Really great to see West African cichlids being featured. They are underrated!! I’ve kept C. guntheri over a few generations, love them. Like all medium cichlids, they are fine (just not with smaller tetras etc, they will be opportunistic once they are larger). Have kept Steatocranus casuarius, Anomalochromis thomasi, Nanochromis transvetitus, N. parilus, N. teugelsi, N. Splendens, a few Benitochromis spp, Rubricatochromis cristatus, and a few Pelvicachromis species. All fantastic fish. Some other Congolese cichlids are more aggressive, like Thoracochromis callichromus and Heterochromis multidens and need more specialised set ups (still great fish).
as a Canadian, I am truly jealous of your access to the Wet Spot. They are one of the few places I know of that actually gets some cool and relatively rare West African species in. It took me forever to find a lead on Hemichromis elongatus, and I'm still looking for more Five Star Generals which are the furthest thing from peaceful, tilapia and other riverine Africans. Awesome fish you have there!
Wtf are you talking about? There are thousands of species of African Cichlids, they are not all aggressive. Some of the most peaceful cichlids come from Africa. Youre really making yourself look like a fool.
Most people mean MALAWIS when they say “African Cichlids”. They literally mean “Rift Lake Cichlids” from Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganyika, and Lake Victoria. Yep, most Malawi cichlids are too aggressive for a community tank (unless it’s the right mix of other Malawi cichlids, maybe some Synodontis from the same lake). Africa is big. Cichlids shown are West and Central African - from DRC, Cameroon, Guinea, etc. Most are riverine. They are pretty mild-mannered, as you can see. They can live in community tanks with certain other West and Central African cichlids, and other community fish. Your accusation is ill-mannered and ill-informed. He even named an exception, W. rubrolabiatus.. which is a bit more aggressive. Do a bit more research before talking bull.

Love this vid! I'm looking at doing a 40 breeder "West African" river. I kept Teleogramma brichardi years back. It's time again!

Chelsea's knowledgeability is formidable
Chelsea, you have such a command of the scientific names of fish….they just roll off of your tongue. I am impressed by your knowledge.

Great video!!! I just ordered a pair of Kribs from Dan's Fish!❤❤
As usual you people are good.
Karen Haas, one of the best breeders on the east coast, has spawned the tigripictilis
What took so long for this video 😂 thanks now I will be placing a new order this weekend
Great video! Have either of you ever kept telmatochromis temporalis…they are from Lake Tanganyika and are my absolute favorite cichlid…😊
Haven't kept that one yet.
You should check them out…they are feisty…but they are beautiful with LOTS of personality and I found them to be monogamous and extremely prolific…
Hi great content!
Is it a microphone on your hat?
Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
