodes. The one with ABBA in the background is fantastic. "Zombie aleeert!" " 🎶 You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life...🤗"
Right on the month, this is one of the best episode of season 2 and one of those episode that make you "this show is getting awsome crazy". Dont forget what happen in this episode, people. When people forget something in one episode, you know something big secret is coming on this way...
3:19 didn't notice the scream at first but i think i recognise it from when green goblin full on jump scares spider man (Tobey) in that burning building
Good reaction and one of my favorite S2 episodes or whatever but I can't believe how much I relate to Eric needing the volume to be on an even number. He knows what's up.
I've been waiting for MONTHS for you guys to get to this episode! It's one of my Top 3 or 4 "Community" episodes -- and my favorite Halloween episode of any series!

The choreography of Chang throwing his ice skate, Annie ducking as it smashes the window, then standing up as the blinds fall back down in front of her, so she's able to get snatched by the zombies is a masterpiece.
And also an homage to "dawn of the dead" recall correctly.
There is a scene practically identical with a window.
When I first saw this when it aired, I nearly died of laughing. It was so good!!! 😂😂😂
This was definitely an homage to Shaun of the Dead
Alison Brie is *so* good at physical comedy
It was also probably a texas switch - she ducks down out of frame and when "she" comes back up we don't get a good look at her face. It was probably a stunt actress being dragged out (which makes sense and imo makes the choreography even more impressive).
The line delivery when Troy says “Is somebody throwing it?!” 🤌🏾🤌🏾
It's so perfect

That's last point is amazing. I forgot about Jeff's realisation that he's not special.
kudos for Dan Harmon, he knew what had to be done to elevate the quality of his work

@@michaelw8262 I mean, it's easy to go over budget when you're just focused on the art and not the business side

Jeff punching the girl in the bee costume with full force always kills me 😂😂

It isn't something brought up or confronted really, like a main plot point, but you can notice it from time to time.
And Jeff continues to knock him down a peg every time he feels like Troy is growing, so it only leads Troy to resent him a bit
"Still cool as a zombie, Jeff"
No matter how many times I've watched this episode, the horror movie cat trope never gets old.
Is it a trope? All I remember is Alien.
@@fakecubed A random cat making noise is like in almost every horror movie or suspense thriller.

He repaired man.

This episode is so good it ends with Blind Wave going to Valhala
I have a very deep love for ABBA, community, and Halloween so this episode is near perfection for me. Seriously I watch it every year at Halloween
"She came down in a BUBBLE!" 😩😂😭
Eric, you absolute king.

So you're saying Chang is racist?
@Francis... Didn't Pierce thought Shirley was Troy's mom in the first season?
the cat gag is one of my favourite jokes in the entire show its so funny
"What can Community NOT do now?" Well, something tells me you'll ask that question quite a bit more in the future :P
"Why George Takei?" Why ABBA? Why a zombie episode for a sitcom? Because it's Community
That cat bit is one of my all time favourite moment of Community! I love how incredibly ridiculous it is! and Troy's voice always gets me.
ABBA was my favourite band one upon a time and they still put me in such a fun mood. Love this episode.
Aaron’s face cracked me out when he saw Shirley and Chang 😂
This is my favorite Halloween episode of any sitcom. It doesn’t get better than this .
02:09 Annie's screaming always gets me rolling 😂
Calvin's Dean impression at 12:00 was so good 🤣
The puppy chow and milk not for drinking probably was for some kind of dalmatian fetish thing, now that you mention it.
As someone who loves Mamma Mia I can’t believe I forgot there were multiple abba songs and now I love this episode even more
I liked the storm subplot being resolved at the end.
Oh god I'm turning into Abed..
