Also, the whole obsession with making PIZZA the literal goal of the movie was ridiculous.... and why was there no blood/bodies on the streets during the whole movie? Did the monster clean up everytime they kxlled someone?
Late to the party, but finally got around to watching AQP:DO last night and I have to say I can't remember the last time I was so disappointed/underwhelmed by a movie. I literally dozed a couple of times. Had medium expectations going in, but, it's like the film makers didn't understand what made the first two films so effective. Sure, they're not the best, but, they're great character-focussed tales that have genuine tension and pay-off. What was once a cleverly woven series of set-pieces focussed on people we care about has devolved into thousands of faceless people and monsters running around in circles. How do people know so much about sound triggers in the first hour or two of the gangly creatures arriving? Where is the military (apart from blowing bridges up)? Why should we care? Why can the creatures here a fart in a bean can from 5 blocks away.. and then not hear people's footsteps or talking when they're rubbing noses? These f*ckers have more selective hearing than my Dad. Lupita Nyong'o is fantastic. She's fantastic in this. Her performance is literally this movie's one redeeming feature.
I'm shocked to see you have pushback in your comments lol. This was such a bad movie. With strong ideas, and extremely good plot beats, but horrible final product. We've seen what this director can do with a good studio, and now we know what happens when this director is absorbed into a franchise. Grossness. Anybody who likes this movie is naive to cinema lmfao. Sorry, but it's pretty simple. You can like it, and there's nothing wrong with that, there's just 5 million mid-range movies that are better than this.
Another movie where the main character can be completely rude and obnoxious to others yet get applauded, supported, and catered to by submissive people. I'm so sick of this DEI nonsense. The entire movie was just ridiculous and inconsistent. The aliens can hear a shirt ripping but can't hear when the characters are whispering to e/o in the street? The cat incredibly finds her every single time, and the characters (Djimon and son with the gal) keep meeting up in _New York_ !! The guy climbing back to get the cat took the cake for me...if the cat can follow and find you while out wandering for medication, it can certainly follow you back.
Agree it's terrible. Besides the fact that they needed to DEI it there is no logic, no heart, no decent writing in any of this movie. Why should the audience care about the main character when she doesn't care about her own life? Why go get pizza it's just a dumb plot point that didn't need to be there. How bout you have a necessity that keeps them from leaving instead of just getting pizza? Then she stays at the end for no reason? This movie is just horrible.
I knew the movie wanted me to like the main characters but I didn’t care at all. I was so desperate for action I was great with them getting destroyed. This movie was terrible and bland.
they totally fucked it up within the first 13 minutes 😀 that was an awful film. I thought the acting was ok but fucking hell that was a terrible film. there should just almost never be a sequel to most things
I don't agree with you on this. This movie was an extremely great watch and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love how the characters were written without being over-explained. I liked the cat companion, even if he made me want to strangle it haha. I don't think this movie necessarily needed to connect to the other ones with the characters, we're simply following a new story. And I think everyone's acting was excellent
@@poundmytomtomThey’re allowed to like it. I completely disagree with the movie being great, but it’s whatever. All I know is that the movie bored me to tears.
