- Ice fishing for the infamous greenback walleye on Lake Winnipeg. Winnipeg is a massive body of water with tremendous walleye populations. One of the very best ice fishing destinations if your goal is to catch a giant walleye. This fishery produces some of the biggest walleye caught through the ice.
Jason Mitchell and a crew of friends join up with longtime guide, Dan Kiazyk. We try to explain the mentality and attitude required to catch fish on this lake. With very subtle structure and very nomadic fish, anglers need to make big moves to break down water and find fish. Productive lures and presentations are explained. Information packed episode for any ice angler planning to fish Lake Winnipeg.

I don’t have enough friends especially when you add the “no complaining” part 😂
Great video as usual Jason.....thank you
Wow what a wicked video. Sums up Big Windy to a T. Exactly what keeps me going back there.
Awesome fish. Tight lines fellas.
Another good video. Informative and honest. We were fishing in the Devils Lake area when you were here. Did well but no big fish especially compared to Winny. After seeing your posts and videos it gave my buddies inspiration to try this which I’ve been wanting to do for years. We’re already talking to guides and planning next years trip. Keep up the great videos….

Great clip Jason, I’m headed to Winnipeg this year. What’s your recommendation for a high quality reel, and line. I am basically building new setups for the bigger caliber fish. Thanks!

Great fish!
Jig and minnow will catch fish all day long on Lake Winnipeg. Rattle baits, frostbite dinner bells and amazing lures from Element custom baits will land you masters. I am from Winnipeg and fish Lake Winnipeg every week. You have to keep moving, run and gunning to find them.
