Al, i just noticed the other moose that was bedded down to the right of Moose 6. It was on the edge of the screen and it got up just after you shot and exited to the right. It is only visible for a second. Looked like a smaller bull.
Al, absolutely outstanding videos! I heading to Newfoundland Last week of Sep 2023 for my first moose hunt. The groups on my 7mm REM Mag have started to open up so I believe there has been some throat erosion going on. Going to get her rebarreled and then move up in grain weight to thes max it will handle and shoot accurately. I’m thinking about 172 grain’s. What’s your thoughts?
Hi Robert, Thank you. How many rounds do you have through the rifle? The first thing I would do is clean it really well, making sure its cleaned down to bare metal. Especially around the throat area, if you have borescope that would help to see if the carbon ring is completely gone or still there. If you don't have a borescope, Teslong makes nice ones that are very affordable. I had a carbon ring in one of my 338 Lapua's that took almost 5 days to completely get rid of and then it shot lights out again. Then check every screw for the proper torque. After cleaning try shooting for groups again and if it's still opened up, if you're a hand loader, try seating the bullet farther out if you can in .005" increments. Depending on mag length. 172 grain bullets would be a good choice, I'm guessing that's the Hornady ELD-X bullets? You'll have a great time hunting moose, its my favourite animal to hunt. They are huge animals and very tough. If you have already tried all that I mentioned above and you have a high round count, it might be time for a new barrel. Thank you so much for the comment and watching, its greatly appreciated, take care and I know its a ways away but good luck on your moose hunt and let me know how you make out. Newfoundland has more moose than people. :)
Hi Luke, The point of harvesting the moose is to feed myself and my family. I only eat wild meat and will not purchase any meat from a store. Wild meat is all organic and I know what I am eating. Oh and it tastes amazing. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.
@@Luk3TheMasterI don’t understand why people have this misconception that you can just kill for fun. People eat deer, elk, bear, moose, ducks, doves… Shit they even eat squirrel and beaver. The only things you can kill and not eat would be a predator or nuisance species like a coyote or invasive pig which can destroy and kill a farm or livestock. Even when people get massive controversy for a kill on Zebra or Giraffe in Africa, the locals eat it.
Nice video, that 338Lapua reach’s out there a long way. I use Tikka 3tx in 300WSM. I’m comfortable at 500yds. Any longer than that, a 338 Lapua is required. One day 👍
Hi Johnny, thanks, I love my 338's they are hammers. I like to get the moose as close as I can, but sometimes it's just not possible. 300WSM is a great cartridge. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care my friend.
Great compilation video.
Thanks Tim'r, I hope your doing well, take care.

Honestly this is a nice compilation!
Just asking, what’s the point of killing the moose? I don’t mean it in a rude way I’m just curious.

@@bcextremeoutdoorsman Thanks for explaining, I was just curious if you did it for fun or food.
