  • I love the Wahkeena Falls hike. It is a nice elevation gain of about 1500 feet with several incredible falls on the hike up. Wahkeena Falls has several tiers.
Switch backs take you up out of the gorge and get shorter as you get higher up. Lemmons Point is at the top of the first set of switch backs. This is a nice viewpoint with both East and West views of the Columbia Gorge. The trail heads away from the river at this point and up the Wahkeena Creek.
The trail eventually goes through a small ravine about 30 feet wide along with the creek. This is my favorite part of this hike.
Beyond this are additional switchbacks along the creek. Fairy Falls is smaller but very nice.
Fairy Falls had a couple tree come loose and fall across the falls. The huge plank across the stream below the falls was broken in half, but the stream is still easy to cross. I like the nails (large brads) they hammered into the plank to assist with any slipperiness that might happen.
The unnamed falls on the creek flowing down the canyon are almost the highlight. Each switchback has another view of the creek and its path flowing down the canyon.
The first junction is fa turn off for Vista Point. We continued on the mail trail to the second junction that goes to Angel’s Rest (2.6 miles). We took this trail .01 miles to Wahkeena Springs. It looks like this is where the Wahkeena Creek starts but maps have it starting high up.
The trail continues uphill until you reach a trail junction at 1530 feet elevation for the Vista Point or Multnomah Falls. We chose to head out to Vista Point; the trail is overgrown and the viewpoint only has a view east. It is a perfect view right up the Columbia River Gorge looking eastward, but Lemmons Point is a bit better. It is overgrown for most of the 0.7 miles hike along it. Although we went to Wahkeena Springs and then the viewpoint, I would recommend skipping the Vista Point trail and continuing to Multnomah Falls and doing the 5.1 mile loop.
The Vista Point trail brings you back down just above Fairy Falls. The hike along the creek is great. I loved going back down and viewing the creek and all the unnamed falls along the trail. We passed through the small gorge and back onto the top on the switch backs. We hit Lemmons Point on the way down and continued to Wahkeena falls and along the trail back to the parking lot.

Fairy Falls is one of the prettiest falls in the Gorge. Nice video thanks for sharing.
