I figured out years ago that they're in it with the GOP. There's a few token issues like abortion and LGBTQIA+ rights where they differ, but the modern Democrats exist as a part in large part to give cover to the GOP. It's why they intentionally throw winnable fights and refuse to go all in on popular positions. Those checks during the pandemic were incredibly popular with the people, but we hardly got any assistance and essential workers got nothing at all that wasn't either handed out to everybody or the result of local politicians doing the right thing. So, we were out there day in and day out risking our health and lives while folks on unemployment were making more money for staying home.
And I do get it, we wanted people to stay home in an effort to buy time for more and better treatments, but the Democrats failing to ensure that the workers in the food supply, hospitals, trucking, and other folks that had to continue working were taken care of was damnable.

@@HarryF-tz5fo Yep, and the thing that gets me is that when Obama left office following the 2008, the Republicans were pretty much on the ropes. Another electoral trouncing for the Presidency and they would have probably figured out like the Democrats did in 1992 that they needed to do something different. Unfortunately, the DNC forced HRC on us over Bernie and Trump got billions of dollars in free advertising from the news media and we got a new GOP that was absolutely horrific. So now, we've got two parties representing the right most 5/8ths of the population and nobody representing the left most 3/8ths.
My only hope is that they mostly split that vote for 5/16ths each and RFK jr., can get enough of the remainder for the win. There haven't been very many polls of RFK jr., against Biden around here, but he's polling well ahead of Biden. He polls behind both Trump and Biden when all the possible candidates are included, but I wouldn't personally assume that he can't take the state and I'd be curious about how many other states that's the case in.
Especially if the Democratic officials have given up on winning, as there is a pretty broad coalition of people that don't want another 4 years of Trump.

Nah I just think democrats know that, considering Trump was already leading in the polls before the assassination attempt and considering president’s poll numbers always improve after an attempt on their life, they just realize it doesn’t matter who the democrat candidate is they’re going to lose against Trump.

I've lost count of how many factions the Democratic Party has fractured into. Is it overly dramatic to wonder how the party itself survives after this cycle?
I mean, it's far less fractured than the GOP is since Trump was injected into that mix. Democrats align on vastly more than the current GOP does.
The continue purely because no 3rd party has been able to break through. If they insist on forcing Biden on us, there's a non-zero chance that RFK jr., finally breaks through as he seems to have the best shot of it since Ross Perot did. And before that the previous one was Teddy Roosevelt who didn't even have the advantage of being related to a previous President.
The 2028 version will be dramatically different, thank God.
In some other countries these factions within the same party would gather up, leave and form a different party. I would like to see the Democratic party (as well as the Republican party) go through that.
I became independent because the moderate Democrats are lumped into far right by the far left. It’s ridiculous.
I was most offended by Biden’s challenge of “name one foreign leader who says I should step down”. He still hasn’t realized that it’s his over-obsession with foreign policy and under-obsession with AMERICAN voters’ problems that’s mostly causing him to lose support.

When I saw Kirby and KJP banter openly about the "big boy" press conference, I felt that was a deliberate unravelling of respect for Biden.

Why waste a new potential Candidate. Trump is all but guaranteed to win. Biden's Failure made 2017- even 2020 more palpable to most Americans.

National labor board actually ruling in favor of unions and actually doing their job by not letting corporations rig union voting. Quite a few unions have formed recently because of this. Yeah, remember that Biden was in charge of the secret service for 4 years, ultimately, this assassination attempt is going to look bad, especially since it was only in the last few weeks that SCOTUS ruled that the President has complete immunity for official acts and running the secret service is definitely an official act. Even though, I don't personally believe in conspiracy theories like that, there are definitely folks across the political spectrum that do. And they're disproportionately independent and right wing. The right wing ones were never going to vote Biden, but some of the independents might have. Or, they might have just stayed home entirely.

I kind of hope that Biden doesn't drop so that RFK jr., can stage an upset. He could well be the winner as he's got some antivax craziness for folks on the right, and he's got some anti-money in politics for folks that are more progressive. He's a Kennedy, so folks of a more tradiitonal liberal position will probably accept him as a reasonable 3rd party option and he grew up with some very successful politicians and knows how the game is played.
We'll see, because it's probably going to come down to whether they want team blue or team red to win, which is absolutely disgusting.

One event has nothing to do with the other issue, these are two separate things that should be handled as separate issues.
