To those with negative comments about 3 navigation units For long distance riding 2-3 GPS is pretty normal, you use one for current navigation, second to find fuel or food and not lose your current and ya know as a back up device in case the first one shits itself. the built in Honda unit is minimally functional, and you have the Garmin which are good and his phone.. which is good if you've downloaded maps or have good cell coverage (not a given thing on long distance rides) and ya know if you have the phone why not keep it handy as an additional backup gps/weather reporting/music/comms device..
This type of setup is used by many competitive rally and long-distance riders. If you don't ride competitively that's fine, but just because it doesn't make sense *to you* that doesn't mean that it's nonsensical.

Hi Mista! Typically, it is best to start with a brand new bike for this type of project. At a minimum, you should start with a completely stock bike, or one with almost no miles. If your bike has already had lighting and various other things installed, it can be harder to work with. Also depending on condition and use, hardware can be stuck or damaged, plastic can be damaged, etc. Each bike is custom and the price depends completely on what you want to do with it. I love a lot of the add ons, a lot but not everything but still looks pretty damn cool and useful. I am a bit skeptical on the auxilliary lights though, feels like you can find something as bright or brighter but on a smaller package, those 2 lights under the mirrors feela kinda TOO big and the ones near the wheel is Im pretty sure you can find better looking or better lighting ones. Terrific job on the looks and thanks for the ideas.
The company that makes the lights, Clearwater Lighting has an array of light sizes and lumen outputs... you can easily pick the ones that suit your needs from their lineup. They are the "gold standard" of aftermarket lighting for durability.
Hi Max, Since I drive a GoldWing GL1800 (SC68) with a sidecar, I am interested in pretty much everything that has to do with the GoldWing. It is very regrettable that such projects are not possible here in Germany. The TÜV (Technical Monitoring Association), which is relevant in our country, does not allow this and thus prevents approval for road traffic. It was a great pleasure to follow the creation of War Horse on your UA-cam channel. Can I ask a question about the built-in front and rear cameras?!? Which front and rear cameras was used at War Horse? Is there a link to this camera e.g. on Amazon? Thank you and good luck with your projects. greeting Manfred
@@manfredo22 Thank you Manfred! It's too bad you can't have something like this over there. Here is the camera system I used: amzn.to/3qEo4us The head unit is not waterproof, which was fine, as I put it in the glovebox. It came with both hardwire and usb power cords. I used the USB power in the glovebox.
Hi Max, Thank you very much for your quick reply. In Germany, some things are special ... 😔 I recently tried to have the Helibars handlebar for the SC68 technically assessed by the TÜV ... - I also received some material reports and other documents from Helibars. Unfortunately - unfortunately for me - the TÜV refused to give me technical approval. Thanks for the link. 👍😊 I could also install the display in the left handside glovebox. Thanks again. greeting Manfred
All the weight Honda took off the bike, you guys put right back on. Honestly the dash area is way to busy, it look more like my office desktop. Last but not least, there is an over kill on the lighting system. But I do like the foot pegs. 😃
@@Traxxion I probably ran across that guy, I was an Air Traffic Controller for 15 years and had no problem looking over a few gadgets and managing an airport without getting confused. I still think the whole thing is an overkill period. If he has money to burn, good for him! I truly don’t see the Work Horse going into production anytime soon, too heavy and not efficient at all. Keep doing what you do brother! By the way, I did like the parking break tie-in, Honda should take note on that one! 😎
@@DexQuin Not sure what weight you are concerned about. The heaviest accessory on the bike is the fuel tank, which is about 50 pounds when full. 100 pounds of accessories is far less than a typical passenger.
@@Traxxion Max, I have to agree with you on that. Like I said earlier keep doing what you, because you bring more good ideas to the table than most. Trust me, I like what you do! 👍
Adam Sandoval named his Harley Davidson Touring motorcycle ''War Horse'' years ago. And that motorcycle is all over UA-cam since forever. Although I love Gold Wing , title only reminds me of Harley Davidson.