I think the reason as to why I was disappointed with this film is because there's so much potential for an iconic story about two characters who can grow from one another. Lupitas character, Sam, has potential as a broken character who doesn't fear death and has very little motivation to live. Her character has been walking the line between life and death, and the frustration of that is the reason why she's so bitter. If I were to write Eric, I would put more emphasis on his will to live and survive and this his fear of death. Maybe Sam could have better survival skills (actually in the movie she pretty much survives all of the monster attacks somehow so she's pretty good) which Eric realizes and stays with her for that reason, you know rather than just following her. Through this relationship they can learn from one another. Sam would be inherently more brave because she's got nothing to lose (also id nuke the cat it's just there for cute cat moments) and so Eric would learn to be more brave too. Like for example when Sam's character needs him to get her medicine there could have been more of an emphasis on how scared he is to go out by himself. It would be great to have a moment where he hesitates to leave that church but still chooses to go because he cares about Sam. I feel like in the movie he just does it? I was like wow ok I guess he's brave now. Being brave requires people to overcome fear. I feel like it was kinda implied in the movie but could have been executed better. He could then be encouraged by Sam to join the boat group and venture off by himself. Sam's motivations are sort of there too but a little muddy. The father concept was introduced quite late into the film. I think instead of pizza being the motivation, maybe it's the jazz club. Id change her background to be that she used to love music and would play piano with her father, but after her father passed she couldn't get herself to play the piano because it reminded her of her father. Then at the end when the two characters separate, she will play the piano for the last time, essentially getting to choose when she dies, and seeing it as a relief - from grief and from the threat of death that looms over her. I feel like this film felt bland. Sort of like a point A to point B narrative. The character themes are there, but not fully utilized. Also I dislike the cat it just shows the plot armor the characters have. There's no more mystery, because we've all seen the first two films, and so what's left to tell? A story about characters has to be the focus. I would have loved to see people figure out more about how the creatures operate, I feel like the government just knew somehow super fast and told everyone. This film is a bit too much of a good thing and missed out on a potentially Iconic movie with memorable characters. It's good, but it's not great.
you do have better writing on the characters but i genuinely feel like this concept would have the same result with op's video because it's kind of the plot just executed better. what i really like most from your change is the piano part, instead of the radio, she would play the song that she would always play together with her dad one last time, piano playing in the background while the monsters chases after the noise in the jazz club. i liked the cat companion, i think horror movies should have more animal companions especially cats but i do wish they did more with it. the only thing i wouldn't change is the magic cards scene, its pretty cute. i feel like people wanted to see more action, or alien lore. instead they got a human adaption with heartful message BUT bad execution so that just makes it worse.
The creatures can survive the vacuum of space and somehow survive the very loud sounds of the meteor they arrive on entering earth atmosphere. A hearing aid and shotgun can kill them but they survive the impact of the meteor impact as well. But they drown fast. What a joke
this is a very bad take on the film in my opinion. She didn't care about getting to the boats because she was already dying. So rather than attempt to survive only to die very shortly after, she just wanted to get pizza for the very last time. Yes, they quickly figured out sound was what attracted the monsters, same as in the opening of A quiet place: Part II. Lupita Nyong'o is a fantastic actress, and she did great in the film. The part where they were in the bar was a beautiful scene. The thing about the cat, I don't completely disagree, but overall, this was a pretty good movie. I Strongly encourage people to watch it themselves and form their own opinions
@@Dudewheresmycarnivore lol he should've just said that then instead of saying "ummmm why didn't the terminally ill cancer patient want to live in the post apocalyptic world 😹😹😹"
Unfortunately, the movie suffers for lack of good writting. They explain nothing, which is what prequels are for, and break the current canon (monster drowning in 5 secs). Owned a cat my whole life and that wasn't a cat. It was quiet, didn't mind being held indefinitely and always came back. The monsters are supposed to move so fast you barely see them on screen, when they attack, but here they sprint up to you and then wait a few seconds to grab you. Just not adding folly for people walking around rumble and debris covered streets is not how you make a character quiet. There would scraping and crunching regardless of how light footed you were. They could have made a great suspense movie with the people learning they need to be quiet, but instead no. If the military knew this why were they not doing runs to draw the monsters into navel range and gun them down. Or at least do constant passes to distract the monsters from the people, especially during the marching scene. Though I did like the scene in the bar. I thought it was cute, bacause the leads did a great job. There needed to be more of that. People realising that groups make to much noise and everyone splittling off. A lot of options, but they just didn't put the thought in I guess (not actually sure what happened during the writting of course). It's really too bad.
I thought this was way more drama than suspense. Definitely not much horror. If you're interested in people crying and worrying about their feelings during an apocalyptic event then you'd probably like this. If you want people focusing on surviving then you'll probably split half way through. The actors are good in their drama roles but I lost interest in anyone surviving except the cat.
At this point, I feel we should have just kept it at the first movie - this one felt like a cash grab; as most post-covid movies are feeling these days 😪.
