This makes me incredibly jealous. I went in mid January. It rained the day we got there at all elevations, froze and didn't snow until the day after we left :(. All those runs look waaaaaay better with pow! Hope you hit the foot onsen at the base of Tsugaike!
I'd highly recommend bringing split. There's a lot of easy tours from the lifts. Consider hiring a guide if your going into the backcountry though, it's pretty easy to end up in the wrong place out there.

Amazing vid! I will be in Hakuba (Tsugaike) for next 2 months. I'm taking my powder board with me. Should I take splitboard as well?
