I turned my Smokey Joe into a smoker with an aluminum tamale stock pot. I smoked a large pork butt for 10 hours. Simply delicious and was falling apart.
For a first timer I would like to see more of the inside of grill when putting the lit coals in . since my husband recently passed I am trying things myself.
Great video! Recently moved to London from the states and downsized to a Smokey joe from my big USA gas grill. This got us off to a perfect start. Cheers!
Thanks for the tip brother! I recently bought a camp chef cooking table to get up off the ground. It makes using the little grill more enjoyable and easier on us as we get older👍
Thank you for this video . I got the Smokey joe last night and I couldn’t get the charcoal started and I was unable to make it hot enough either, today I was able to fix those problems. I subscribed
Just bought the same grill thanks for showing us your tips and tricks! lovely presentation looking forward to watch the rest of your videos! cheers from Salt Lake city!
Great video! You can put all of the hot coals on one side of that 14” kettle to get a hot 50/50 zone heat for searing with the lid off, then move the steaks over to the not-hot side and put the lid on to slowly increase the steak’s internal temp. I really like the relaxed style of your video!
Great video! I start my chimney with a paper towel pr 2 soaked with bacon grease! Each time I cook bacon, I save the grease in a glass jar in the fridge. To start the chimney, I rub paper towels in the grease and it starts right up! And no oily smell! Thanks!
Good clear presentation. You teach things that I have never heard of . Any tips on what kind of hot dos , Hebrew or ? And tip on how to cook them. Thank you for all your videos. You are doing a great job . Do you have any videos and recommendations on types of gr
Thanks, Anthony! I use the little Weber when it's just me around for a steak or chop when the wife's away but always hose it up using newspaper to light in the chimney. Ashes go everywhere and used Tumbleweeds tonight. No mess! Thanks again!
Another great vid! Thanks much. I recently found your channel via searching for a Weber Smokey Joe Premium grill review. Already subscribed & looking forward to checking out your other videos. Wish you much success with your UA-cam channel. 🍔😃
Thank you so much for making this video. Tried grilling for the first time yesterday and failed miserably. Just ordered a chimney and fire starter and going to give it a try again today. This video was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Great video, i just bought that same Weber Smokey joe and on my first barbecue I made the mistake of no waiting enough for the chimney to burn the charcoals, I also used liquid fuel, next time I’ll use none liquid
Hey Ant your a top guy thanks for showing me how to light my chimney which to be honest just hangs up I the garage and don’t get used, I will start using it again, also I am getting a big egg bbq like your red one is there anything special I should do? Or just fire up the same way and pour the coals into the egg once they are hot enough? Maybe you could do a couple of vids on using the egg bbq as your obviously an expert and know your stuff plus I want to know how to cook on the new egg bbq properly, thanks mate from London England 👍
Good day mate! Thanks for watching. Yeah for your ceramic grills like a big green egg the method is the same. Once the coals are mostly gray in your chimney then they're ready to pour on your grill.
@@antstill_bbq another mistake I made which may seem obvious to many was cooking with lid on when grill wasn’t hot enough. Cooking with lid on will lower temp. Take lid off to raise temp.
The Smokey Joe isn’t the best with heat retention and airflow to be honest. Quick cooks like brats, burgers, and maybe shrimp would be my primary recommendations. By the time you start losing the heat hopefully the food is finishing up
hey Anthony. I know you already released a couple of videos with the smokey joe premium with the side damper. I own the same BBQ. do you find it difficult to sear steak on this BBQ especially with the lid closed? I noticed that the only way to get a sear with my BBQ is if I leave the lid completely open so alot of air gets to the coal. i just wanted to make sure I'm not the only one.
I am till this point where everything went well but I am not sure how to retain the heat . If I close the lid the the charcoal becomes cool because of lack of air . I had to keep the grill open and keep on blowing the air to keep the charcoal burning . Is this the right method ?
the smokey joe doesn't need a lot of charcoal so i use an old tomato juice can with both ends cut out as a chimney starter, works great and is the perfect size. the price is also decent :)
If you're using it without a chimney you can. You can also place the firestarter on top of the bottom grill and stack the wood or charcoal around it in a pyramid style.
Completely found this video by chance as I am doing research on my new Smokey Joe. Greetings from London, fella...
Thanks so much for checking out my channel good sir! I'm glad I could deliver some content from across the pond.

Oh yeah. That works too.
Thank you for this as I keep lard in the fridge so it’s good to know vs having to keep buying another item over and over again

No problem! If there is anything you want to see me make on the grill let me know and I'll make it happen.

Good video. I was having troublev getting my Smokey Joe hot enough to cook anything.. I wasn’t leaving them in the chimney long enough.
Oh yeah I usually let the coals turn grey before I dump them on the grill.

Just found this…awesome tips
New sub
Thanks for the sub! Winsome!
Thanks for Sharing 🙋🏻♀️,just a question how long does the charcoal stay hot warm after you put it in the barbecue ?
Hey mate- nice video. I would love to know how you use your vents on your Smokey Joe… I seem to burn my coal out too quick and loose the heat

@@antstill_bbq thanks for the reply
Awesome I'm grilling today...Thank you.
Cheers fella, great advice.
When your finished grilling how long does it take the coals too go out before you put it away?
I let them sit until the next day but if I had to guess maybe 4-6 hours.
Thank you for this!

You are not the only one😡😆. To get it hot you have to keep the dampers wide open and the grill at least cracked. I thought it was just me Lol.
@@anthonystill7415 thanks for the confirmation. Keep up the great work. I subscribed to your channel :)
Ppreciate it Jack. Stay tuned.
Do you use the chimney with match lite coal

do you put the fire starters underneath the bottom grill?
If you're using it without a chimney you can. You can also place the firestarter on top of the bottom grill and stack the wood or charcoal around it in a pyramid style.
@@antstill_bbq Thank you brother
Is there such a thing as charcoal getting too old to use to bbq?
Video starts at 1:31. You are welcome. Thank you.
Great tips and insight Ant! #BubbaApproves
I appreciate that good sir! 😎
For small amounts of coal I turn the chimney upside down. And fill up the underside. Perfect for lighting smaller amounts
Dang… why have I never thought of that? Thanks

Hey Welcome! Let me know if there are some topics you'd like to see my discuss.
What happened to your ash pan lol
No mention of the Dampers/Vents!👎
Don't shop at Wal-Mart. They treat their employees like crap and are terrible for the environment. Thank you for the great tips.
