MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 OF SHERLOCK.
After an unbearably long time away from vidding, I decided I'd had it and made this. I wanted to portray Sherlock's emotional development throughout the series and how it all came into perfect view in The Final Problem. Enjoy!

Marvellous. It's strange how many people, despite everything they'd seen in this show, actually think that Sherlock is a sociopath. Just because he says that. Mrs Hudson is right as always- he's more emotionalistic. And in season 4 he finally understands that it makes him stronger than Mycroft and Eurus.
This is why I have high hopes for the next season - to see how this realisation will affect his relationship with John and other people.
Yes me too. I hope so, so much that they'll make a season 5...

Małgorzata Kantor Actually sociopaths CAN feel emotion. They just have little to no empathy, and tend to be narcissists and control freaks. Their lack of empathy creates a difficulty forming healthy relationships. Being a sociopath does NOT make you a robot. On the contrary, sociopaths can be prone to emotional outbursts and tantrums. Sherlock never says emotion is a disadvantage, only sentiment. They are two different things. It also makes sense that Sherlock would be a sociopath because if his past trauma with Euros and Redbeard. Losing your best friend would definitely make a young Sherlock paranoid at the idea of future relationships. Sociopaths generally are caused by childhood trauma, while psychopaths are born genetically without empathy. Hence why Sherlock corrects Anderson when he is called a psychopath.

gotta disagree whit you mate sociopaths(aspd2) do not bond whit people like sherlock does whit watson mary etc. sociopaths dont lack cognitive empathy (understanding emptions) they lack affective empathy (feeling them) sherlock strugles to understand emptions of others which is closer to autistic spectrum and has grate inteligence also could refer to that. He has driven himself away from the "emotional context" not like a sociopath more like a machevillian/stoic and in s4 the emotions finaly catch up to him

Ooooooh this is so great !! I love the fact that you chose to emphasize emotions, Sherlock's in particular. I cried for the first minute. The man he is now is because of his childhood and this is so sad to hear everyone insulting him as a "machine", "bastard" etc when you know how sad his childhood was even though he behaves like a complete douchebag in the first episodes.

Even more sad because you realize Sherlock isn't a sociopath, it was his way of coping with his sister killing his best friend and he couldn't even remember that.

EURUS: No, no, Sherlock…
MORIARTY: I want to solve the problem…
EURUS: Emotional context, Sherlock. It destroys you, every time.
DONOVAN: ‘Cause he’s a psycopath.
SHERLOCK: I don’t have friends.
MYCROFT: So who loves you? I’m assuming it’s not a long list.
SHERLOCK: I’ve just got one.
EURUS: You don’t know about Redbeard yet.
MORIARTY: Our problem. The final problem.
SHERLOCK: Your life is not your own. Keep your hands off it.
MORIARTY: It’s gonna start very soon, Sherlock. The fall. But don’t be scared. Falling’s just like flying, except there’s a more permanent destination.
JOHN: Sherlock, there’s something you need to know.
MORIARTY: Of all people you should know that it’s not the fall, it’s never the fall.
EURUS: Emotional context.
MORIARTY: It’s the landing.
JOHN: Sod this, you stay here on your own.
SHERLOCK: Alone is what I have, alone protects me.
JOHN: No.
EURUS: And here it comes…
JOHN: Friends protect people.
SHERLOCK: Look at me, I’m afraid, John. Afraid. I’ve always been able to keep myself distant-
SHERLOCK: But sentiment…
JOHN: Why do you need to be alone?
SHERLOCK: Divorce myself from-
SHERLOCK: I’ve often explained before, all emotion is abhorrent to me.
SHERLOCK: -feelings.
SHERLOCK: It is the grit in a sensitive instrument,

SHERLOCK: But look, you see? Body’s betraying me.
EURUS: Now it’s coming.
EURUS: It’s time to solve the Musgrave Ritual.
MRS. HUDSON: He’s not about thinking…
EURUS: Your very first case…
MRS. HUDSON: not Sherlock.

Thank you so much! You're so sweet. :) I use Final Cut Pro X on a Mac computer, but if you have a PC, Sony Vegas Pro 14, 13, or 14 Edit work the same way! In my early days, I used iMovie (basic free editing software), but I quickly outgrew it. In my opinion, performance editing software was the best investment I ever made. :) Good luck!
