2:09 I can't help but feel that this is a reference to God Gravion's final attack. From the way Dancouga lifts up its sword, the mask appearing over its face, and then doing the Obari pose. It'd makes since, I guess, since they're both works of Obari.
Maybe, but as a whole, the entire attack is more of reference to the Dancou Dangaiken. As such, the mask coving the face is meant to evoke Dancouga Nova Max God.
This redesign really kinda feels like if Dancouga Nova were made in the 80s. It doesn't feel like it has quite the rough edge of the original design. Then again, Nova is a 2000s redesign by Obari, so he's free to influence himself in whatever directions or styles he wants to. X3
i still like original dancouga over nova. but i hate to admit... the bro-fist they did together.. was pretty freaking cool. Don't know why but that got me super excited like a 5 year old boy who got his present he wanted on Christmas.
With Dancoukaiser as I call this machine in this game, I'm surprised Ashi Productions still hasn't come with another anime for Dancouga considering fans buy the merch. I also wonder if we're gonna get more Dancouga Nova or Dancouga Burn merch as well.
Considering Dancouga' base head is still the same (with some additional stuff put OVER it) does that mean that the sliding visor was (retroactively) always there?
@@ExiaAvalancheMkII He did. In Requiem for Victims when Muge was using too much psychic pressure so the only way to beat him was to throw the sword at him.

I may just be in the minority here, but introducing Ultimate Dancouga as a DLC not debuting in a full SRW game somewhat diminishes its impact if it becomes a main cast. Remember the hype when Mazinger ZERO first showed up in V?
To be fair, this was only commissioned for this game specifically. And even if this was used in a future SRW game, there is still much to improve on this unit. The fact that it only has 5 attacks when Dancounga alone could easily go 7-8. In short, this DLC unit is more like a test draft.
@@misora25chan Totally agree. Dancouga, Barbatos and Devolution Getter feel like "incomplete" units so is probably a case of a first testing. Heck, I could put Kaiser in that list, after all, why no put his Kaiser blades attack in the game? The infinitism kit have them

If it makes you feel better, a few Transformers animators including Masami Obari (who did this redesign) later worked on Dancouga, as well as Production Reed/Ashi Production who did animation on G1, later animated Dancouga (and funny enough, Beast Wars II and Neo).
Eh, I'd say that among all units in the DLC these are among the weaker ones. Too much reliance on still sprites. And holy crap, 0:34 looks SO BAD. I think it was animated by the same guy that did Dygenguar, because you can see the same sprite rotation in the Daisharin attack.
Does Dancouga Split into its four mecha component units in this DLC? Or just like Combatler V and Voltes V did Bandai left that out too? Such a shame then if it's the case.
It feels like a wasted unit. They went through the trouble of creating an original version yet they gave it some of the most boring and generic attacks.

This was a reference to one of the final battles in the anime
The lack of Black Wing and its pilot means this feels more like a side-grade to Final Dancouga, rather than being a real upgrade.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought this.
it's an overall downgrade
they say this is the upgraded Dancouga if the canon ending of the anime went on where Black Wing's pilot died

Pity that the ultimate Dancougar Is not a modular robot and even if is drive by four pilots Is a unique piece....
I can only hear Judau... XD

I guess Shinobu watch an episode of Supaidaman and inspired by Leopardons hissatsu attack
He did that in the Requiem for Victims OVA of Dancouga.