Pakit Rak. They have 2 styles, one is for if you have a trailer hitch. The other is a stand-alone frame and mounting kit. Both Rivco and Pakit Rak have "fully hidden" mounting systems now for the 2018+. When not in use, the bike looks stock from the rear.
Well obviously that bike is superlative and laid out beyond any comprehension that I would have. I had a 5-gallon tank on top of my Honda 750 for my first iron butt and that's all I had. My only question with all of the magnificent work is how come you did not put your lock system on the cubby hole in the front? Blessings to Chuck on his journey.
The fuel cell is custom built and is internally baffled. It is more stable than having a passenger, which weighs 3X as much, and moves around constantly. And its pounds, not gallons.
Apparently you've never see a plastic windshield crack off in a crash. The entire windshield becomes a 2 foot wide razor blade. If you are riding a bike with a windshield, it's 100X more dangerous than a Garmin.
@@Traxxion Fortunately I haven't :) I have no doubt, especially with an aftermarket windshield (I also use an aftermarket ...). I believe that Honda will have foreseen this possibility.
What do you think about installing the Darla lights in the place of the OEM foglights? Could have swapable boots, one clear, one yellow depending on need. Curious about why the Pathfinder Cowl lights sequential turn signals were not turned on nor mention of Pathfinder by name
I have seen that done once, it looked fine. In order to change the boots, you would have to remove the cowls each time though. I didn't have all the various brands of lights straight in my head. The only Pathfinder product on the bike was the cowl lights.
I love those top engine covers!! There’s no good way to clean that part of the engine & you’re absolutely correct that it looks like crap. Makes the entire bike look terrible because you cannot clean that part.
Totally agree! We stock them here, so if you ever want any of our other products and gizmos, we can sell you a set and put them in the box to save freight.
@@Traxxion That is perfect. I was assuming they were custom made for only War Horse. I’m definitely ordering some. I already purchased your bolts for the seat. No more lost seat bolt bushings!! Thank you for the information.
Most radar detectors have rearward detection, as does this one. If you put it on the dash, you lose all of that functionality, as the rider blocks all the signals. It has to be as far outboard as possible... like I mounted it! :)!
Not really a lot actually. Most of it is electronics and such. Since he's not riding with a passenger, it's still far less than the bike was designed for.
I have been following his spot tracker. He is not going fast enough to accomplish this ride and getting gas to often. And not taking the most direct route. Is the fuel cell and GPS malfunctioning ?
He is hitting Tour of Honor Points as well along the way. The sanctioning body requires him to stop and record data at intervals of no greater than 350 miles. He has planned to stop at 300 to be safe. He's doing 1000 a day, that's as good as he needs to. Eventually, he'll be doing just the more direct routes.

@@Traxxion Btw how did you put the attaching point of the light on the wheels? I 'm pretty sure i have not seen that on a stock model.
@@albertbinan9370 I modified the clearwater brackets, you can search my channel for "Darla" and it will be there.
Great job - absolutely fantastic... 👍😊
Greetings from Germany 👍😊
Thank you so much 😀 (from the USA!) thanks for watching from Germany!
Hi Max,
Since I drive a GoldWing GL1800 (SC68) with a sidecar, I am interested in pretty much everything that has to do with the GoldWing.
Is there a link to this camera e.g. on Amazon?
Thank you and good luck with your projects.
greeting
Manfred
@@manfredo22 Thank you Manfred! It's too bad you can't have something like this over there.
Here is the camera system I used:
amzn.to/3qEo4us
The head unit is not waterproof, which was fine, as I put it in the glovebox. It came with both hardwire and usb power cords. I used the USB power in the glovebox.
Hi Max,
Thank you very much for your quick reply.
In Germany, some things are special ... 😔
I recently tried to have the Helibars handlebar for the SC68 technically assessed by the TÜV ... - I also received some material reports and other documents from Helibars. Unfortunately - unfortunately for me - the TÜV refused to give me technical approval.
Thanks for the link. 👍😊 I could also install the display in the left handside glovebox.
Thanks again.

Manfred
James Bond would be proud to show off that bike.
