(PS yep, it's 400 gsm plus the gloss layer. For our future decks, we're going with 350 gsm and less lamination , plus our new deck boxes have a magnetic flap to stop the boxes coming apart.)

I adore pairing this deck with the Believe in your oen magic oracle cards. They pair so wonderfully! I think my only issue with this deck is the name. I tend to not really be that into witchy stuff, so I avoided getting this deck for far too long because of the name. I'm really enjoying working with it. 😊
I was reading Benebell's review of this deck, and she mentions that the Five of Wands is a nod to female samurai.

Oh SNAP! I didn't get Modern Witch because I thought it was too much like This Might Hurt and I chose it instead. A friend gifted me Modern Witch for my birthday and DANG! I really loved it. Like used it all of September and didn't want to stop. The fanning action is just lush. The backs. Oh I could go on.

I definitely feel that it has feminine power to it. It is for that reason I was drawn to it becuase I am working on bringing out my feminine energy , breaking my guard down. Great review!
(Also, the gender of the Lovers card isn't particularly explicit. We have an impression of their nude backs, but their actual gender is not shared with us. And I don't just mean that we don't see their genitals. We just literally do not know, which I love about this card.)
I find our different views to the five of wands interesting.
For me it's a gang (or two) of "Sukeban" (Japanese Female Delinquents) ready to fight each other.
I got this deck last October when it launched at the UK Tarot Conference. I really enjoy it and find it's very empowering.
Liminal 11 have redesigned there boxes so now they have a wee hinged magnetic part at the bottom to stop the inner box sliding out. 💜

Right?! They are so different -and I love them both so much -and honestly, the lack of boys doesn’t bother me at all, I thought it would, but I don’t even notice it. The only card that bugs me a bit is the king of Pentacles. Ironically, it’s not the gender, it’s the fact that they’re just too young for me! The box does annoy me, but I can totally live with it. But no, that cardstock... I don’t like the gloss, but whatevs, it’s the thickness that kills it. I need a good riffle and bridge -and no, it didn’t break in for me 😢 I hate, hate, hate the cardstock! But... it is still one of my absolute favorite decks though. So glad you got it! Hugs 🎃👻
I pinned a comment by Liminal11 - they're updating cardstock on their upcoming decks to something a bit less thick and less glossy!! This deck will hold up well, at least, but I hear you on the riffle struggle!

I’m so glad to see you’ve got the Modern Witch in your collection now, I hope it gives you the feels I get off it. It’s become my hug deck because it’s each an every person in the cards give me a little message and a nudge of encouragement ☺️. I went with Modern Witch over This Might Hurt because it was more affordable at the time. Even though the thick card stock and box bug me quite a bit I was really surprised how attached I’ve got to this deck. Haha sorry for the ramble, these witches have become very beloved to me, like friends who have your back you know! 🥰
I'm really excited to work with it! I tend to put my new stuff on hold during October when I work with my darker decks! :D But then... but then... me and this deck are gonna have some quality time together!!

I have this deck and truly love it. (I also have This Might Hurt and love it, too.) It is one of my go-to decks, and I never noticed the lemons until you pointed that out. It occurs to me to wonder if that is a reference to Beyoncé, given that Lemonade came out in 2016 and the Empress here has a similar energy to some of her costumes in the past few years.

Oh no. I’ve passed this deck up many time’s over other decks. I’m not a huge fan of the coloration of this deck. Although I do love the hardcover guidebook. But...you’re commentary on each of the cards was very enlightening! I’m going to keep an eye out for your videos for when you read with it for a week. I’m now very curious to see how it will read for you. Btw. I think you’d make an excellent teacher of tarot.

