Hi Mista! Typically, it is best to start with a brand new bike for this type of project. At a minimum, you should start with a completely stock bike, or one with almost no miles. If your bike has already had lighting and various other things installed, it can be harder to work with. Also depending on condition and use, hardware can be stuck or damaged, plastic can be damaged, etc. Each bike is custom and the price depends completely on what you want to do with it. A bike like this one costs anywhere from $10-50,000 to upgrade. This owner spent $50,000.00 on the upgrades, and the total bike was around $80,000. The "new" model bike (2018+) is a great platform for upgrade, because all of the new electronics are plug and play. The previous bike was all "cut and splice". I’ve always, since I was a kid thought Honda Goldwing’s were “Old Fogey” bikes. After having a bunch of different street bikes from Yamaha to BMW and Harley-Davidson I now know why the Goldwing has such a huge cult following… because they are amazing machines and do their job especially well. This Goldwing is next level and now that I’m in my 40’s I have been eyeing Goldwings. I think if I did get a touring bike it’d likely be a Harley-Davidson Road Glide because I absolutely love Harley-Davidson but I wouldn’t write off a Goldwing, and who knows maybe I could have both so I could ride the Harley for short weekend trips and the Goldwing for weeks long adventures. I dunno, but I do know is that I like BIKE… ALL BIKES! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
What you describe is very common... HD for around town "Stylin", and a Wing for actual touring. Most wives won't ride a HD on a long trip, so they make their husbands buy a Wing! Clearly, the new bike was aimed at bringing in a "younger" rider than the previous models.
@@LongDistanceMotorcycleFans has she ever been on a Goldwing??? I've never heard of that. It's 100% of the time "wife won't ride a Harley, she made me buy a Wing". We know tons of guys who have a HD to be "cool" for riding around town with the fellas, but have a Wing for any actual riding.
@@Traxxion Well I guess I’m your first, and I only ride about 20,000 miles a year, this year it looks like I may be over 30,000. Most of that is with my wife on the back so yeah I think you consider us real riders.
To those with negative comments about 3 navigation units For long distance riding 2-3 GPS is pretty normal, you use one for current navigation, second to find fuel or food and not lose your current and ya know as a back up device in case the first one shits itself. the built in Honda unit is minimally functional, and you have the Garmin which are good and his phone.. which is good if you've downloaded maps or have good cell coverage (not a given thing on long distance rides) and ya know if you have the phone why not keep it handy as an additional backup gps/weather reporting/music/comms device..
All the weight Honda took off the bike, you guys put right back on. Honestly the dash area is way to busy, it look more like my office desktop. Last but not least, there is an over kill on the lighting system. But I do like the foot pegs. 😃
@@Traxxion I probably ran across that guy, I was an Air Traffic Controller for 15 years and had no problem looking over a few gadgets and managing an airport without getting confused. I still think the whole thing is an overkill period. If he has money to burn, good for him! I truly don’t see the Work Horse going into production anytime soon, too heavy and not efficient at all. Keep doing what you do brother! By the way, I did like the parking break tie-in, Honda should take note on that one! 😎
@@DexQuin Not sure what weight you are concerned about. The heaviest accessory on the bike is the fuel tank, which is about 50 pounds when full. 100 pounds of accessories is far less than a typical passenger.
@@Traxxion Max, I have to agree with you on that. Like I said earlier keep doing what you, because you bring more good ideas to the table than most. Trust me, I like what you do! 👍
I'm sure some will freak out about that price tag at the end... but what makes that even worse is you buy products (kuryakyn) that's completely junk. I have the passenger and driver floorboards, upper and lower air deflectors, driver highway pegs from kuryakyn witch all required modifications, and in a shop setting that's more time the customer has to pay in labor. Kuryakyn should offer a full refund to the "war horse". Chances are the "war horse" will be removing those lower air deflectors because they'll dig into the riders legs while using the highway pegs plus they rattle even with foam tape between the plastics. Yanked mine off a few weeks ago.
Within the first week, the hardware on the wind deflectors is already rusting. They also have a horrible shockingly ugly scar on the face looking up at the rider on each side, from where they are filled in the mold...
Also you are right... this guy was paying $125 per hour for me to fix and repair parts that didn't fit, had bad instructions, required tech support, etc, etc. over and over and over and over.
@@Traxxion with your time and the cost of kuryakyn products you damn near could've machined your own custom parts for the war horse. Reason that guy wanted you to work on his bike is he wanted the best to ensure no issues on his journey so the labor cost at the end was completely and 100% justified. Bike has 2 miles on it and you was able to find problems especially the kuryakyn ones.... imagine if he was in the middle of nowhere and all those issues popped up.
Great Japanese motorcycle paired with American custom innovation to bring it to the next level, the stratosphere. Love all that electronic warfare tech.
He DID take the trip, and successfully completed 6 True-Xs, got all of the Tour of Honor Sites in the Four Corner States, got Covid on the trip, and was sick and out, had multiple crazy things like a rock knocking a hole in his oil filter, etc. 75,600 miles he completed, and slept by his bike at night, never stayed in a hotel!!!!!!!
