It's really funny and honestly kind of sweet seeing so many people dive headfirst into a genre they have little to no familiarity with because they just love Rayman that much~

It's pretty cool. it shows how much people enjoy Rayman to the point they'd try something new

To answer some questions, Mario and company appear in the ending screen, being gifted Rayman’s jacket as a gift for helping them on their adventure, and Rayman is gifted a handmade Mario hat (Rayman Legends reference) by his Rabbid comrades as well. Your Rabbid Allies, as well as the villain of the DLC, were created by a freak accident of merging Rabbids with generic objects and Mario props and turning them into proper characters, which get further distinguished going from Kingdom Battle to Sparks of Hope. Rayman also doesn’t have a punching ability in combat, presumably, because melee attacks were removed for the sequel and that it would be strange to suddenly place a limit on how many punches Rayman can do per turn, for gameplay restrictions, when he can do it at infinitum in the hub world. Furthermore, Rayman’s punch is used more for puzzle-solving and opening doors than it is damaging enemies. Dashing into enemies as Rayman to incite a battle gives essentially the same effect.
I think every DLC expansion for this game has a text prompt before you start your first save with “Make sure you know how the main game works!”, but doesn’t force you to play the main game at all. This is easily one of the most complex and busy Mario RPGs out there, and as someone who’s 100%’d the first game and it’s DLC, and this game and all of it’s DLC, it’s definitely underrated. I haven’t played a lot of other games in this exact genre, but I’m certainly interested in doing so.
Did you ever play the free demo for this game on the Switch’s eShop? The game doesn’t tutorialize things that heavily in the opening bits, and it might give you some more confidence if you’d ever want to make this more than a one-time thing.
Love your videos, man. Best of luck!

Fun fact: Rayman Legends' first release date was August 29th, 2013 and this DLC came out August 30th, 2023. It's been exactly 10 years since he's been in anything new besides mobile games. :')

@@leomartz33 Considering UBISOFT games are 99% Microtransation and openworld garbage; I don't even think I want to see their version of a Rayman game. We can only hope they would give it to a studio like Toys For Bob.

I find it so weird that of all the games, the one that has consistently been punching way above its weight is the damn Mario x Rabbids game. Everyone wrote it off as a joke and it keeps coming back.

    Judging by the end...
Maybe give the base game a quick playthrough to at least learn a bit more and understand it and the world better.
And if you want to know the lore/story reason why Rabbids are in the Mario world, just watch the opening cutscenes of the first game.

To be fair, the game did tell you to play the base game first so you know what you're doing. (Even if you don't beat the game, maybe you could have played just a little bit of the main game to understand the mechanics. At least the early tutorial probably would have been good enough.) Don't forget to click on the left joystick (I think?) to use Beep-0's tacticam. It will help you understand the enemy abilities. (I know you don't want to read anything, but that's kind of required in this tactical game in order to understand what the heck you're doing, lol.) It's typically good to check out what enemies are on the field first so you can go back to the Sparks menu and adjust for which elemental effects you'll need in the battle.
Some tips: Make sure to stand behind the covers to keep yourself from getting hit. Being in the open is a death sentence, for the most part. If you shoot your main weapon, you won't be able to move anymore. You can put down Rayman's turrets near enemies and then dash into them to make them shoot right away. The reason you were wet was because you were afflicted with an elemental effect. Water effect makes you bounce backwards, so make sure you're not near the edges if you don't want to fall out of bounds. Each enemy typically has 1 elemental effect they are resistant to and 1 they are weak to. Bosses are an exception, being resistant to almost everything (but they are typically NOT resistant to vampire based attacks). Bosses are also too big to dash.
I agree that I would have liked to see Rayman punching during battles. However, in this game it's usually better to have a longer range (except for Rabbid Mario who offsets the short range with very high damage and a wide field of attack). And since most of the characters have some type of gun or canon or whatever, they probably decided to give Rayman the plunger gun as an homage to the Rayman Raving Rabbids games. (I think they maybe could have incorporated the golden gloves from Rayman 2 or something, but I don't mind using the plunger gun since those shooting levels from the Rabbids games were super fun, lol.)
Also, the reason you can't jump around in the game very much is because WAY back when the first game was being made, Miyamoto himself asked the team to make a Mario game where you aren't jumping around (because otherwise you might as well play a normal Mario game, at least I think that's the logic behind it). Basically, I think he wanted it to be very different from a mainline Mario game and to make the game it's own unique thing. However, I do appreciate how they added the jump panels to the overworld for this DLC just for Rayman, because those weren't in the overworld for the base game at all! (At least as far as I can remember...)
If you're confused about the Mario + Rabbids story/lore, you could just go on UA-cam and watch all the cutscenes from the 1st game and even this 2nd game if you don't plan on beating the base game. Basically, the Rabbids used their time traveling washing machine and arrived in the home of a genius girl who was also a big Mario fan. She created a device that can merge 2 things together to create something new. When one of the Rabbids was playing with the device, he ended up merging the Rabbids with various Mario merch she had in her room (which is why we have Rabbid Mario & Rabbid Peach). Then the Rabbid ends up using the merging device on the washing machine, which sucked up various objects in the room (including the Rabbids).
The last thing to get sucked in was a poster of Mario & friends in the Mushroom Kingdom, so the Rabbids got merged with Mario's world as a result. Beep-0 was also an assistant A.I. for her and ended up getting sucked into the washing machine in the process, so now he's also stranded in the Mushroom Kingdom just like the Rabbids. But Beep-0, the Mario variant merged Rabbids, and Mario & friends all worked together to defeat an evil glitch and became friends along the way. Now Beep-0 and the Rabbids live happily in the Mushroom Kingdom. (Also, the Rabbids seemed to have calmed down quite a bit here in the Mushroom Kingdom compared to how crazy and feral they were when they first met Rayman. I guess nice guy Mario just has that effect on you, lol.)

Assuming you don't go ahead and complete the DLC...
Look up the final boss for the cutscenes with it alone.
You'll get a chuckle as well as a bit of a gut-punch from them.

I can't really call myself a Rayman "fan" as I've not played any of the games except a little bit of the first one back on PS1, but I've always really liked the artstyle and something about the gameplay in that game just puts me in my comfort zone even though I'm not really good at it.
Honestly if there's anything that would make more sense for Rayman to cross over with it would probably be Crash Bandicoot. They both exist in these sort of Warner Bros inspired unhinged and zany worlds in which insane cartoon shenanigans seem to be the norm.

Crossing with Crash would be cool. I'd also want to see him with Kirby.
Heck, I'd love to see him with Plok(Plok is rather criminally forgotten and underrated) because they both can throw their hands and feet only Plok has limbs, and Punky Skunk, another criminally forgotten and underrated franchise) as I love these franchises. I have fics on them but it would never happen because they're forgotten franchises. 😢 And Crash and Kirby are slim chances.
      But one can dream.😊

Game Devs are really trying to ruin childhoods. That’s Spyro, Crash AND Rayman pulled out of their 3D hiatuses to be pimped across to other IPs to lend them credibility. Sad. Hopefully means we get something that is really Rayman soon like Spyro and Crash though
