You need to educate the people about politics and ideology first before people can understand where they land. But they also need the time to be able to learn. Which means we need better standards of living, material conditions, and economy that will allow this. Capitalism is squeezing the overwhelming majority of us to the point where we struggle to survive to the point where many don’t have the energy or time to actually sit and learn about where they stand so they know how to be civically engaged. The root of all of this is Capitalism.

My Papa once told me that in his county in Texas, there used to be a box where you would just check _Vote Republican_ or _Vote Democrat_ and it would just auto-count your vote to a member of that party *in every race on the ballot.* 😮😵‍💫😵 That is - ironically - the most undemocratic ballot I've ever heard of.

Ranked choice voting in Maine made a difference during the 2018 miderms, Maine's 2nd congressional district was a close race between the republican and democratic candidates and neither reached the 50% majority needed to win outright on first-choice votes, it was something like 48% to 47% in favor of the republican. However once the 2nd choice votes were counted for those who voted for the 3rd party candidates, the majority of those votes went to the Democratic candidate, proving the effectiveness of ranked choice voting quite well because without ranked choice, the result would have been different if you assume everyone's first choice would have been the same. the ranked choice system effectively just eliminates the notion of "spoiler" 3rd party votes, and is essentially just a runoff.
But of course, the republicans saw this as a stolen election and have been fighting to repeal ranked choice voting ever since.

It'd take some sort of insane event or one of the major parties doing something so wild that people would abandon it. 2. This video mentions briefly something that needs to be focused on a bit more: the two major political parties tend to blame voters who vote for non-mainstream candidates when their candidate loses rather than themselves for nominating a terrible candidate. In 2016, the least popular person in politics was Hilary Clinton and the most popular was Bernie Sanders, yet the dems sabotaged Sanders in the primaries, look how that turned out. The way it looks right now, I'm going to vote for Cornel West because A, I generally agree with his platform; B, Biden is a supporter of genocide; and C, trump is a violent petty racist misogynistic homophobic transphobic oligarchic malignant narcissist nazi (etc etc etc). Points B and C are deal breakers, and I will not vote for those candidates. That leaves two choices: abstain from voting or vote for the non-mainstream candidate I like best. I consider abstaining from voting to be throwing my vote away, and living in MN I've learned that even the person polling last that no one takes seriously can win, but people have to vote for that candidate in order to make it happen (a la Jesse Ventura).

You should have mentioned my country, the Netherlands. We don't even have multi-candidate districts that are safer against gerrymandering. We don't have districts at all. We have a system of national multi-party list elections where the entire country acts as one constituency and all members of parliament are chosen proportionally by the entire population. Imo this is even better than the Danish example you mentioned because we don't just have a system that is harder to gerrymander, but a system where gerrymandering is impossible (which is why I was so upset by the idea of Pieter Omtzigt, leader of the new party: New Social Contract to introduce a district system to have rural areas more represented. I get why he wants it, but I think you can achieve more with quotas for rural representation than import America's broken system of districts and gerrymander politics into ours). We also do have many different political parties. According to some too many. I believe there are currently 20 different parties and independents sitting in parliament

It’s _not_ impossible to elect a third-party candidate; starting with that presumption, however, is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You necessarily can’t win if you don’t enter the ring!
That said, the Electoral College system is one reason why such a victory is extremely unlikely. Even with the deck stacked heavily against changing one of the big parties’ platforms through primaries, that’s a better bet and ought to be Plan A.
A third option proceeding to the general can be effective for the very reason one party or the other will call it a spoiler: it can decide which faction of the establishment ends up holding office!
The message sent is, “If you want our votes, then earn them with policy. Otherwise, the other guys are the ones who get to be capitalists’ bag men.”
The same holds for the faction you’ve put into office. “You’re fired!” can be the message they get next time.

2, the voter abstains from voting
If the only non-wasted votes are those cast for the winner, then its pointless to vote for anyone/anything other than the winner, and everyone should only vote for who they think will win, at which point democracy is a fallacy and there's no reason to have elections at all.

Third party presidential candidacies are unserious - if you want to build a different party, you start at the city council level, then state legislature, then eventually a federal Congressional seat. You don't start with president and work down, unless the presidential run is _just_ a signaling tactic to create some hype for the downballot candidates.
Like, if No Labels was serious, they should be a home for the Liz Cheneys and Adam Kinzingers to try to get their House seats back, not floating Manchin for president.
Perot had _some_ success, but the only way a third party candidacy would have a _real_ chance at president and not just act as a spoiler, would be a "no-party" anti-politics ticket with, like, Oprah+Dwayne Johnson or something.

The common party. Common sense government for the common people.
    That's what we need.
We need term limits for Congress.
We need an age cap for political office and seats of authority.
    No more open borders.
    No more qualified immunity.
We need a new agency that investigates our police and is given incentive not to get in bed with any department.
    No more senility.
Employers need to start carrying their own weight and do right by their employees.
Why are wait staff still dependent on tips?
Why are truck drivers still paid by the mile?
If we have a school shooter epidemic, why aren't we protecting our schools?
We need to put a stop to sneaky unrelated language being put into bills mostly aimed at and titled specifically toward other issues.
We need to update our voting system and we need to start gravitating to letting the people vote on issues instead of a bunch of old crooks voting quietly behind a curtain.
We have to stop putting restrictions on or outright taking away freedoms from a demographic before we'll give them an inch on another issue.
We have to stop supporting the desire to strip a demographic of a valued freedom just to appease the whims of another.
We need to cease entertaining ludicrous regulations and laws that only serve to line the pockets of the already insanely wealthy and powerful.
We cannot allow for the American people to continue being exploited and left out.
There's just so many issues and so much corruption and way too many loopholes to ease into fixing.
To make any actual progress we'd all have to agree on extreme measures being utilized in order to forcibly repair our country and instill fear into those that would trespass the rights and security of the American people as well as their trust.
Most importantly, we've got to stop doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different or better results.
Our leaders should be held to higher standards. They should be made to actually answer questions instead of their vague double speak dodging that we've become accustomed to.
We need to put the housing crisis and all issues in it's orbit under a microscope.
It's time that the people implemented a zero tolerance policy of their own.
    The insanity has to stop.
