  • In this video I’m learning to do some basic tricks on a scary spine ramp. These include the axle stall, rock to Fakie, tail stall and axle stall transfer. Trying overcome the mental barrier of doing tricks I know in a different, more challenging setting.

    Jon!! Way to GO Brother! You had me gasping when you had to bail and audibly cheering you on when you landed the stall, stall to front side onto the other side, the rock to fakie and the tail stall. Love the analysis as you progress on the tricks! Keep up the good work and thanks for another awesome video!

  • @CarlBeatty
    @CarlBeatty 4 роки тому +3

    Another good techniques is to go straight up to it and just push a tail stall right into the spine. It seems harder than it is. It would be like doing a blunt but you keep going forward.

    • @JonBishopSkate
      @JonBishopSkate  4 роки тому +2

      Great!! I was thinking of trying that, but I’d like to get my blunts just a little better first, 3 in ten I miss the lock and scoot across the deck scraping the tail, it’s fine on a deck, but I can only imagine it would be pretty unpleasant on the spine lol !!

  • @bonelessankles
    @bonelessankles 4 роки тому +1

    Sincerely admire your courage Jon! Some of those attempts looked really risky. I guess I need to start doing spines as well - will start on a very very very small one first. The one you tackled looks frightening. My 10-year old does a 6 foot spine as if it is nothing...

    • @JonBishopSkate
      @JonBishopSkate  4 роки тому

      Wicked dude! many thanks for checking in. yeah they are a fascinating obstacle, the more you look at them the more ridiculous it seems to tackle them, but it’s fun when it comes off!!

  • @dominationproductions4965
    @dominationproductions4965 4 роки тому +1

    Another one that would definitely mess with my mind is go to a nosestall then transfer over via a noseblunt - have only ever got that on a small spine with single coping

  • @mattstanbridge
    @mattstanbridge 4 роки тому +2

    Good memory. How on earth do you remember what you went through on any particular attempt? You're obviously describing the attempts on a different day or session, it's just a big blur for me after the session is finished, even if I filmed it.

    Jon any chance you can do a video on not feeling like a dick when your skating @ 45 in a park full of early twenties and younger? My local was packed tonight and I found it very difficult to not feel a little out of my comfort zone and out of place.🤣🙈

    • @JonBishopSkate
      @JonBishopSkate  3 роки тому

      Hey dude, yeah that’s a tricky one. I wouldn’t know where to start with making a video on that lol. If it helps I feel that my experience has been one of inclusion. Today I skated with my four year old son, and pretty much every age group in between topped off by an OG over 50s skater. My experience is skaters will give you respect for riding and pushing your limits wherever level those limits may be?? I hope that helps ??

    • @Brusselsproutsk8
      @Brusselsproutsk8 3 роки тому

      Longer story Jon than the bit above but basically my two boys, one skater one scooter rider started scapping over the scooter in front of the whole park. It got a bit embarrassing to say the least especially when I lost my cool and swore at them both🤯 probably the first time ever I have swore at the directly😪. Just made me feel i maybe too old to get starting skating again🤣

    • @JonBishopSkate

    • @dominationproductions4965
      @dominationproductions4965 4 роки тому +1

      Jon Bishop yeh that is a good suggestion you just need enough speed so you can lock you tail into the blunt and put your weight forward to transfer over it is pretty much dropping in then - never done it on double coping so that may be the only complication

    • @JonBishopSkate
      @JonBishopSkate  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah it’s a great idea! Just nibble up to it, the worst would be going too far up I recon ? I sometimes slide out onto the deck on my blunts, which is not too much of an issue with a deck, but it could be pretty uncomfortable to do that on the spine?? I need more practice to get confident that I could nail it !!

    • @Skate_48
      @Skate_48 3 роки тому

      Start by coming up to blunt on a part with the platform at the top.
      Once you have that take it to the spine.
      You'll learn it in an hour it's easy.
      My boys are nine and learnt it in a half hour.
