    Wow....you made this way too easy. I really appreciate this tutorial. Coffee is on me.
    You would never be able to work for AutoDesk because you make too much sense and your approach is way to efficient, elegant, and effective.

    Is there any way to use a number in every point, to join them with lines automatically in that order?

    Does anyone know how to get a true scale in excel for a site plan?
    It seem that the bigger the site plan is the more the scale gets off. I think excel is not accounting for the grid lines and it throws the cells off. Is there an option in excel to take that into account?

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  8 років тому

      Hi. Good question. I'm not sure that you can automatically do that in AutoCAD. You may have to manually add the text after importing the points. If you have access to Civil3D, however, then adding points will also add the elevation data as an object that can displayed very easily. Do you have Civil3D? If you do, you can see me importing a text file to Civil3D and displaying point elevations in this video: ua-cam.com/video/EOxB2pYWuGI/v-deo.html

    my command line menu , where you type point , disappear how to bring it back , I full with a lot of menu this autocad screen

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  4 роки тому

      The command line can appear in a floating tool bar, so it is possible to move it, hide it, minimise it and close it
      independently to everything else on the screen. If you have accidentally closed the toolbar, holding down the CTRL key and pressing 9 should bring it back.

    So how do I join the points?

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  8 років тому

      I'm not sure that there is an easy way to join them automatically without writing a script, and I've never tried that. Depending on the number of points, it may be easier to manually join them using a line, polyline or 3DPolyline in CAD after they have been imported.

    • @thisdude5584
      @thisdude5584 8 років тому

      ***** Is there a way to write a script with the coordinates so that I can import it into autocad and it will display a drawing instead of points?
      I can do that in solidworks.

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  8 років тому

      +This Dude There may well be, I'm not sure. It's easy enough in Civil3D to code up the points to automatically join, but I'll be honest, it's not something I've ever tried to do in AutoCAD. One complication I can think of is that more than likely not all points will be joined to each other (for example, maybe you only need the outside points to be joined to form a boundary line, but the points inside would not need to be joined by lines), and it might be difficult to code them so that only the ones you want joined become joined while the rest are treated as single points. Not saying it can't be done, but I can't help you on that one, I'm afraid.

    How can I level the point, I want to show its station no. as well?

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  6 років тому

      A point in AutoCAD only has 3 bits of information. They are the X, Y and Z coordinates. If you need to add more attributes to a point, perhaps you could look into importing a point file into Civil3D

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  6 років тому

      Hi. Sorry, I do not have the 2007 version to do any testing with, but I'd imagine it's done the same way? The main component is getting the data in the correct format using Concatenate in Excel, and after that it's just the multiple point creation command in AutoCAD.

    What about point numbers?

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  3 роки тому

      Not sure point numbers mean a whole lot in regular AutoCAD. They’re much more important in Civil3D, and I have videos showing how to import point files into Civil3D elsewhere on the channel.

    I Cant Plot the data in the autucad. it says invalid points

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  8 років тому

      Hi. There could be any number of reasons for that. If you have followed my video exactly, then the problem may be that the limits are set too low in AutoCAD, or that the numbers are not in a format that AutoCAD recognises. Can you give me an example of a coordinate for one of your points please?

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  6 років тому

      The level should also be imported, but it won’t show up on the CAD screen as a label. If you follow the video and then use the “ID” command over one of the points, you should see the level data in there. It will be the 3rd value, after X and Y

    how do i join these points ? simple lines ??

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  7 років тому

      Hi. The video just shows a quick way to get a lot of points into AutoCAD: how you join them is up to you. I suggest that you use object snaps, though, and make sure "node" is turned on. If you want to use a polyline to join them, it might be worth considering the use of a 3-dimensional polyline, which is started by entering "3dpoly" on the command line.
