Beautiful playing and perfect tone and today still probably the best Pibroch player.

Piobaireachd is not about taste: it either played right or not.

I don’t agree! Within each tune there are often a number of different ways it may be played. Take just two In Praise of Morag and The Little Spree. There are a number of options for the player. Which they go for is a matter of taste. Ronnie Lawrie summed it up as ‘a path you can go down, either on the right side or the left but you shouldn’t meander from side to side or off onto the verge completely’!

Why don't you put up a video and show us all how its done then...! If you'r saying the Greatest Piper in the "WORLD" is playing it wrong.

He’s not saying it’s wrong. It’s just that it’s not too his taste. It’s all about taste and preference. There’s no right and wrong in music.

See the recent comment by Willie McCallum, who confirms that it is a salute tempo. Maybe you are thinking of a lament tempo? Donald MacLeod on practice chanter played it at around 55 bpm, while Roddy is playing it around 61 bpm, with both varying a bit, so it might just be a question of the *taste of the times.*

Piobaireachd has nothing to do with 'taste'.
