the type054 series were made to be cheap and mass producable since at the time china's navy lacked any modern warships. It set the baseline for the modern chinese navy.
I would rank FFG(X) higher than AG: Constellation has significantly more advanced sensors (Radar and EW), can carry more missiles (due to quad-packing ESSM, which is equivalent/superior to redut and having 16 NSM) and has a significantly superior ASW capability with an Variable-Depth Sonar which AG lacks completely and a SH-60+ MQ-8 combination (SH-60 being a heavier, more capable helicopter than Ka-27)

I think it's a little too early to compare the Gorshkov with the Type 054B, given we only have unofficial info or what I consider fairly credible rumours on the Type 054B so far. My opinion is that the Admiral Gorshkov should still retain much better surface-to-surface firepower with its long-range ASCMs including the Tsirkon that will enter service soon, but the Type 054B should be more suitable for area air defence, particularly if it uses the Chinese UVLS as I believe it will.

On paper, the Gorshkovs were the best frigate afloat. But sadly, they're in service with the Russian Navy that has a reputation of badly maintaining its ships.
I would'nt say that. Reality speaks better than words. Look at the Moskva it sunk because it was sent out in poor condition with its defence technologies was not working. Look at the akula months before the US could not locate it in the Atlantic. Now it was spotted off the coast off Norway. Did US technology improve over 4 months or is the akula not being mantained properly hence it's stealth being deterioriated.

@@jamesmandahl444 it's not an anti-ruskie propaganda when theres a leaked report on how badly the Russian Navy maintained their former Black Sea flagship.
Nah they are pretty legit. You and I have been thru some of the most intense propaganda campaigns seen in human history. Not all is as it seems. Dont just assume what you hear regarding Russia is always true, whether good or bad.
As with any russian war-materiel alot can be said. Often not much good. With the pisspoor performance in Ukraine in mind I remain very doubtfull that this Frigate can do all it intends to do. Even so , with all this technology apparantly modern and all. If the training of the crew does´nt match this. Then overall performance might not be as high as expected. Apparantly the Moscow the flagship of the black sea fleet , was so badly maintained only one of the 4 CIWS worked. The radar interfered with communications . And all firefighting gear was locked away due to the crew apparantly stealing it. It was despite all that considered battleready enough to fight. If the conditions are so bad on what should be the pride of the black sea fleet. Then I highly doubt that the effective fighting capabilities of this ship match up with what it should be able to do on paper. All the information about the Moscow was from another youtuber Lazerpig. On another note is´nt it strange that every Russian navy video of exercises never show the crew in battlegear. No flak wests , no helmets. Would´nt it make sense to train as you would actually fight? Also from what I have heard, Russia never put much thinking into the design of operating surfaces of their combat systems. If you expect a soldier to look at a radar screen or weapons-computer 8-10 hours a day atleast make the screen layout , colours and what else you can. As easy and less tireing as possible to avoid fatigue and minimize chances of errors being made. My point really is that the ship might be very good. But if the crew is shit then what´s reality of it´s capabilities.
Ah yes, was expecting the Russian troll bots to be out in force and they didn’t disappoint. On paper very impressive ship and I’m a fan. Impressive weaponry. However long term maintenance and crew training are probably questionable as is a recurring theme with the Russian military. Also its weaponry may be impressive but it’s electronic systems and radars don’t come close to the latest Aegis systems. This ship would never get close enough to an opposing naval force to launch its missiles to begin with. Carrier launched F35’s would sink her before she knew what hit her.

He makes an attempt to be impartial, and what he says is defensible, although he does stay on the more conservative side in terms of PLA asset numbers and capabilities. For example, in his recent video on the surge in Chinese combat aircraft production, I think he undercounted the J-15 and H-6K/J/N numbers somewhat, but the estimates he presented for other aircrafts were defensible. He clearly tries to get hold of the correct sources, or have people working for him that scour Chinese language forums. I can't speak for Binkov's videos on Russian equipment or military affairs though, because I haven't watched many of his videos on that topic, and I know far less about Russian capabilities in general.

The loss of the Moskva (Slava class Cruiser) changes many of our ideas on the effectiveness of Russian systems. While it is easy to blame the Captain and crew, there are deeper issues that need more discussion. Frigates are by design, smaller warships that are usually tasked with the outer perimeter defense of the fleet, but the Russian Navy has a different take on that idea. The newer Russian Frigates are really scaled down Destroyers, in that their mission is a balance between offense and defense. The Admiral Gorshkov class Frigates are fine ships but suffer from the attempt to be the "Jack-of-all-Trades" and master of none. The threat facing the Russian Navy comes from surface, air and submarine launched missiles and torpedoes. The Admiral Gorshkov is an impressive looking Frigate that is ill equipped to fight in the modern weapons environment, it's small size makes it vulnerable to loss from relatively light damage...it takes highly trained crews and a certain amount of "bulk" and water tight compartmenting to survive missile strikes...the Admiral Gorshkov has too little air defense capability, too little "bulk" and given the experience of the Moskva little chance of survival in modern combat.
thats any ship tbh, todays attack is stronger than defense tech. look at russia can use their hyper sonic missiles and destroy literrary all usa navy lol.
@@definitelyfrank9341 Yeah...but when your Navy's budget is two and a half times larger than the entire Defense budget of your nearest peer competitor you can afford to "experiment".
Russia would be better off building more of these instead of trying to keep those ancient Soviet Cruisers, Destroyers and the Kuznetsov alive. These are probably more combat effective than the Sovremenny class or Slava class considering what happened to the Moskva.

@@jamesmandahl444 if you look at it from another pov, given the russians relatively small military budget compared to the US and china, it's only logical that they would struggle to maintain a lot of equipment. servicing a military that requires a large yet elite navy, army and air force on such a poultry budget...it's only inevitable that there are going to be major holes when it comes to general upkeep and training. dude mentioning the sinking of the movska and the spotting of the akula is right. heck even vostok 2022 they couldn't even send more than a quarter of the ships they had announced to participate. i think the criticism is fair
It’s a brand new ship there’s a different between a ship from the 70s and 2022 😂 you fool
@@jamesmandahl444 it's not an anti-ruskie propaganda when theres a leaked report on how badly the Russian Navy maintained their former Black Sea flagship.
I don't believe in russian specs anymore.
Nah they are pretty legit. You and I have been thru some of the most intense propaganda campaigns seen in human history. Not all is as it seems. Dont just assume what you hear regarding Russia is always true, whether good or bad.
Specs are fine. But corruption has severely impacted maintenance of their ships and sanctions have probably made it even worse.
@@jamesmandahl444 No they really are not. Is now known Russia inflates all its military specifications and capabilities.
Send it to Ukraine and Admiral Gorshkov will become a permanent underwater memory of failed Russia ships.
They did, and yet here it still fights and yet still it’s bombing ukraine with moskits and zircons
Well lets Say the Operator because the crew can be good but the rest can be shit

HHHHhhhaaaa just more Russian "Paper Tiger" JUNK !!!!! Semper Fi

Binkov's battleground
Haha thanks for your support. I actually find Binkov's videos on Chinese naval and air power to be not too bad.
Very anti-China, i think.
His comments are through the roof anti-China.

He cant do anything about that but still annoying.

@@collinwood6573 Because they aren't part of the fleet nearest to the enemy they're fighting, and they really have no need to put such a high value target there. They already have missile boats which are much lower value targets and can get the job done.
Russias military stuff is always "best" before it's used in combat...
