Thank you all so much for your support.
Long time watcher, first time commenter (because usually I'm watching through my TV haha), but had to come on and say, one thing you are NOT is bad at these games. Absolutely not! From what I can see, you are brilliant at these games, and I've used your videos as walkthroughs countless times because you're so knowledgeable of every game and level. So yeah, just had to say that! :)
Thank you for being a long time watcher of the channel! I always love seeing people comment for the first time and getting to know more viewers 😊 Thank you so much for your kind words 🥹 sometimes when I get a lot of bad comments over a short time, it can get to me, but I need to just remember that there’s a lot of people who enjoy the videos and that’s why I make them. It makes me really happy that the videos have been good walkthroughs for you 🥹❤️
I just want to say you do an amazing job this can be a very hard game to play and you also educate us on theese levels as well.
Thank you 🥹❤️
@@suzanneraider Your welcome
Hi, Suzanne. This was so nice the way you did the level. And get well soon. I loved it. Stay safe to you and your loved ones. 🌹
Thanks Rod 🥰
Raygun 🤣🤣 the analogy 😂I died hahah.. I am curious though.. what prompted you to name this video "becoming the TR?" ? Is it the killing?? It is a defining moment for sure but I don't think that's what makes Lara the Tomb Raider.. How very Crystal Dynamics of you 😅🤣 It's not like she is a vampire and that is the first time she drinks blood or sthng ( Also, please don't take this too seriously😘) (Also.. you have pulled some awesome stunts while gaming on camera and created many entertaining moments.. including falling compilations 😆what are people talking about? is one a good gamer only when they pull consecutive headshots on counterstrike or do speedruns etc? Everybody plays the way they like and feels good to them, that's what makes games awesome)
That Raygun glitch is hilarious 😂 I chose the title of the video because I thought that’s probably what Crystal were going for here, and I knew it would probably be the biggest talking point of the video in the comments. Not because I agree with it necessarily 😊 Thanks Elias 🥰 I would hope people realise by now that I’m not a speed runner or perfect gamer, they can watch other people for that 😅 I’m someone who loves games and stories and I enjoy lore diving too. It’s a different vibe on this channel 🥰❤️
Hi Suzanne! Sorry I haven't left a comment in a while, but just wanted to say hello again and I loved these anniversary playthroughs! Anniversary is one I never played myself as the disc I got for it didn't work 😢 I've really enjoyed watching you play them and I'm looking forward to the finale 😊 ❤️
I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed this playthrough and got to experience this game 🥰
Thank you for another great video, I hope you feel better soon. ❤ And I agree with you about the Larson cut scene I don’t love it, and maybe I am understanding the timelines wrong but is this game suppose to be before legend in the timeline then because she kills people in that game. And for the record I like how you play the games it feels real (also way better than I can play them 😂) and not just edited to be the best and perfect bits, which I prefer. Also I like that you give your honest opinion on games, we all have an opinion and we don’t have to agree, that is what creates good dialogue. Look forward to the next one!
As for timeline: Yes, this is the first in the trilogy that goes “Anniversary,” “Legend,” and “Underworld.”
@ thank you! I was so confused by that.
I don’t believe the game *needed* to show actual blood on Lara’s hands. I think the realization that her hands could take a life was enough of a shock without the need for literal “blood on her hands.”(I can’t help thinking that Lara herself actually liked/respected Larson, which contributed to her moment-and it *is* just a moment-of shock and sadness after his death.)
Thank you Samanatha, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰 Yes Anniversary takes place when Lara is 19 I believe, and then Legend and Anniversary are 10 years later when she is 29. Thank you so much! I always leave in my failures and funny moments because I think we can all relate to making mistakes and being frustrated when gaming 😂 I’ve never said I’m the best gamer and the channel for me is more about having fun, but I guess some people get annoyed that I’m
Not a perfect player 😂❤️
I would make a theme song from Shaft joke, but I doubt many would get it. 😂 My goodness, you are not a bad player, don't listen to the haters. It is very difficult to talk and play simultaneously, other UA-camrs have said so. And I personally love your style. Now for the elephant in the room. Yeah, I don't like it because it makes her look like a cold-blooded killer. It doesn't fit her character, but that's just my takeaway. It's nice they gave backstories (and names 😅) to the other henchmen, but man, I'm just not a fan of QTE boss fights 😅 oh well, onto the next video!