The level to which you did not understand this story at all is wild. It was a great movie with beautiful poetic layers behind a satisfying and simple plot Also good grief Lupita Nyong'o is one of the best acresess out there right now and does a solid job here
A lot of people didnt understand what the director wanted to show, the movie is a 8/9 for me, it inmmerses you in the city perfectly. When you watch a movie, you need to put yourself in the way the director wants to to enjoy it.
Who gave a crap about her character though? She was introduced as a angry boring character that never redeemed herself. I didn't care if she lived or died
Chris Stuckman liked this movie and it shocked me. I sat in the theater because my date wanted to go see a movie for our date (always the worst date idea to me), and I was twisting in my chair to this crap. That stupid cat that has to always live and the non main characters that all have an IQ of 3. If you like watching two hours of cliches and the most predictable death scenes of all time then you’d like this. Also if you like lots and lots of bloodless, “disappear into the mist”, PG 13 style deaths then you’d also love this.
I’m gonna be blunt when I say this, so I hope you don’t write this comment off, but I don’t think it’s trite or bland, I think that you just don’t understand and can’t emphasize with a character you have nothing in common with- a black woman with cancer who has been faced with her mortality for months by the time the world ends. She’s using the circumstances of the world ending to find her own peace in her own mortality. They also make it a point to note the reason she can hardly walk at one point is because she relies on her pain killing patches or whatever the medicine does to function properly- which is why Eric has to go get it for her once they find refuge in the church. I feel like you went into this movie with expectations for an action film- but this film series isn’t about action, it’s about survival and human adaptation. I personally found this movie to be somewhat beautiful, and I think your lack of interest in it stems from you not getting an action scratch satisfied. You boil a lot of this movie down to base, simple facts of things that HAPPEN, but it’s disingenuous to not admit that you’re biased because you seem to have been disinterested from the beginning of the movie. But, to each their own
I haven't seen the movie, never seen this channel before, but I agree with you 100%. His attitude from the very start of the video displayed bias and a lack of thought or critical thinking.
I didn’t care about action. I hoped that the movie would dip into the alien lore. I want to see how humans adapt. Not a black cut out and now, they all sudden, know to be quiet. Movie was boring
@@tasman1934 i feel like with things like monsters its kinda common knowledge to be quiet or to not be seen, its the first step on every horror movie rule.. wouldn't you grasp quickly with something like that?
@@lssmbleYou would immediately understand that you can’t even talk or make the slightest noise without getting instantly killed? I don’t think most people would immediately come to that conclusion after one day.
These comments are delusional. This movie sucked. It was incredibly boring. If they had done the entire movie through the cats perspective it would have been miles better than what was released. Worst movie in the series.
Problem is that they did the monsters and the film very different. This like Doom the movie. It was a fun movie...If you pretend it has nothing to do with doom. People were falling asleep in the theater. Dude in front of me was snoring and I almost left shortly before that. Problem is I just don't like the characters. The cat was a dumb idea and the cat didn't behave like a cat. There are too many plot holes to mention. How does the military know you need to be quiet or that there were even monsters? They just showed up and did the info dump. Inconsistant rules of noise and the fact that the monsters can't swim (and drown immediately) yet they would literally hide underwater in the first film. Also, these things are insanely fast yet right at the end both characters make noise and then out run them, and she doesn't even die there. They just forget about her because of a can. I will say that I didn't mind the acting or the actual look of the film. It's just the writting was trash. She had a cat. They didn't need to make up a reason like pizza for her to keep going deeper into the city. Cat runs away. Boom. You have a compelling reason. The first movie really relied on suspense and in this one there is so much action that you never really get a chance (other than maybe once) to relax and let the suspense build. It's like if I went to watch Alien and accidentally put on Aliens. Both good movies in their genre, but it wasn't what I went to see. Which is unfortunate.
Saying Lupita Nyong'o’ performance uninspired is such a bad take. She’s in hospice care do you expect her to be high energy the entire run time? Her character motivations make a lot of sense with the given context
Why is she even in the movie? Day one to me sounds like we should get to know more about the aliens, and see the military fight against them?? Who TF cares about this BORING woman!?
