That video was exactly what any professional chef needed. no side talk, no unnecessary explaining. no boring elongated step-by-steps... quick and to the point. loved it.
yes, no B.S.. No this is how to peel a spud B.O.Lx
4 x small sirloin steaks, approx 7 oz.
3 shallots, peeled
4 ounces crimini mushrooms, cleaned (if crimini unavailable use button mushrooms instead)
1 tablespoon salted butter
1 garlic clove, peeled
1 -2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, to taste
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/3 cup brandy or cognac
1 cup heavy cream
Small handful of flat-leaf parsley
Preparation
Using a rolling pin, roll out the steaks to flatten and cut off any excess fat. Season the steaks on both sides with salt and pepper. Heat a little olive oil in a skillet pan large enough to accommodate the 4 steaks in one layer. Quickly sauté the steaks for up to a minute on each side then remove from the pan and set aside to rest.
To make the sauce for the steaks, heat some olive oil in a separate pan. Slice the shallots and add to the pan, allow to soften briefly before slicing and adding the mushrooms with a tablespoon of butter. Crush in the garlic using a garlic press.
Add the Worcestershire sauce, then the mustard and heat through for a minute. Turn up the heat and tilt the pan away from you. Pour the brandy into the far end and allow it to ignite - be careful that the flame that flares up doesn't singe your eyebrows! Once the alcohol has burnt off, swirl the juices around the pan. Add the cream and allow the sauce to thicken before turning down the heat. ntroduce the steaks back into the pan and cook a little further depending on how well done you would like them. Chop the parsley and add half to the pan.
T o serve, divide some sautéed potatoes between plates with a spoonful of peas. Arrange the steaks alongside, spoon the sauce on top and sprinkle with the remaining parsley.
Jeff Hudson You're the MVP Jeff !
Spot on, but he makes the steak sauce in the same pan as he cooked the steaks in?
Callum Wilson yes he does!
+Callum Wilson making the sauce in the steak juices/drippings helps retain more flavor and add density to the sauce. as well as being economical with the number of pans used.
+Jeff Hudson You forgot to add DONE
They should rename this series "Cooking with Telescopes"
Holy moly. I remember when literally everyone had your Avatar. Because of the highest grossing academy award winning masterpiece.
More like microscope
Or " Cooking With Cocaine".
Lol
could you zoom in a bit more next time? can't see the molecules very clearly
+Yukigami Hahaha Bruh!
+dredelwyn I was getting naseous
سلام
+Yukigami you made ma day, dude :)
lololololol
A real classic. Anyone done it faster?
stfu gordAnne
Not even going to try but I will try this recipe to feed the family. Thank you for sharing your immense knowledge Gordon! Btw, came out fantastic!!! A definite add to our meal time menu.
@@404killer This comment went 6 years without a troll. Wow...
I'm done in bed quicker than this. Up your game
not faster no; but i did manage to zoom in more, i could see the actual atoms.
I'm afraid I can't see the food at all. I think the cameraman should zoom in just a bit more. Thanks!
Also they need to speed things up and maybe add some catchy jump-cuts, I’m still getting actual glimpses of what I’m supposed to be seeing. That won’t do.
Ils a clip notre a film... shame
Lmaooooo
@Bart Lee focus!
@Bart Lee I thought you were borrowin a line from Revenge of the Nerds!
Video was way too long, should consider cutting the length down by about a minute in future.
lmho.... I was thinking how many times I have to view this video to actually get the whole recipe.
+sharaxxvable he already has a video how to make a perfect sirloin steak so he cuted that out to make the video shorter since he already gave us instructions on how to cook a proper steak
Frederik Filo Ha ha ha If I was in Gordon's class it would be something like this:
- Gordon "Well, class is dismiss"
- Me "I just grab my pen, I grab my pen!!!"
+Crosby4hyg LOL! I wish he would list more detailed instructions or at least the full ingredients list in the description.
+sharaxxvable LOL!! Damn that was funny and true. Lolll...
Ok step 1 add olive oil to the pan. Alright next we...whoa...wait...slow down! What was that thing about flattening something?! Potatoes?! Where's your steak?? Fuck this I'm going to McDonald's.
hahahaha i lol'd
(Y)
It's really not that hard to understand, I just play the video and pause as I go along, it's like a virtual recipe.
done!