HAHA! Thanks!
Excellent work to you and your crew Sir!! 💪👏👏
Much appreciated!
Max, what is the model of that trailer hitch rack? Who makes it? I'm not able to find one like this but I've been looking for it.
Pakit Rak. They have 2 styles, one is for if you have a trailer hitch. The other is a stand-alone frame and mounting kit. Both Rivco and Pakit Rak have "fully hidden" mounting systems now for the 2018+. When not in use, the bike looks stock from the rear.
@@Traxxion Thank you!
@@Kanjo16 Glad to help. We stock those Pakit Raks. I think they are out of stock presently. If you want one, let me know, max@traxxion.com
What does this bike weigh now with all the add-ons?
No clue. But it's not a significant amount of weight. Certainly less than a passenger.
Tank bag = no lock!
Is the WAR HORSE name painted or a Decal?
Those are 2-level decals.
Ok, so the gray is one decal and the white is another?
@@jerrybradford5073 it's a gray base with a black top layer. I didn't want it to "stick out", but rather be subtle, and cool.
Amazing Bike..nice work and good engineering !
You added almost 45 gallons to the top of the bike... and if the tank is 1/2 enpty? WOBLLING from side to side... ?
The fuel cell is custom built and is internally baffled. It is more stable than having a passenger, which weighs 3X as much, and moves around constantly. And its pounds, not gallons.
Money well spent nice work safe travels go with godspeed
That's the plan!
Bro.. Nice Job and Real Nice Bike !! .
Great! attention to detail. You seem to know what you're doing.
Curious- why a 3min loop, instead of continuous, recorder for an epic journey?
It is the maximum loop time available from the camera manufacturer. You could have an editor string them together I'm sure.
Such attention to detail I wish i could use your services but to far for me in nz thanks all the same
Can't wait to visit NZ someday!
This is how you turn your goldwing into “the Star Trek Enterprise”!🤨
Awesome build Max. How did you stop the aux fuel tank from overflowing the stock tank and seeping from the stock filler cap?
Stock filler cap is not vented. The tank is.... we fed into the stock vent.
Sweet build!
Amazing 🤩 job
Thank you! Cheers!
That is do fantastic ..i like goldwing..can u build 1000 cc for the beginner pls
Hi David,
I don't know of any 1000cc touring bikes. The Goldwing is the "Gold Standard"!
Great work! I have an objection regarding the gps base, in case of a crash. I think it's dangerous for the rider. It will work like a blade!
Did you have to upgrade the electrics to power all the accessories?
No, nothing necessary. One big advantage to the modern Wings is that everything is LED so it is very minimal voltage or amperage draw.
I just need to replace my 2014 Valkyrie. Hoping Honda Goldwing will start making a new one before the decade or the double ton millage is reached!
Hi Max i couldnt Find black laggage rack for my 2021 goldwing can you share link for me
There isn't one, we had this one custom powder coated by Miller's Powdercoating in Atlanta, GA.
Very nice. Add some headlight covers to protect that expensive headlight assembly!
It has them... from Clearwater. Suspended polycarbonate lenses with protective film on them from Xpel.
Handle grip heating?
Yes, they are heated from Honda.
Different strokes for different folks. If I do buy a gold wing, the first two things I'll do is a stage 1 or 2 flash tune and Remus exhaust.
Did you do anything to upgrade the power generation system?
No, everything is LED these days... very little power draw.
We did install an Amplink Power Distribution Module, which is connected directly to the battery.
Awesome job Max
This is what happens when you have to much money! Max,you did a great job of mastering all these accessories onto this bike!
This is why the green bike was named "Envy"!
my dream bike 😍
All that and no turbo with nitrous? I like the laser jammer, cameras. Put the radar detector on the dash. Nice work overall.
Most radar detectors have rearward detection, as does this one. If you put it on the dash, you lose all of that functionality, as the rider blocks all the signals. It has to be as far outboard as possible... like I mounted it! :)!
Awesome build, I would love to see it in person. Just curious what do you think the total weight added would be?
@@Traxxion Thanks for the information.