My biggest gripes with the movie were that A. The character of Eric is an insufferable pussy. B. The logic and laws of what does and doesn't set the demons off make no sense. They can scream at the top of their lungs over thunder which, is never loud enough to drown out the sound of a human scream, but pretty sure it's on a different frequency. And how a shirt ripping got buddy killed but Eric gasping for air out of the water on 2 occasions didn't tip them off ? Especially when once was out in the open and the second was with one of them literally chasing them. And also that bloody cat. Idc how good of a cat you have, NO cat is going to tolerate being plummeted into water. Especially one that, I'm going to assume has never actually been exposed to something like that. Sure, the actual cats are trained for that, and I severely doubt they actually pulled cats through deep water. But this was a cancer patient's therapy cat. I severely doubt it's had more exposure than the inside of her hospice room or apartment and being carried around in a bag. I do also agree that the idea that they just all suddenly know what to do amongst the literal first appearance of these demons is ludicrous. I would have been way more about it if they never introduced Eric, and they explored the actual origins of the demons. The plot of a cancer riddled girl still wanting pizza through a literal apocalypse is shallow and contrived. The only insight we got to the demons was them eating ... pods ? That the cat was also eating .. ? I just think that whatever world building that was already established just got muddled with this movie cause it ultimately doesn't make sense
I thought they were going to show where the monsters came from or what caused them. They basically repeated concepts. Why waste so much money on something we already watched in two movies?
Seems like they ALL go for any random noise caused by people. And complete ignore noise made by walking debris’s and rusty swings. Dumb. Just carry a bunch of crap in you pocket. They’ll run in the opposite direction if you throw anything. No one does that.
I managed to watch an hour but it was so boring. I thought it would be on a grand scale this time. Also where are all the bodies? The city is literally empty 🙄
This sequel sucked. The 1 and 2 by far way better.. movie was super boring. Not much action going on and I feel the director made it seem like bc people watched the 1 and 2 and automatically the characters will know what to do with these aliens.. utter fail
The movie doesn’t establish any rules for the sound thing. 1) they already established the aliens can’t hear people if they are more quite then the ambient environment (rain, waterfall). So why the F*CK can they hear a slight mumble Ian a loud turbulent sewer?! 2) they make the city seem as quite as a sound booth. Wind is loud, birds are loud. How can a lain hear a foot step but doesn’t react to a rusty swing?! Can it magically tell a person isn’t there?! 3) why do the aliens eat again? random alien Eggs? What?! Who lays them?! Stupid. 4) aliens can hear a mumble in a loud ass sewer, fine, but can’t hear a heart beat from 6 inches away?! Explain! 5) why can’t the military fight these things again?! Explain! God this movie needs to have better writing.

So, I haven't watched the first 2 films but, coincidentally, a couple of my work colleagues who love horror films were talking about horror films that are out now and one of them mentioned really wanting to watch this one. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but keeping my fingers crossed.
I totally get that, don’t want to take in too much darkness with kids around and that can just stick after a while. Shit, they were supposed to present us a clever way in which the characters discovered it was all about being quite. And they simply throw that out the window? Literally slept in the theaters, Iwant my money back

How did you not come to the same conclusion with films one and two? lol. I understand far fetched concepts but this franchise is ridiculous. Back in the day people screamed about water killing the aliens from signs even though they were on earth in an atmosphere full of it and I thought that was pretty harsh and still enjoyed the movie but spaceshipless comet riding aliens that can only feed while hearing noises subsequently quieter then their own upon hearing is ridiculous and the continuous sub plots of everyone being fine around loud things only to then be killed making the tiniest of sounds during quiet moments!??

Ever since people realised you could review movies in The Critical Drinker fashion of just spewing nonsense to get views and likes from non critical thinkers.
Couldn’t finish the video, horrendous takes on a film and characterisation you clearly didn’t understand. It’s okay to not like a movie, it’s okay for it to not resonate with you. The film was fine. But if you’re going to be a channel that is critical of film, understanding human emotions, compassion and goals is a great place to start.