Haha the shaft joke will live forever on this channel now 😂😂😂 Thank you 🥹❤️ I like to think I’m an ok player, but I’m more into games for stories and lore, that’s what I love, and I think most people who watch my channel know that. I’m not a perfect speed runner or number 1 player 😂 And I like to think we have a lot of fun and laughs on here too 🥰 hate the QTE boss fights 😩 And in my opinion, building up to that scene negatively impacted the entire rest of the game, removing all boss fights basically 😭💔
Back in college they called me Marco Barshafti.
😂😂😂
I'd like to think before Larson encountered Lara, he told Kinkaid and Jerome that if she shows up before he does, then he's dead.
That’s a great point!
I really like this level of scene with her killing Larson this was her first time killing a human and that scene really gets me and killing him did hurt so much...💔
I heard somewhere that Lara looking at her hands is like a symbol to show the guilt of killing someone, therefore we actually see no blood on her hands.
I’m wondering if the literal blood is something of a TR myth. I don’t recall any mention of an alternate scene in any of the making-of materials that come with the A/L/U box set, including developer interviews. And, yes, the scene works perfectly as it is.
Hmm maybe it is a tomb raider myth? I could have sworn I read somewhere that she was supposed to have blood on her hands but they changed it 🤔 Either way, the scene works well to show her guilt and feeling like her hands are dirty. I always feel sad when she kills Larson here 💔
@@suzanneraider You're right. On Lara's hands, blood was supposed to appear. As a matter of fact, the 'Angel of Darkness' unlockable outift still has blood on Lara's hands. However, they removed the blood from the normal outfit in order not to increase the age rating.
3:40 this music gives me kinda Home Alone vibes 😂😂😂😂Lara is the new Kevin McCallister
28:52 yes SHE DID 😏😏😂 35:22 I think they didn't know about Larson's death Suzanne till Lara said that first, and then Natla's henchman just replied with that killer sentence "it's so good isn't it"
I liked Lara's human reaction after she killed Larson at the time, it was a nice touch😎 but it is strange they didn't show the blood on her hands even tho Anniversary was PEGI 16, I remember in a cutscene from Tomb Raider the Angel of Darkness she actually got blood on her hands and it was PEGI 12 🤨🤨
Yes! Super Home Alone vibes! Love it 😍 and you’re right, they probably realised Larson was dead from what Lara said. It is very powerful when she kills Larson, and super sad. I wish we’d seen the blood, it would have illustrated the point really well. I have no idea why they had to cut it out, it seems very silly 😞💔
Hi, Suzanne. No Part 13 unlucky for some. I hope you had fun playing this.. Onto the video. 👍
Good play through. Always liked this game. But miss the fight scenes. Have the original, a digital steam version and the playstation portable version. Have most games at least 2 or 3 times. Just watched the first Tomb Raider movie for the xx time. Still good. Thanks for this video. ❤
The lack of fight scenes is really sad in this game 💔 Oh I love the first Tomb Raider movie! Now I want to watch it again too 😍
Lara doing a Raygun is a sign of what we need to see from you. Bring on the dance!
🙈🙈🙈
33:09 If I’m not mistaken, (chronologically) this is Lara’s first ever shootout? Which is so amazing and intense. This cutscene has a bit of Matrix magic in it, with her dodging Kid’s gunfire by jumping in the air and running whilst also returning gunfire with her own guns.
Man, Lara’s best moments are by far her DARKEST SCENES.
When she kills Larson with a serious look on her face, the way she enters the Great Pyramid’s entrance guarded by Kold and Kid, and then walks towards Kold with a serious face whilst showing both of her guns as she’s walking towards him, and then she engages in a shootout against Kold and Kid, AND when she faces off against Natla in the final showdown.
