This is a great encouragement to me in two ways. The content which shows how God was ridiculous (why I should not fear being ridiculous). The audience who were listening to THE Dr. Bryan Chapell and were not paying close attention. As someone who aspires to preach and teach, I can't expect everyone to listen no matter how great I open God's word. The only proper desire, perhaps, is to look at God and ask, "Did I show myself to be trustworthy in handling your word?"
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Tonight (March 6, Lent 4), I attended a Lent service at my sister church. John 18:3-8, 12, was one of the Scriptures read. The focus tonight was on The Centurion.
They were in the presence of God. When Jesus said I AM He, it was similar to when Moses was told by God I AM That I AM. Jesus is the son of God. His power made them fall before him. But he permitted them to do what they did to accomplish his goal for forgiveness of sins.
God bless you Pastor..
Such an awesome teaching.