Okay the movie was kinda boring, a little slow… but I think a lot of these critiques are nitpicking and you gave a really lazy interpretation of the plot and characters. This film is a character study that is placed within the setting of the tired “quiet place” universe that is stretching its cultural relevance. You didn’t even try and view her actions through the lens of a hospice patient, which pretty much makes your comments about her attitude and choices in the movie lack any depth. The movie wasn’t great, but it’s certainly not as bad as you try and make it out to be
This movie was such a refreshing take on horror films, shows what it is really meant to live. As well as shows what people who both have crippling anxiety and are at end of life care really value. Having been a nurse for 6 years, this movie gave audiences a glimpse into the mind of people who can answer what really matters in life.
The cat was used as a crutch for most of the movie, everyone loves animals, but we're supposed to care about the humans too, so if you were more worried about the animal then you're obv a bit effed in the head. The movie punishes you for this, by the end the cat seemingly out of nowhere means nothing and She dumps it on the wimpy white dude.I liked the cat mostly cause it was cute, and she sucks ass for leaving him behind, but all in all the movie is a dull affair, and no-one important dies this time. Just a weird, pointless installment imo.
I just watched it yesterday, it's pretty boring. The movie should've been centred around the process of the military's downfall, and how the Death Angels overthrew humanity, making the world quiet. I agree with the video that the plot should've been about how the survivors managed to reach the deserted island surrounded by water, safe from the monsters. The pizza quest can stay but it would need to be a side plot, not the main plot.
So I haven't seen the movie, nor have I ever seen your channel before, but I get the sense that you didn't understand it at all and are possibly not very smart.

It just doesn't feel the same as the original casts especially the sign language. It feels as it doesn't really add up.
Not from the 2nd Pacific Rim had I felt such a letdown.
"Let's talk about our feelings..."
I was done when her cat brushed the bell. Her first thought was save the cat? What about dude.
DUDE from free guy 😂
Agree it's terrible. Besides the fact that they needed to DEI it there is no logic, no heart, no decent writing in any of this movie. Why should the audience care about the main character when she doesn't care about her own life? Why go get pizza it's just a dumb plot point that didn't need to be there. How bout you have a necessity that keeps them from leaving instead of just getting pizza? Then she stays at the end for no reason? This movie is just horrible.
Yes about the DEI. I'm beyond sick of it.
This movie was shit
Black woman wants pizza (2024, horror)
Why does her race matter?
What drugs were you on when you watched this movie and or wrote this review?
@@poundmytomtomThey’re allowed to like it. I completely disagree with the movie being great, but it’s whatever. All I know is that the movie bored me to tears.
Hated this film; loved your review. Thank you!
Sam and Frodo in Fellowship of Pizza.
More like
"The fellowship of the crazy cat ladies"
😆
It's a boring stupid film. Bland.
I side with the monsters, stfu.
@@Dudewheresmycarnivore lol he should've just said that then instead of saying "ummmm why didn't the terminally ill cancer patient want to live in the post apocalyptic world 😹😹😹"
But it looks like her cancer gave her superpowers….🙃
Like i am legend we didnt need a prequal
Oh boy. As someone who really likes the original film, I think I'll give this a pass.😅
The original was awesome- this, save your money😂
No you shouldn't. It's not as bad as he tries to make it seem
Seriously I agree with you!
This movie was refreshing
Good Movie.Only Bad Character Was The Guy Following Her With Loud Dress Shoes on & Crying All The Time.😢😢
At this point, I feel we should have just kept it at the first movie - this one felt like a cash grab; as most post-covid movies are feeling these days 😪.
The level to which you did not understand this story at all is wild. It was a great movie with beautiful poetic layers behind a satisfying and simple plot
Also good grief Lupita Nyong'o is one of the best acresess out there right now and does a solid job here
A lot of people didnt understand what the director wanted to show, the movie is a 8/9 for me, it inmmerses you in the city perfectly.