Whenever she means business, becomes angry or enraged…her character becomes completely badass and unstoppable. 😍🔥
This is so true! This is her first shoot out in this timeline and a very cool defining moment for her 🥰 I love when Lara gets dark and badass too!
The rod-jumping puzzle at the end there has always been one of my favorites, if only because it utilized what I feel is the most under-used mechanic of this game. Something about the balancing act makes it feel exhilarating even if it’s far more controlled than it could have been.
I agree! That was actually a really fun puzzle and much more engaging than simply finding a key to open the door 🥰
Very entertaining playthrough, glitches and especially the character commentary! This is an interesting level for me to compare to the original. I give Anniversary a lot of credit for making the first half a true re-imagining. The geometry is quite different and so are some of the puzzles. Less back and forth backtracking too. But I feel like they skimped out after the lava ramp/hops room. No TNT to blow up, no skateboard park (silly in the original but I loved it!) and the cool golden maze that leads to the gold pyramid is mostly gone too. Although I do like the hops up the poles to open the pyramid doors.
As for the lack of fighting the henchmen, I understand not directly killing Larson and I sympathize with his character in this game, but at least they could've made the other two a decent boss battle. It always felt like a cop-out to me. But overall, I don't have too many huge problems with this level...I have quite a lot more venom for the next level though!! 😤
And to echo what some others have said, you are a badass with these games. Case-in-point, your epic NG+ playthroughs! Don't let the folks that say you can't play it good bring you down!
Totally agree! The start of this level is great and such an improvement, and I love the pyramid puzzle, but the removal of most of the level and QTE fights let the level down. I feel like they were rushing these last levels and they are in general a bit short and disappointing 💔 And thank you! 🥹 I know I’m
Not the best gamer in the world, but I don’t think everyone needs to be. I have so much fun playing games and I am all about the stories and also having fun with everyone 🥰
I think the Magnums were in the lava pit before the fight with Skaterboy and baldman, on a platform at the bottom of the pit, opposite side of the room from the relic.
Oh no! Can’t believe I missed them 😭💔
Well played Suzanne. Getting into that Pyramid was a tough one. Have you managed to get all the artifacts and relics so far. Looking forward to your last part. Steve ❤️
Thanks Steve 🥰 Yes I’ve managed to get all artifacts and relics 😊
Actually I loved this fight in the original. Sadly they removed the iconic" Are you firing at me? Are you firing at me? There is no one else here so you must be firing at me" which was actually a reference to the movie " The Taxi driver"
Yes the fight in the original was great 😍
Love the necklace 😍❤️
Don't apologize for not feeling well! You can't do anything about it. It's best to rest up and record once your spirits are up 😊
Omg 😂 Lara looks like she's imitating a monkey with that pose 😂
Thank you Prim 🥹❤️
Hi, Suzanne. Some people get sick more than other people and that is just the way it is. Get well soon 🤞 No its not the lottery its for you to get better.
Thank you ❤️🩹
great video. entertainment, funny and
13:23 i think your hair looks good, but there's nothing wrong with complaining 😆
14:20 😆 i am dying Suzanne!!! 😆 that's why I love the livestreams! entertainment is going through the roof !
i have the same thoughts and feelings about Larson and the "first kill" as you do
25:50 girl. you have to be honest! that's why we here! You may not like this game but that's your opinion, if people cannot process it, it's their fault. you are great at what you doing, not only playing good but also the knowledge you have on each TR game. I love this game, that's why it's funny for me that you don't like it 😆I think that you are much better TR player than 95% of us. also who is saying that? i need names!!!!
