Two new arrivals First start up at the LMMR 26/11/2022

- An exciting day at the Llanelly & Mynydd Mawr Railway today, as two of our most recent arrivals were started up for the first time.
They are SR Class 73, 73130, and MOD Personnel/Trolley unit AD9117.
Another two rare vehicles that have been added to the Railway's ever growing stock.
Nice to see the ED is still about. I used to drive these as a driver on BR and on Eurostar. Those Scharfenberg couplings were very useful for towing the 373's around and shunting.
Thanks Peter, it's very kind of you to share your experiences regarding 73130. It's strange for it to be allocated in deepest Carmarthenshire, but a great addition to the fleet.
Still quite a few of those old girls on Southern metals, many at present in the GBRf stable at Tonbridge Bob, mostly in pairs on RHTT duty.
A very versatile loco Brian, and ideal for a small concern like ours. Thank you.

Good captures Bob. Nice to know the new acquisitions work! I like the little trolley unit, with its boxy shape it would be very easy to model
Thanks Autin, the People carrier is a great addition to the fleet, and will be ideal, to run a few passengers up and down the line.

Please take those hideous appendages off the 73 😢 And will you be laying a third rail for the 73 to use or will it be diesel only 😂
It's how it was in its working life Phil, even though, not the most attractive looking loco. With its Diesel power unit, an ideal loco for our Railway.

Hi new to your channel. What's with the equipment on the buffers on the class 73
Class 373 TMST older TGV style Eurostar trains use couple to. Not compatible with new Siemens E320 trains.

Nice work on covering some movements of equipment around in the yard Bob. I guess it was cold there diesel engines don't like cold.
Little story Bob when I worked and the CN Railway they bought approx 20 or so delivery and pickup 14 vans with 6 cylinder British diesel Perkins engines.
Come winter not one of them would start. You would look down the line and all you could see was hoods up in the air waiting for a boost start.
Two winters went bye all those trucks were gone LOL.

Love the little trolley unit, a bit bigger than the Whickham ones we have filmed in Somerset. Strange to see a 73 in Wales but with everything going electric a third rail will be the next addition lol! Nice that she has been saved. With all these new loco's arriving they will soon need some more buildings to store them all. Best wishes Chris

They were designed for working with Eurostar Trains Ross, they are called Scharfenberg coupling adapters.

There's an impressive collection up there now Brian, with plenty of room for further expension, It is the attention to retain the couplings, as they were part of it's work at the Channel tunnel. The three logos each side indicating that connection....Best wishes...Bob.

AD9117 Sounds like my front wheel drive Morris 1100 starting up on a cold morning
Nice one Paul, most Diesel engines need a little coaxing when cold.

When a small concern can aquire them at a reasonal cost, and the fact they have a diesl power unit, makes it a worthwhile purchase.
Just need a 373 to couple to and drag about now 😜

No David, this is a different one. Barry took the couplings off theirs.