When you watch a movie, you need to put yourself in the way the director wants to to enjoy it.
Who gave a crap about her character though? She was introduced as a angry boring character that never redeemed herself. I didn't care if she lived or died
@@jonfe The director needs to direct in a way the sci-fi horror fans would want it to be, not the other way around.
@@kaiserbrutus730 dont forget is art
The movie is crap so is your taste!
I’m gonna be blunt when I say this, so I hope you don’t write this comment off, but
I don’t think it’s trite or bland, I think that you just don’t understand and can’t emphasize with a character you have nothing in common with- a black woman with cancer who has been faced with her mortality for months by the time the world ends.
His attitude from the very start of the video displayed bias and a lack of thought or critical thinking.
its supposed to be a scary movie not some corny emotional bs
Shockingly bad? How quickly we forget Madame Web 😂😂😂😂
What a waste of money shouldnt watch it worst movie but as worse as morbius
Who TF cares about this BORING woman!?

you open the door, when every one inside, broo she is fucking evil for that, for pizza, she kill every sigle soul in the theather
People really thought this was a horror film 💀 me and my girl laughed through out the movie 😅 the first two movies were more intense and exciting
Seems like they ALL go for any random noise caused by people. And complete ignore noise made by walking debris’s and rusty swings. Dumb.
Just carry a bunch of crap in you pocket. They’ll run in the opposite direction if you throw anything.
No one does that.

I used to watch horror films often, but after having children I couldn't; don't know why. So, I haven't watched the first 2 films but, coincidentally, a couple of my work colleagues who love horror films were talking about horror films that are out now and one of them mentioned really wanting to watch this one. Nothing to do with this film - will you be reviewing Kevin Costner's 'Horizon'? Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but keeping my fingers crossed.
I totally get that, don’t want to take in too much darkness with kids around and that can just stick after a while.

Couldn’t finish the video, horrendous takes on a film and characterisation you clearly didn’t understand. It’s okay to not like a movie, it’s okay for it to not resonate with you. The film was fine. But if you’re going to be a channel that is critical of film, understanding human emotions, compassion and goals is a great place to start.

Did you watch the movie? I question if you did. At the end we see that Henri is on the barge that brings him to the island.
When did that happen??? I never saw that scene...was it after the credits?
Okay the movie was kinda boring, a little slow… but I think a lot of these critiques are nitpicking and you gave a really lazy interpretation of the plot and characters. This film is a character study that is placed within the setting of the tired “quiet place” universe that is stretching its cultural relevance. You didn’t even try and view her actions through the lens of a hospice patient, which pretty much makes your comments about her attitude and choices in the movie lack any depth.
The movie wasn’t great, but it’s certainly not as bad as you try and make it out to be

LMAO at saying the first two movies were good. All 3 are awful. Worst movie series ever made. Not a single redeeming quality about them.
This movie was such a refreshing take on horror films, shows what it is really meant to live. As well as shows what people who both have crippling anxiety and are at end of life care really value. Having been a nurse for 6 years, this movie gave audiences a glimpse into the mind of people who can answer what really matters in life.
This is an objectively good film, horrible take.

This dude is full of bad takes, you're learning the wrong things from them.
You're just wrong
The cat was used as a crutch for most of the movie, everyone loves animals, but we're supposed to care about the humans too, so if you were more worried about the animal then you're obv a bit effed in the head. The movie punishes you for this, by the end the cat seemingly out of nowhere means nothing and She dumps it on the wimpy white dude.I liked the cat mostly cause it was cute, and she sucks ass for leaving him behind, but all in all the movie is a dull affair, and no-one important dies this time. Just a weird, pointless installment imo.
Terrible take. Did you even watch this movie?
I just watched it yesterday, it's pretty boring. The movie should've been centred around the process of the military's downfall, and how the Death Angels overthrew humanity, making the world quiet. I agree with the video that the plot should've been about how the survivors managed to reach the deserted island surrounded by water, safe from the monsters. The pizza quest can stay but it would need to be a side plot, not the main plot.