not the raygun 😆 speaking of break dancing... Suzanne? 😆
i prefer this version of this level than the Og one. I feel like this one is much more calmer and easy than in TR 96
Thank you 🥹❤️ love all your comments here! 😂 I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed this playthrough and you love Anniversary! I was worried I’d been too harsh on it for those who like it, but it’s good that you can love this game but enjoy my playthrough with all my suffering and complaints 😅❤️
I agree. It’s difficult to play and talk at the same time. I know, I’ve tried it, and was always quiet because I’m concentrating on playing the game. It can be tricky to do both, especially with the added pressure of recording the footage. So I definitely don’t think you’re bad at games - in fact, quite the opposite! 😊
Thank you, you’re too kind 🥹❤️ It felt very difficult at first to talk and play at the same time, but the more you do it the easier it starts to feel, although your attention will always be somewhat divided and never perfectly on the game 💔
@@suzanneraiderYes, time and again I’ve seen gaming youtubers tending to talk very little when they’re starting out, but eventually it seems to become easier to them. Even the most talkative were rather quiet when they began - one famous UK Fortnite youtuber certainly springs to mind 😃
Hi, Suzanne. They knew they where pure because they looked. And I can't say any more on UA-cam.
Oh goodness 🙊 but we all know now that this is not a reliable way to tell either. The poor women back then 💔
I remember playing this level to death to get everything. The Larson QTE scene was always a complete miss for me as well.
The blood was most certainly removed from there due to censorship and age rating problems. It's something a lot of games run in to... In some cases, game devs have to turn blood into a different colour to bypass censorship due to strict laws.
The climbing softlock! Yeah, I remember that happening to me too, funny stuff.
The henchmen in this game really are the most dysfunctional henchan group ever, aren't they? Kin Kaid really wore his plot armor well there to stand up to all those direct pistol hits, up until getting shot in the back.
Ignore the people leaving mean comments - I meant to post this on the last video in response to someone's comment there, but didn't want to make a stir. But seriously, streamer/YTer blindness is real, and it's because of the task saturation. It's easy for someone sat watching to take the piss because all they see is the person playing games with a camera pointed at them. But on the content creator's side, there's playing the game, talking fluidly, coming up with entertaining points/comments to talk about, the camera being pointed at them and making sure that stays in place, lighting, making sure all the recording and sound is still working as it should be and is in sync, leaving cues for editing where possible, and that's on top of everything else that may be going on in their lives that we don't see. It's a lot of things to keep track of. (People employed in roles prone to task saturation like airline pilots get specific training to manage it, but UA-camrs don't get that luxury.)
But the people leaving such comments will usually refuse to understand or comprehend this, because saying mean things while hiding behind a username on the Internet to try put people down is where they get off, because they never learned "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all" or ever learned what "constructive criticism" really is - For the records, in case someone reading isn't sure, being mean is not constructive in the slightest.
I had a feeling the blood was removed due to censorship. I think the blood on her hands would have been really powerful in that scene, but I do wish they’d allowed us to actually fight Larson, Kold and The Kid 😩💔 and yes, there is so much that’s very silly about the Kold and The Kid scene 😂 Why is he immune to pistol shots but SMGs will take him out? 😂🙈
Thank you so much! This is so kind of you to say 🥹 There is so much going on when you’re recording and playing at the same time, not to mention when I do Tomb Raider, I have a notebook beside me and need to remember when in the level I want to talk about certain things and do story explanations. I enjoy it a lot, but my mind is never 100% on the game when I’m recording. I guess some people just like to be negative. Some of the comments I get are wild, and I always think if the way I play or talk etc annoys people so much, then why are they watching? 😅 I just do my best and share my love of gaming. And I love what you said. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Some of the best things I’ve learnt have come from constructive criticism. But being mean and trying to tear someone down or ruin their confidence is never constructive ❤️❤️❤️
So THAT's how you're supposed to properly get the blue fuse? Gosh, I've always had trouble getting down there the complicated way from the green fuse...
Also, I don't think Kold and the Kid knew Larson was dead, but I see Lara's line as her making them understand at that precise moment that she got rid of him.
The complicated way is awful! I hadn’t realised the first time I played that the handy tunnel was right there 😂🙈 Yes you’re right, they probably took what she said to mean she’d killed Larson!
