Agree, just look at names of people he submited : Benson Henderson, Charles Oliveira, Michael Chiesa. All of them BJJ black belts high level grapplers. If I'm correct Oliveira has the most submission wins in UFC history, that tells a lot.

Pettis is the most overlooked fighter. Former UFC and WEC champion. First guy to TKO cowboy, first guy and only guy to finish Gilbert Melendez (black belt jiu jitsu) by submission, submitted Charles Oliveira (black belt jiu jitsu and the most submission wins in UFC history), first guy to finish Wonderboy (who's never been ko'd in 79 fights), the guy who handed beny heny two title losses in spectacular fashion AND the second one by submission and Bendo is a black belt Jiu jitsu. UNDERRATED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

Pettis sub game is crazy slick for a kid who came up in karate and got to grappling late. It’s really amazing it shows the type of athlete he is in a sense like GSP with his wrestling not growing up a wrestler. Pettis subbed Melendez in his prime in a title defense. Melendez has fought the best for a long time, grappling is his strong suit and that was the only time he has ever been subbed. He subbed Henderson for the belt also a phenomenal athlete a champ who has fought the best for over a decade and a great wrestler and grappler who has been subbed twice ever! Once by Pettis and once his third fight in 2007 when he was very green. Also some notable subs of his are Olivera a black belt and Chiesa a nasty grappler whose like a snake and only been subbed three times ever by Pettis, Jorge, and Kevin Lee which is a list of savages. Pettis has only ever been subbed once by Poirer in a crazy war which really says something about Dustin’s game beings he has subbed Pettis and Holloway which was the only time Holloway was ever subbed lol. Dustin has only ever been subbed once by the Korean zombie in a vicious D’Arce choke. Your Welcome for the free history lesson!

Anthony Pettis became showtime & forgot he doesn’t always have to get in a brawl. But we diehard fans love him for it. I just wish he would take Duke & merge his camps with Trevor Whitman. I swear Whitman is the missing piece to so many guys careers. Till, Tyron Woodley, Cody Garbrandt, Corey Anderson, Mike Perry, Uriah Hall, Gusstafson . Anyone of the championship level guys who can’t seem to string wins together consistently & struggle mentally could use a lil Trevor Whitman.

You can tell the leg kicks affected Thompson, he moved back slowly for him and not skipping like he does. Smart gameplan. That’s what bazooka joe said to do when masvidal fought him, same thing bazooka joe did to Raymond Daniels in glory, take away the mobility. Didn’t notice that they affected him that much watching it live.
