- Slowly but surely my BMW project goes on. Got E60 M5 side skirts installed. Real M5 skirts need a small modification to fit on E61.

Looks good! I bought several sets of wheels and tires from the Tire Rack. One set came with the directional tire mounted facing backwards. I did not see it. Luckily an observant forum member noticed! I think it is more common today as the volume of high performance wheels and tires sold is much higher.

Nice, did the same swap!! The skirts and the rear bumper are the easiest part! I think your skirts came from a sedan, i didn’t had to cut that piece out ... you might need the part that the aircompressor is into...

Good information! Glad I looked here before starting. Those pull rod things mentioned around the 7 minute mark, are only on E61s with panoramic roof, right? Perhaps that is standard on the 535xi. Could not find them on our Euro 2008 530d that has no sunroof. The M/M5 skirt went on without modifications. No cutting necessary.
Thanks for the info! From what I understand, all USA E61s came with pano roof. I personally owned 4 of them, and all had pano roof and these rods. I guess these rods add some rigidity to North American E61s :)
And the green clips you installed are on the original ones already? Going to install mines today hopefully, lots of love from all the way Pakistan

Green clips I took off my old one, they can be reused on both M style and regular side skirts.

These wheels are 19” Vossen CVT, and tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, front 225/35/19 and rear 255/30/19.
Been binge watching your videos while work has been slow these past few days. Been considering getting an E61 as a family vacation car since my E60 is a tight squeeze with a german shepherd in the back. Surprisingly, there aren't a lot of E61 project videos, as opposed to E60 videos. (Shameless plug, but feel free to check out my E60 video if you'd like).
Out of curiosity, I'm guessing you're from Russia or perhaps Ukraine with your accent? What brought you to the US? :)

I came to this side of the world in my teens, it was out of curiosity and because my home country Ukraine was not offering many opportunities (it is changing, but very slowly). I always liked cars and there's no place on the planet like USA that is: 1. Has relatively easy means to buy any car you want. 2. It is big for driving adventures and there's a lot to see. 3. Owning a car is cheap, also gas is still not as expensive as in lets' say Europe.

Are they bolts or what to get side skirt secure cuz my side skirt is loose on my 528xi
They are plastic pins that hold the skirts. You could try using these expanding pins: www.ebay.com/itm/323364159149
Did the skirts affect ground clearance?
No, they didn't in my case. I think they are the same height but just wider.
Is it possible to swap Heads Up Display and Lane Departure Warning between E61s? I currently own an E61 with high mileage and needs a lot of work. I am looking to buy another e61 with lower mileage and significantly less wear, but it does not have HUD or Lane departure. Is it possible for a mechanic to swap these options unto the newer wagon? They're exactly the same year.
Would I need to swap the vehicle computers? Basically any idea about how to achieve this change over will be greatly appreciated.

I have seen people retrofitting HUD, I think swap should be even easier. But, some of these modules would need coding. I know from my previous experience that everything that deals with car’s VIN has to be coded and is not plug and play.
If you completely swap all computers and wiring will match, probably you would be ok, but I’m not sure. Make sure to check wiring plugs, that wires match on donor and your car. If donor had different options, at least one, wiring could be different.

Are the M5 side skits for the wagons and sedans interchangeable?
Yes, they are. As noted by a viewer, models without sunroof don't need any modifications. Direct swap. For cars with a panoramic sunroof small cut on both sides is needed.