I kept thinking he was saying soda potatoes.,,,, Sauteed potatoes ....oooooh
Was the executive producer of this video Cocaine? I enjoy the videos but damn what is the rush?
chefdan87 The rush is these shirt vignettes were on his show The F Word. They were basically filler during the show. They would add these clips in between other portions of the show. So instead of worthless fluff between segments, you'd have an entire recipe.
chefdan87 Gordon is always fast
I got a gold chain
I just made this for my wife for Valentine's Day. She LOVED it! It was so flavorful, rich and creamy! Definitely a hit! Thank you for the instructions, Mr. Ramsay!
To make this work:
1: Set speed to 1/4
2: Do potatoes first for they take 2-3 years to cook properly
+Mustafa Kambarzahi And boil them until a few minutes from done and let drain. Do not put raw potatoes in the pan together with the garlic, the garlic will transform into charcoal when your potatoes are 1/5 done.
+Mustafa Kambarzahi he says par-boiled, so they wont take that long
Your potatoes cooked yet? Lol nah but does he microwave them beforehand?
Ugh mine are still cooking to this day
@@Ena48145 You should be halfway now
14 years later and we're still enjoying this, thanks Gordon for the quick and easy recipes and the closeups are helpful.
omfg the camera is so close to the food i feel like i need to sit back
just sit back and relax
+Katie Mitchell you need to sit on my face lady.
+MrOmnos LOL
+MrOmnos how about i break that face?
***** How about you fuck off!!
Gordon Ramsay : "Fry quickly on both sides, then set aside."
Cameraman: *SHAKE* *SHAKE* *SHAKE*
Like I say, it's fast and easy, I credit chef ramsay. I don't use brandy I use chicken or veggie stock, it works just as well, it's not expensive it's a regular dish for everyone, follow the steps accordingly on how well you want your food, time is not the factor, if you want a nice crunch to the veggies in the sauce cook less, if soft and creamy, cook more it's all your choice, that's the beauty of Gordon's recipes, you are the creator, you are the boss.
omfg how does he do it so fast
it takes me 20 minutes to even try to cut off the fat of the steak
+William Hu LOL
+William Hu hahaha, i can relate :D
hahaha
+The Reasonable Christian American
He doesn't only run 100 metres..
For one who want recipe more specifically
For a main course, remember. Add olive oil to a hot pan. Remove the fat from the steak. Roll out thin and season. Fried quickly both sides then set aside. Into the same pan, add chopped shallots and season. Add s slice of mushroom and a knob of butter and garlic. Then add a spice of Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Pour a dash of Brandy and flambe. Once the alcohol is burned off. Swirl the juices, add the cream and stir with chopped parsley. Return the steak and cooked. For sautéed potatoes, need oil, slice the potato in half and place upside down. Season, add crush garlic and rosemary. Platter and put the sauces over the steak. Steak Diane with sautéed potatoes and peas. Done !!
I LOVE these videos. I wish there was more. It's quick, explains it in a simple way, doesn't dick around with cheesy introductions, gets to the point. For people who want to learn to cook something ASAP and not have to listen to the cook's life story and get told to subscribe to the channel. I would take a one minute video of Gordon Ramsay over a 10 minute fluff-about-and-tell-you-how-my-mum-used-to-make-it amatuer video any day
+James Morgan and by your girl do you mean your carer?
This video is for people who know how to cook. There are slow videos out there for people who need them.
Oh, absolutely. Some of these truly insipid comments by those who could probably botch making toast made me lol. 😎
Watching this while i'm hungry.
I don't know why I subject myself to this type of torture.
Don't we all
Usain Bolt wouldn't be able to keep up with this video, damn.
Looks JUST SIMPLY amazing
Do you guys also get kinda seasick from watching this ? like the camera is moving so quick.
Motion sick* sea sick would imply that you are at sea. Unless you watched this on your boat...then my bad LOL
BlitzAceX if he had the money for a boat, wouldnt he have the money for a private chef or even money to buy expensive food rending this video futile :P
chibai1223 It's called an editor that thought it would be funny to condense the video into such a small package. Sadly, you barely can see what is going on but they still get a video from millions of people lol
They hired the same cameraman that filmed Cloverfield.
Best instructional video ever for anyone who knows their way around a kitchen. Thank you
I made this for my parents for new years eve and we absolutely loved it! First time I ever flambed! So simple!
I love these high speed videos , Gordon gets to the point without all the blah blah fluff
Thank you Gordon .
TheReaper!
This to me is how recipe videos should be. I don´t need to watch 10 minutes of someone chopping and doing prep before cooking. 1 minute, all the information you need, done!.