Pakit Rak. They have 2 styles, one is for if you have a trailer hitch. The other is a stand-alone frame and mounting kit. Both Rivco and Pakit Rak have "fully hidden" mounting systems now for the 2018+. When not in use, the bike looks stock from the rear.
greatly overdid and redundant. why do we have so many lights in front. why do you need lights when you have the best lighting (the Sun). adding alot of unappreciated weight to an already heavy motorcycle. and adding additional tanks on top of the passenger seat definitely adds alot of weight and raises the central of gravity of the bike and making it more top heavy. really alot of money that is not well spent. defeats the purpose of buying a goldwing. i think he needs a horse with a wagon to carry more hay to feed the horse...lol

Clearly, the new bike was aimed at bringing in a "younger" rider than the previous models.
My wife made me buy an H-D Electra Glide
@@LongDistanceMotorcycleFans has she ever been on a Goldwing??? I've never heard of that. It's 100% of the time "wife won't ride a Harley, she made me buy a Wing". We know tons of guys who have a HD to be "cool" for riding around town with the fellas, but have a Wing for any actual riding.
@@Traxxion Well I guess I’m your first, and I only ride about 20,000 miles a year, this year it looks like I may be over 30,000. Most of that is with my wife on the back so yeah I think you consider us real riders.
To those with negative comments about 3 navigation units
For long distance riding 2-3 GPS is pretty normal, you use one for current navigation, second to find fuel or food and not lose your current and ya know as a back up device in case the first one shits itself. the built in Honda unit is minimally functional, and you have the Garmin which are good and his phone.. which is good if you've downloaded maps or have good cell coverage (not a given thing on long distance rides) and ya know if you have the phone why not keep it handy as an additional backup gps/weather reporting/music/comms device..
People who don't know like to tell YOU what YOU don't need...
Amazing 🤩 job
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow Max you have certainly raised the bar for all of us in terms of doing things correctly. Nicely done what a magnificent bike build.
Thank you very much!
Excellent engineering - professional workmanship.
Now that is a GOLDWING 🦾👍🏿💯
you forgot the trunk lights
There's nothing available for the 2021 trunk from any company yet.
@@bigk7788 yeah, it just shouldn't be that hard.

I like how he says it's going to be a 15 minute video at the beginning 😂. Not a Goldwing fan, but this bike is amazing for its intended purpose.
Yep, I missed on that one... you should have seen how long it was before I had it edited down!
That is do fantastic ..i like goldwing..can u build 1000 cc for the beginner pls
Hi David,
I don't know of any 1000cc touring bikes. The Goldwing is the "Gold Standard"!
Great Japanese motorcycle paired with American custom innovation to bring it to the next level, the stratosphere. Love all that electronic warfare tech.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!
my dream bike 😍
It really is a bike beyond imagination.
Thank you sir for this demonstration which was really great.
A big greeting to you from Iraq.....
Thank you Wameed!
Hi Max i couldnt Find black laggage rack for my 2021 goldwing can you share link for me
There isn't one, we had this one custom powder coated by Miller's Powdercoating in Atlanta, GA.
Very nice. Good luck to Chuck on the True X. I don't think I'll be making a trip like that anytime soon but maybe that can be a retirement goal.
@@Traxxion Legendary!!!
Nice
Thanks!
This is awesome Max, I love the work you put in the bikes that you do work on, I'm sure I may be back to see you for my bike again!
Thanks Bro!
@@Traxxion You're welcome!
Max, what is the model of that trailer hitch rack? Who makes it? I'm not able to find one like this but I've been looking for it.
Pakit Rak. They have 2 styles, one is for if you have a trailer hitch. The other is a stand-alone frame and mounting kit. Both Rivco and Pakit Rak have "fully hidden" mounting systems now for the 2018+. When not in use, the bike looks stock from the rear.
@@Traxxion Thank you!
@@Kanjo16 Glad to help. We stock those Pakit Raks. I think they are out of stock presently. If you want one, let me know, max@traxxion.com
greatly overdid and redundant. why do we have so many lights in front. why do you need lights when you have the best lighting (the Sun). adding alot of unappreciated weight to an already heavy motorcycle. and adding additional tanks on top of the passenger seat definitely adds alot of weight and raises the central of gravity of the bike and making it more top heavy. really alot of money that is not well spent. defeats the purpose of buying a goldwing. i think he needs a horse with a wagon to carry more hay to feed the horse...lol
5 gallons of fuel weighs in an internally baffled tank weighs around 40 pounds.
How much does your wife weigh?
Yeah, I thought so....
Very nice. Add some headlight covers to protect that expensive headlight assembly!
It has them... from Clearwater. Suspended polycarbonate lenses with protective film on them from Xpel.
Amazing Bike..nice work and good engineering !
James Bond would be proud to show off that bike.
HAHA! Thanks!
Awesome build Max. How did you stop the aux fuel tank from overflowing the stock tank and seeping from the stock filler cap?
Stock filler cap is not vented. The tank is.... we fed into the stock vent.
Holy crap
It's really cool.
Thanks!
