  • Thanks so much for joining me today.
    Following my last video I had one or two requests to show how I made the origami envelope box that I included in the page I made for Angela Kerr's FJ.
    Whilst there are plenty of UA-cam videos showing the process, I decided to give it a go and do a tutorial as most of the videos I've seen on UA-cam start by using a square piece of paper, whereas I use a rectangle. There is no real difference to the end result but as most of the pages I use are book pages it makes it slightly easier to start with a rectangle.
    As always thank you so much for watching. I really do appreciate your support. I love reading your comments so please do leave me one.
    Take care,

    日本のオリガミでは新聞紙や広告チラシで作る「ゴミ箱」として有名な折り方ですが、選ぶペーパーや飾りのアレンジでこんなに素敵なボックスになるのですね!

    Wow...that is fun! You’re a good instructor! My first one came out almost perfectly! My folds must have been off a tiny bit since when I close it, the two inside folds crunch together a bit. But I will try again. Thanks so very much, Carol. Next time, would love to see your crafting partner Bishop!

    I love these, I use deli wrap paper for so many things (because I have a box that originally contained 1,000 sheets 12x12") I print on these, make journals out of them and love translating the origami folding thingies into deli wrap versions. Just made one using your tutorial, finished measurement: 2" x a little over 2" I am using it to hold several tiny die cuts of numbers etc. It is a very good container for these little things and the folds and belliband keep things from falling out.

    • @oakhousejournals
      @oakhousejournals  2 роки тому

      Hi Pauline, thanks for your lovely chatty comment....loved it. WOW what a find, getting that box of deli papers. I really enjoy working with vellum and this little box is perfect for that, so it'll be perfect for making with deli paper too. And it won't add any dimension if you're using the box in a journal or the like. I use mine mainly in journals and happy mail. As you mentioned it's great for holding die cuts, fussy cuts or stamps... anything really.
      Thanks so much for watching and letting me know how you use your origami boxes. Hugs C xx

      It was sooooo lovely to read your kind comment this morning, Thank you.
      You are absolutely right, these boxes are perfect for advent calendars. I've used them a couple of times for just that. If you make a cover with a spine, just like a book cover and have the boxes on the inside, they make a great little advent calendar.
      I tend to use a couple of pieces of ribbon to hold the cover shut, but if you use ribbon on the boxes themselves ( bit fiddly but can be done) you don't really need to hold the cover shut as well. BUT it really adds a lovely, luxurious festive touch having a bow on the side. Hope you'll give it a try. Enjoy your festive season. Hugs C xx

      Hi Karen, oh goodness this is an old video but glad you liked the origami boxes. I've just finished making a Chinese Thread Book and used the same envelope boxes inside. They make lovely little happy mail items with a few die or fussy cuts inside. Enjoy making your's. Hugs C xx

      Hmmm, favourite colour? Hard one as it depends what for. I tend to wear a lot of blue but love working with green in my journals. Home decor it's got to be the palest grey. But I'm always drawn to a rich rusty colour if I see it. Sorry not much use there was I....lol. C xx

    For people who don't wish to damange books, you can print a faux page on any regular office printer in a thicker paper / thinner cardboard, only don't forget to set you printer properly for thicker paper otherwise it won't "bake" toner/ink well enough and it might peel off.

      You are more than welcome, Terry. Yes, I'm a huge fan of Wendy's & Leo too. Bishop likes to think he can become Leo at times & tries to make an entrance but most of the time he's happy to snooze on top of the radiator, wedged between my desk and the wall... he's a big cat so it's amazing he fits there really. I'm so sorry for the late reply but I've only just spotted your comment. I made the video over three years ago and can't remember what the original paper dimensions were, I'm sorry. But It doesn't make any difference what size paper you use, provided it's a rectangle though.
      I'm away on holiday for a few weeks from this week but if you email me (carolpr292@gmail.com) I'll do my best to help you as soon as I get back if you can wait that long. Perhaps I can talk you through it. I'm more than happy to, if you'd like me to. Hugs C xx

      Hi Candy, so sorry for the later reply but I've only just spotted your comment and for some reason I didn't get the usual email notification from YT of a posted comment. Apologies.
      Without reviewing the video I can't remember off hand the paper size I used ( very remiss of me if I didn't say what it was in the video!). I've just checked with one I've still got in my stash and I made that one with a book page measuring 8" x 5.5". Obviously you can make these using whatever size of paper you have to hand provided it's a rectangle. Hope that helps and thanks for watching. C xx

      Susan, I'm sooooo sorry but I made that video three years ago now and can't remember the actual dimensions of the paper I used BUT the joy of these little origami envelope boxes is that you can make them out of any size of paper provided it's a rectangle. Hugs C xx

    • @oakhousejournals
      @oakhousejournals  4 місяці тому +2

      You don't need a specific page size to make these and yes, you can make them out of an A4 sheet. I made mine out of a book page, as you saw. So long as you have a rectangle it will work. Hope that helps a little. C xx

      Hi & thanks for watching. What a nice coincidence. Bishop was my gorgeous 10yr old tabby. Soft as I don't know what and such an affectionate cat who loved nothing better than to be on the bed, snuggled close as I watched crafting videos or by my side in the craft room as I created. Sadly we lost him last December in an RTA. Enjoy and treasure your Bishop. Hugs C xx

      @@oakhousejournals rescue cats are the best! I'm glad you have them!
      So my son and I picked out the cat (who was named Columbia when we got him.) My instant name for him was Staniel, but my son wanted to name him Bishop, and so we went with Bishop Staniel! Obviously, we just call him Bishop. He is a grey tuxedo with half a white mustache! He's velvety soft and loves to play tag and kiss me or paw my face gently when it's "time for breakfast." He will be four this year.
      Cuddle your babies for me too! Thank you! Hugs! Xx