Personally, I can excuse not having Larson himself as a boss fight just to keep the emotional part of the scene without too much chaos. BUT Kid and Kold should have and would have been a great place to actually put a boss fight for us to play, since we've already established that Lara is a killer now. Now, I don't want to be too unrealistic in how much extra gameplay I would have wanted for said boss fight. But I think they definitely could have done a bare minimum and re-used a lot of behaviours from previous enemies to make an extra boss fight.
In the cutscene, Kold mostly just attacks like the rest of the animals in the game (or like Rutland from Legend) so even though it might be the same-old headshot mechanic, they really could have just slapped that on him and called it a day. Meanwhile the Kid is just another gunman, so just giving him the same behaviour as the enemies from Legend should have been doable.
What could make the fight really creative however is if you needed to use the two against each other. Whether by making Kid shoot Kold in the fight, or by making Kold charge into Kid on accident. It would be totally on-brand with how the other bosses in the game already work, and plays perfectly into the cutscene where ultimately the two men kill each other. Oh well.
I totally agree! We could have forgiven the Larson QTE if we then got to test out our new people-killing skills on Kold and The Kid. It’s such a shame that that was a lazy cutscene and QTEs 😩 I love your idea for the fight! Having to trick them into attacking each other would be great! 😍
Hi, Suzanne. They Know Larson is dead because Lara is there in front of them. And he was going to kill her. So he must be dead.
Good point!
I have mixed opinions on this level. On one side the opening section was fleshed, one of those moments where Anniversary took advantage of the new generation of technology and expanded where TR1 couldn't reach and opening the pyramid itself, despite looking a bit cartoonish brings some new platforming (but with quite a lot of magnetic landing BS mechanic). But on the other hand I have the impression that they missed the point of the original Natla's Mines. First of all, the rats: I mean... can't Lara just kick them or step on them?? In TR1 the Cowbow was that menacing presence that if Lara wasn't cautious she would be facing completelly defenceless a hard punching foe and here it's just a rat. Then there's this "Lara shot and killed for the first time". If Lara goes around the world with twin pistols what was she expecting? If animals were the only menace she would encounter then a hunting shotgun or even a lethargy dards gun. This would have worked perfectly in TR2013 where she was "forced" to kill, but not when she chooses to carry the guns in the first place. And also in Legends she just kills dozens of human mercenaries so I don't get why they took this approach. And finally the three dumb subbosses. At first giving them more background seems a good idea for us to root for them but I have to differ. They are barely in the game for that backstory to pay off and narrativelly are quite pointless. In my opinion this is a good example of "less is more". In TR1 were barelly knew anything of them but we didn't need it anyways. Their only role was to serve as narrative steps while Lara was getting back to full strength. Here Larson and Lara have this half-baked attraction but the fact that he dies in a pseudo-cutscene doesn't give the feeling that Lara is fighting back to recover and since he appears at a specific point rather that always being there near a fuse doesn't give that feeling of vulnerability the the Cowboy did. And then the other two, despite having a cool backstory, remove the rest of the comming back and kill each other. The game also doubled down in the "Lara doesn't kill humans" by loosing the fistfight against the Bald man.
Overall the gameplay is quite nice but what made it so special in TR1 was the unique narrative and unfortunatelly it's completelly lost here.
I completely agree with this! The sense of danger is completely removed here with the removal of the cowboy enemy. And I’m not a fan of turning killing Larson and the others into QTEs. But I do like the pyramid puzzle a lot! 🥰 That’s a fair point about Kold and The Kid’s backstories! It took me researching it to understand what happened, and that’s not really good story telling for characters that only have two scenes in the game 😅
R.I.P ME {Little Rock, Arkansas 1967 - Natla's Mines 1996} *all he wanted was some attention*
23:13 you know it Suzanne ;} I will see you in Chronicles.
RIP Larson! Can’t wait to see you next month in Rome 😂
Yes, you tell those complainers off! As long as you have fun playing, it's all that matters 😃
P.S. You are definitely not horrorfying!