I will be trying this one out for dinner tomorrow.
+James M my point. Godons' Videos are for those who can actually cook. People come here and bitch that he doesn't get in details... Either way, I'd recommend you try flat Iron cut with the dish, it works perfectly (Y)
Agreed. His recipes are SIMPLE, fresh, delicious. The video shows everything you need to make steak diane in 1 minute, awesome!! If u cant prep a few ingredients and need a dictionary to look up sauté then the more appropriate show for u is Worst Cooks in America.
they should hire the camera man for csi agents.
So let s start this 1 He has 16 michelin stars.2 Hi s cooking is not for beginners.3 If you are not used to cooking a lot than use jamie oliver s videos.4 Stop complainig he is a professional it s really hard to cook the way he does and to obtain his quality.5 Lack of explaining measurements read point 2.And finally for me and and others this video is amazing,it has explained me everything,no bullshit.i dont need to see how he cuts onions and tells me bedtime stories just pure cooking.
exactly why i love these videos
this is a beginner dish lol steak Diane is one of the most basic classic steak recipes you'll find.
exactly.
Agreed, I love how no time is wasted on this one.
Done
These short format is absolutly great!
I tried to cook this in the same 1:02 as on the vid but my stove did not even heat up by then
Thank you so much for not stretching this out for 12 minutes.
The video is so fast I feel like my migraine is coming by just watching it
If you smash it on a road in Paris, it turns into Steak Diana.
Now that's how a UA-cam recipe should be. Concise and awesome.
Really hate long-winded recipes that go on for 10 minutes just to show you how to make something simple like a stew or a roast chicken.
The reason why this video seems so straightforward is because it's a clip from one of Gordon Ramsay's cooking shows
This is art. Hands down one of the tastiest dishes i've ever tried. Still trying to get it spot on.
Tip. Start cooking the potatoes first. ;)
I love these one minute videos! Brilliant idea Gordon, get people cooking instinctively!
damn, he prepared this recipe in just 56 seconds!
When you know what your doing in the kitchen you really appreciate fast recipe tutorials like this
That was one exhausting minute
It is fully insane that anyone would ever plan, shoot, edit or present this as a useful video for anyone wanting to cook this recipe. 100% style.
he should zoom in more
i love this chef my fav
Oh man i am running to stake house right now !!!😀😉
LOL your life is at stake
Just love these 1min episodes
Thats gordon ramsey no fucking around and DONE
Dont think so Chef, love your passion and love for the food you cook. Watching you is always so invigorating.
So fucking fast.
I'm a huge fan of yours Sir. Always simple, bold yet balanced flavors. Amazing.
Watch these videos only if you have a decent cooking skills, for the rest of you, Mc is most likely the best choice.
Made this tonight. Had to substitute a few ingredients and it came out looking a little different. Delicious; definitely making it again. Thank you, chef!
I felt dizzy after watching this XD so much shaking
Don't watch it when your jerking off then
It suppose to be a fast recipe sauce , made to look fun ! But I know what you mean 😀
In restaurants, they tend to use the filet mignon but you can really used any cut. It is a traditionally a pounded thin steak, so any cheap cut of meat will like clod steak.
Gordon tell your camera man to zoom out.
Thankyou Gordon. You’ve made our home lives better by sharing your knowledge.
One of these days I'm gonna have a seizure watching gordon ramsay cook
It actually tastes like a proper steak Diane. One of the few times I've cooked something that turned out right.
Gordon Ramsay > Jamie Oliver
Jesus Christ..That looks divine....I love Chef Ramsay's cooking.....
Make your videos longer and go a bit slower please. Thanks Chef !
Oh My God... I just test it with my roommates and it was SO GOOD !
The sauce was just divine.
And for those who don't have brandy, cause I didn't test others alcohol, it must be brandy. ( I have a french one ) Without it, I am sure, it would be totally different and less tasty.
In 1 minute, Gordon does his Steak Diane.
In 1 minute, ... I finish to cut my shallots.
Close enough.
i can almost see the atoms
This is the best Steak Diane recipe I have ever seen
WHY THE FUCK IS IT SO FAST AND ZOOMED IN?!
Nor Norranun
Lulz. "Flash Gordon."
Rachel C ...marry me
Just cooked this the other night. One word: AMAZING!!! New favorite way to eat steak!
Camerman swapped his camera for a bloody telescope.jesus
1. Boil water
2. Insert dry noodle square
3. Remove when tender, drain
4. Add flavor packet
Ramen noodles, DONE.
