Interesting scenario! I was the Lockheed Weapons and Avionics Field Engineer assigned to the 416th TFS / 37th TFW (F-117) deployed to King Khalid RSAFB (Khamis Mushayt) during Desert Storm. Went to work for Lockheed in Jun 1980 after 7 years in the USN at NAS Moffett Field. I left VP9 (Active Duty) as an AX2 and VP-91 in 1983 (Naval Reserves) as an AX1. Transferred to the Skunkworks in 1986 on to the F117 program, and then the fun began.
@@Jarhead1086 There is still some areas that are classified, mostly it is the ways, processes, and methods that make the materials, components, and assemblies radar dampening, that tech is the same as what is currently in use.
I did this mission a couple weeks ago. It took every B-52, about 20 sorties of A7, and A6's to finally destroy the Airbase. You would think that 5 B-52s would have been overkill. NOPE. Again the Devs need to dumb down export model planes like the Iranian F4 and F-14.
for sites you need to kill most of their assest in them to "destroy" them, and most of the time AI don't know which assest is destroyed and you can't manual select them, so you will end up having the same "launcher" bombed again and again and deal near no damage. SEAD will NOT target radar but empty ground inside the site. Ground attack is bugged as hell, planes mostly refuse to drop bombs and too dumb to set up for a good drop. And SAM launchers can still fire missiles without their radar suits. Don't know what the devs are doing with this game it's bugged to unplayable. You can't even do IRL SEAD runs like taking out one of their search/FC radar and the whole site is trashed.
@@josh_jc_cheng Well hopefully they are working on all this. I know when Devs do a Sim type game they go for realism. I think the package is there, just needs alot more TLC and Country specific units etc. It will get there but probably not until mid 2025
A quick note om the RA-5C. I believe you are flying them in too low, and that is contributing to a higher loss rate than should be expected. A normal recon flight for the RA-5 would be conducted at 7-8,000 feet, and if needed they could conduct high-altitude recon if weather permitted. It also didn't need to fly directly over the target, as its oblique cameras could capture images from other angles.
During the game when you were trying shoot the Tomahawk Cs at the Gecko my guess is it wouldn't let you shoot at them because it is a mobile unit. I would bet its a game mechanic where you can only shoot at static targets like airfields/buildings with Tomahawk Cs. Even though the Gecko was not moving at the time and in reality you would have been able to shoot at it as it is a set of coordinates you are shooting at I would bet that is why the game would not let you shoot the Tomahawks.
MIGs didn’t get lucky. Haven’t had time to play mission through but I’ve played the start about three times now trying to get the hang of managing planes. MIGs always get one or two Tomcats. Their missiles are consistently more accurate than the Phoenixes. Tomcats don’t seem to do much evasion.
Playing this vs Command Modern Operations.... Only nice thing is the graphics..... I prefer the more realistic scenarios of Command.... Plus the ability to setup the ships in various configs..... But this game is a lot like Janes Fleet Command.... Plus they don't have CVN-65 Big-E in this yet.... So no fun lol .... Can't bet having Enterprise, Midway, Coral Sea with Bainbridge and Long Beach and New Jersey as the ultimate battle group.
Glad you enjoyed the mission!

I am impressed with the progress so far but the bots needs serious work.
Only a few passenger business jet aircraft operate at 600+ knots and only at very high altitudes.
