Adrienne makes a very good point about having a kid with someone being more permanent than getting their name tattooed and you, but people with 3-4 baby mommas and baby daddies are talking about I wouldn’t get someone’s name on me. Sometimes we are trained a certain way to think of something and can’t ever move beyond that. 😹
Once the child is of legal age, their other parent no longer needs to be a presence in your life if you choose not to, so it is not permanent.
@@winter_s_44 That’s a good point but then neither are these tattoos that can be removed much sooner than the 18 years it takes someone to come of age. Also, unless it’s a dysfunctional relationship, that’s a life long presence in each other’s lives- graduations, milestone birthday, weddings etc. In the case of dysfunctional, I would prefer to get 100 tattoos than do that to myself and a kid.

I went to Dunkin’ Donuts with my son. My niece walked in before us, she asked for a pink donut and the lady said they didn’t have that one. My son and I walked in after, didn’t hear the lady when she told me niece, he asked her for a pink donut in which she replied in a loud voice “I ALREADY SAID WE DONT HAVE THAT DOUNT” my son is autistic and it made him so nervous he couldn’t speak. I completely agree with Loni’s perspective on branding. Because I feel the same way. Many sex trafficking victims often have branding with their pimp’s name or a nickname - or they will tattoo symbols on their victims (a crown, a dollar sign, some will tattoo flowers on their girls, and I’ve even seen some that will tattoo a barcode) - signaling to other pimps that she’s his property, or someone from his “collection”, for lack of a better word. So for that reason, I have so much distain for couple tattoos, especially when it comes to tattooing a husband’s or boyfriend’s name on you. It just reminds me too much of branding. (Sex trafficking and branding is something to be very vigilant about, so definitely take notice of what people have tattooed on them, especially if they look like they might be “advertising for services.”)

People make too big of a deal about getting a name tattooed. I agree with Adrienne. Children are way more permanent than tattoos and children can’t be covered up. Tattoos are a fun and cute way to express yourself, I don’t see a problem with involving your love life with them as well.

Adrienne's hair texture is naturally curly therefore braids serve as more of a protective hair style, she's also Puerto Rican, many Puerto Ricans have African ancestry due to slavery and people mixing with each other, so it's not cultural appropriation, whereas Kim is Armenian American and her hair is not curly and she tends to take things from other cultures and make it "trendy" and she can come off as trying to look black whether that is her intention or not

My partner is terrified of needles like he dreads going to the doctor for blood work, etc. For his birthday a few years ago he wanted us to get tattoos which really shocked me because he has near panic attacks with needles. We got two small tattoos in our wrists - king & queen of hearts. That’s the only tattoo we both have. We we’re already together for five years when we got the tattoos. We’ve been together now for 8 years & 1 year married. Definitely not into name tattoos but this was just the most meaningful gesture that came from his heart, so it means a lot.

I personally would be more inclined to get a tattoo with my kids name on my body as opposed to my significant other, even if we have been married for 40+ years. I think in the event that I would want to get a tattoo of my significant other, I would much rather get some sort of symbol that reminds me of that person rather than outright getting their name on my body because I agree with Garcelle that to some extent it is taboo and you are jinxing your relationship if you put their name permanently on your body. I think the only time I made a public scene was when I needed to get a certain medical test done at the doctors. I had been waiting for months already, I was directed to the nurse who told me a GP had to do it. Came back the following week for the GP to try and tell me that the “head doctor” needed to do it and even though he was in, I’d have to come back. It was in the middle of my exam season so I burst into tears and telling them I’ve been waiting and keep being called back in, somebody needs to give me the RIGHT direction- the head GP came out (he’s known me since childhood) and told the doctor to just do it 👍🏼 I was embarassed but if I stayed quiet I would’ve never been seen😭
I say “scene” but really I cried so two doctors and the receptionists heard. Still that’s too many people for me😬

Absolutely not for the tatoo! Yes, it's her body so her decision....However, it's not smart. We hope marriage will be forever, but it doesn't always work out that way. I made a mini scene at work right at the moment I was getting my permanency. I regret it a little bit now coz looking bk I was young and didn't know how to let things slide and that little scene could have affected me becoming permanent. Lucky thing it didn't and after some contemplation I did apologise to my HOD for my behavior.
Me too it takes a lot for me to get mad. And I wouldn't get a tattoo of my boyfriend or husband. Maybe if I had kids I would get it. And adrienne is a little delusional if getting a tattoo of her husband is going to be different. She doesn't know that anything can happen.