I got similar vibes from the Modern Witch and This Might Hurt, too. I debated and watched walkthroughs, and ultimately went with the Modern Witch. I love it. It’s always a go-to for readings. That box, though, I ditched it and put the deck in a tarot bag. P.S. I just got the Peggy Bags I ordered: they are so lovely! You two are among my favorite UA-cam people!!❤️
Awwww so glad you love your bags!!! Yep, me too. I went with a divided bag for my Modern Witch so I have a separate spot to slide the guidebook in because... fancy! Hehehe
Because I have a big collection, and gloss finish is a dealbreaker for me because I HATE faffing about with lighting to not get a reflection in photographing it (ceiling fan light reflections are no bueno) but MW is still so, so beautiful. Plus I have a thing where those “older male authoritarian” looking cards knee jerk made me dislike them, so seeing them as non-binary or “masculine energy female” is really, really appealing. Can’t get over that gloss though. But I still really love and appreciate it!
I love the age/body diversity in TMH, though. The fact that you can for example see leg hair on the moon figures and such are *chefs kiss*

Agree with ALL of this. I really like male archetypes in Tarot but it VERY MUCH depends on how they're depicted. Sometimes I have a similar reaction. And agree the age/body diversity in TMH is so good but they don't feel NEARLY as similar as I thought they would so I can definitely see a place for BOTH decks in people's collections, which was not the case when I initially anti-hauled MW!
i got the deck saturday i really like it i read the intro and it’s for lgbtq+ that’s probably the reason the cards called out to me more than the rider tarot deck
This deck totally took me by surprise and won me over. I love the color story. I love the fact that it’s a RWS clone. I love the diversity. I only wish we had more age diversity. It especially throws me when the kings and queens are depicted younger. The card stock is...interesting, but I don’t hate it 🤣

Perhaps if you put it upside down in the bag it wouldn't slide out? Just a thought I had.

I am new to your channel but have binge watched so many videos! This is the first tarot deck I ever got. I purchased it in Jan 22. Sadly I got the same box and the thicker card stock that I cannot riffle due to my tiny hands. I am thinking about trimming the white borders off and edging with the same blue that is on the backs of the cards. Love your channel! Done fangirling now. 👋
HiiiiiI! :) Thanks for commenting! :) This deck is so good - and even thoguh the carstock is thick, I'm glad i never modified it (if that matters to you) I don't think it would make them much easier to shuffle unless the issue with the shuffle is the size for you and not the stiffness. I also feel like the thick/glossy stock has wierdly grown on me over time, it feels kinda indestructible in a way, which is nice :)
So curious as to which you prefer, TMH or Modern Witch! I adore both but find myself completely unable to choose if I had to! loved this walkthrough, I've always wanted to hear your impressions of it
Aw man, it's not a fair fight at this point because I'm already so bonded with TMH, and haven't spent quality time with the Modern Witch Tarot yet!! I think a LOT will depend on which art style draws your eye more. TMH is a bit more cartoonish and Modern Witch is more 'classic' feeling (closer to RWS art style) in my opinion.

I haven't got either one of these, partly because of the same thing (everyone) about - This Might Hurt? or Modern Witch?...I'm here for this one especially when they change the cardstock and box...waiting patiently...sortof. Now, to play with the Muses of Tarot...because HELLO. This deck is so cool!

This is my study deck.... it is so scuffed up that I will trim it eventually. I really can't Riff it... but it is so easy to read.

I almost didn’t get this deck because of your anti-haul video, but I did get it and I love it! But I do dislike the boxes as well. It is a very thick deck and a bit slippery. I have heard Liminal 11 added a magnetic flap at the bottom to keep them shut, I’m not sure which decks will have the new boxes though!

This one appealed to me more than This Might Hurt. I love the colors. Not so crazy about the cardstock though...

I really really wanted to love this deck but it just didn’t vibe with my energy. Which is really weird because I love the concept so much. I also accidentally got the little version which was disappointing but it does riffle well. I might need to give it another shot, but for now it’s just not reading well for me. :(

hey im new to tarot and i bought this deck thinking mine would come with the guide book but it didn’t i was wondering if you still do tarot if you can do meanings for it for upright and reversed. ❤️
Aw man what a bummer. Sounds like you bought a counterfeit deck. :( If you buy a legitimate copy, it does come with the guidebook.
I just bought these cards as my first deck and I’m just wondering, how you you know the meaning of the cards when they are reversed??? There is nothing about them being reverse in the guide it comes with! 💜
Same here! I too wonder why there is no reverse guideline. And I don’t know if it’s because the cards are supposed to be dealt upright and can’t be used in reverse or are we supposed to interpret what they mean in reverse...
