I really enjoy watching Jen connecting with her patients. She's so loving, compassionate, and such a good nurse. She's a real go-getter, all the while having the best bedside manner of most nurses. She's inspiring and a lovely mentor ❤
❤Jen!!! BTW, here in the US, ER (ED) waits can be 6, 7, 8 hours. And ambulances charges $1K just to come to your house. Even if family transport to ER, if insurance decides it wasn't an emergency, including excruciating pain in a young man (happened to our son), for example, they will deny most or all of charges billed. Can be $5K or more for even a brief ER visit. 😮
I like in Kingman AZ and an ambulance ride costs $3500-$6000 depending on which company picks you up. And the wait times at KRMC can be 2-20 hours before being triaged. It's awful here. They even lost their cardiac care unit due to too many patients dying from infections. Most of the docs are med students that had very poor grades and docs that have gotten into trouble at other hospitals.
In Australia, the fact that Jim injured his shoulder at work would mean no loss of income as the government would maintain his income and cover all costs during recovery. Many of the problems with the NHS and resourcing issues comes down to the fact that the UK has a limited revenue base to pay for it all. Here in Australia the waiting time is about 4 hours but we have enormous income from resources exports so we are less dependent on income tax. Hence we run budget and trade surpluses. Health and social services are the biggest line items in our respective budgets, but the UK has a diminishing revenue stream to pay for it all. How a new government that is more sensitive to these issues and addresses them, will determine the actual standard of living our cousins will enjoy in the future.
@@terryperry4160 In building Medicare in Australia, we took the UK NHS model, but also added an optional insurance funded sub system that was optional for things like cosmetic surgery. But as we tuned it to be affordable for the country, the UK never did this. My daughter moved to the UK in 2023 and she has been to A&E twice. She had a broken leg and they missed it. Pretty basic. She shocked them by arriving the second time with her own orthopedic surgeon who happens to be her landlord. And then you have the situation where HEMS helis can't fly at night. In Australia they are 24/7 and night times are the busiest. The excuse that its too busy at night is rubbish. Its just as busy at night in Sydney as London. No. Its a budget factor. Yours have one shift a day, ours do 3. Your helis can only carry 1 patient, our Augustas can manage two.
I love this show so much! I am on a journey of self-discovery and a few degerative nerve diseases. I wish our wait time was 4 hours. Our wait period is anywhere between an hour and 21 hours. Once I had an infected abscess in my throat. I could not even talk. I waited 21 freaking hours. 😮 😢 😊❤

Lots of time waiting, especially because they know almost nothing about my diseases. Don't be taken in my by their 4 hr deadline. It's just a guideline.
