Thanks great idea. Guess I have work to do. Please continue to getting to the point. Brevity is gold. Too many wanna tell you their life story before forgetting what they were going to talk about.

There’s a very simple way to find the photo you referenced as an example of why not to use folders - so what if you can’t remember what date or folder you put it in - simply keyword your images - I do and I use a ‘folder’ structure also - have never ever not been able to find an image!!!

Yeah, that certainly works as well! Most photographers are looking for the easiest, and least involved solution, so most would rather not keyword all of their images. If you’re willing to go through the trouble to keyword all your photos, then that would work great!

Would add to add them to a collection before import. It's even possible to create new collections from the import window.

Yeah, you can do that too! I usually don’t but that is definitely a good way to do it.

Don't use folders? You have to have some type of organization in the background. if you need to depend on your catalog you have to have some way to recover from Lightroom problems.

No, I don’t use folders at all. The way the photos are imported is by date, so even without my Lightroom catalog, they are still organized by date if I leave Lightroom.

Exactly, if you're missing a bunch of photos, having a proper folder organization is crucial.