Gorden, I love you and your food madly, but get a new editor. The shots are cut too quick - and they're mostly out of focus. They are the cinematic equivilant of undercooked , sloppily prepared, dishes - something I know you'd never stand for.
Damn you gordon for making me go from being fine to starving in a minute!
Will this work with Human flesh ?
If it's fresh
Yes...
...Yes it does.
Freak, better be joking.
***** Why ?
Don't knock it till you've tried it.
***** You know that he's joking right? Damn people are stupid these days.
Gordon keeps it simple. Great thought into the planning and execution is swift. Fun to cook and deal done in a minute it took.
WHAT IS HAPPENING I CANT SEE
Imagine you come home and walk in your kitchen and see Gordon Ramsay sharpening his knife like the opening of this video.
too fast
you;re french, you should be able to keep up with this.
Man, now I never have to wonder what to cook again when I move out, that looks amazing!
"remove the fat from the steak". No.
I love how you're commenting on your own food. I'll just sit here and drool, thanks, Chef.
I don't drink alcohol, do you guys know any other options ? *help*
When you cook the alcohol it burns out already, you just get the flavor of the rum then, the alcohol is all gone ;)
Patrick Felix It doesn't all burn away. The vast majority does; there's no way you're gonna get drunk on it, but if you have serious medical sensitivity to alcohol you still should avoid foods cooked with alcohol.
Sonia you don't have to use brandy, the dish tastes just as wonderful without it, I don't drink either and I've made this dish many times for friends and family who could hardly tell the difference
***** thank you so much! :)
IN THIS CASE, WE`LL BE EATING THE ALCOHOL.
Amazing recipe I tries it out at the restaurant I work at and got Dave reviews and when I told them were I got the recipe they were all shocked.
Thanks again chef for the amazing recipe.
I'm glad Dave liked it
What the hell did he say at 0:32??? Pour in a dash of Bambi?
Gene Kim lol Brandy.
Oh ok. Thanks..
+Gene Kim brandy you mug how else would you make Dianne sauce
shozakathedevil lol can't you see the funny side of things?
Dianne sauce is serious
I wish all cooking videos were this short.
0:44 eat oil?
heat oil....dumbass
you should eat the oil, its good for you. eat the whole bottle
***** Now that's funny hehe. Eat the whole bottle (bottle and all) lol Hell if he want's the good stuf do 10W-40 ))
helmsley07 apparently 22 people are that fucking dumb that they don’t get that it’s a joke because Ramsay’s always going on about the olive oil in all his videos..... dumbass.
no becasue it's a stupid retarded ''joke'' if it even is one,, do you share a room with him to know btw?
ohh my god .. now thats a perfect steak meal .... the balance of taste is increadible 😲 .. hats off .
Perfect, no bs, just listen and get to it, I love this
It's because this video is actually a clip from one Gordon Ramsay's cooking shows
Here is the exact recipe for the dish in this video: www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/gordon-ramsay/steak-diane-recipe
Heres a working link to the recipe as the other link has been taken down. www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/gordon-ramsays-steak-diane-50082064
I can't cook this well so I come to watch Gorden do it instead. Satisfying enough.
Yes, the overly zoomed in camera and the shaky movements have made me dizzy. And there's tons of videos like this that are just simply not helpful at all.
Traditional "Steak Diane" does NOT use garlic, nor mushrooms. Missing demiglace or rich beef broth and a dollop of tomatoe paste. What this essentially is - a mushroomed sauced steak.
look at the description mate
Erbium Misleading
Happens all the time.
Not a single "fucking".
this guy is good, he should become a chef
I love how compact your videos are
Oh men, Gordon, you are epic !!! I'm hungry even it's after midnight.
I love these how to videos. It's for people who already know how to cook.
I must admit. If you have the basic nod of cooking these 1 minute snapshots are great. You got a pause button, and well. You got more time than a minute so it's gotta taste better than Ramsay's! Ha ha. Love it! And this is a classic something i wouldn't normally order or cook after work but really good. Thanks. ...Oh one more thing. Bring back the Kitchen Nightmare's in the UK!
Gordon, you are king of all kitchens! The best!
I'm making this for some old time friends of mine. I have to say though; this video makes the steaks look more alive.
I LOVE vintage dishes ❤️🔥
love that speed of the video
Did a cheap student version of this the other day using cheap cuts of beef...still tasted brilliant!!