Thank you 😂❤️
Natla is of Atlantian descent since the Continent is gone this means the Atlantian race is extinct If you have any info about who the Atlantian people were and what they got please share
I couldn’t find any info on this, I would love to know more about the Atlantean race, but we’ve never been told more than this 😞💔
You guys really don’t understand how significant this level is; in this Level, (chronologically) Lara takes her first ever HUMAN LIFE. And the nature of why she did that is what’s so significant; by shooting and killing Larson in cold blood, she revealed the true nature of her character in THAT MOMENT.
Whilst having the best of intentions, her motivations and desires are clearly driven solely by her selfish compulsions. She realised in that moment the lengths that she has gone to in order to obtain the Scion, solely to clear her father’s name. Whilst it can be argued that Larson didn’t have a choice, Lara clearly killed him to just spite him. He really didn’t want to kill her, but by the end, he was clearly fighting for his life. That’s why she looks shocked when she glances at her hands; Larson’s blood is on HER HANDS. And even during putting the Blue fuse back into her backpack, she clearly shows remorse for Larson’s death. It’s not the goal of clearing her father’s name that’s the issue, it’s the MEANS of which she goes to clear his name.
Let it be said that it’s the cutscene of Larson’s murder that shows the exact moment Lara loses her innocence. Just what lengths will she go to for the purpose of fulfilling her father’s goal and clearing his name by obtaining the Scion? Taking lives? Committing senseless chaos and destruction? Losing herself? Richard would be so disappointed in his daughter if he’d be seeing who she has become. Her moral code is brought into question during (and after) Larson’s death. And that’s exactly one of the many reasons why this level (and game) is significant in the LAU storyline.
This is a really cool interpretation 🥰
First of all your hair looks fantastic always does ❤, the live streams are always fun and hilarious especially when Frederick came in drunk 😂😂 and slowly pushed you chair aside.
The whole virgin has always made me think it's dumb as shit! Mega stupid and is overused in everything it's it's down right annoying
Thank you Dil! Haha that live stream was so chaotic and funny 😅❤️ Yes I agree, the whole idea around all that is very silly 😩
25:35 Oh Suzanne! The Magnums were right under your nose! (And there was a pickup on the platform right above the grapple ring!) 😂😩
Oh no 😅💔
I’m amazed that CD managed to make a completely grey level look even more dull than the original! On the whole though, removing all the ludicrous backtracking from the opening segment is obviously a huge plus. Removing the entire middle section of the level, though… did they even want to make this game?!
Good to see the shaft shenanigans making a reappearance.
Virgins… I suppose the idea comes from religion’s idea that virgins are pure and good, so sacrificing them is especially bad.
As for all the boss fights, Larson stuff… well, I have nothing good to see once again, haha. It’s just updating it for a different generation of gaming, which can be really awkward when it’s in a remake. If it was an original game, I’d still not like it, but it wouldn’t bother me, but having such a bond with the original, it just feels like vandalism. That said, skater boi and bald guy killing each other just takes more away from Lara’s independence and strength.
And you’re not a bad gamer! You’re not a super speedrunner or something but you’re good!
Yes the backtracking removal is great, but my goodness these last levels are short! I personally do get the feeling that they rushed the end of this game, and it’s a real shame 😞💔 I agree! It’s not a bad game, but when we’re comparing it to the original, it’s impossible not to notice its short comings. And thank you! 🥹I’m an ok gamer I think, but for me it’s about the stories and the lore and enjoying the experience and having fun. There are plenty of other channels that do perfect speed runs if that’s what anyone wants to watch ❤️
Suzanne I wish Larson was alive to continue chasing Lara it would be more interesting I didn't like this scene😔 you looked very pretty with the necklace around your neck suzanne😍
Same! I wish Larson had been kept alive and he and Lara had worked together or something, I enjoyed their rapport! And thank you Hugo 😊
Man, all these years later, the cutscene of Larson’s death still gets to me. Lara really does reveal the true nature of character by killing Larson in cold blood. I really think both of them wished it didn’t have to come to this, and Lara really didn’t want to kill him. Such a heartbreaking cutscene that I still love and watch to this day. ❤️
I agree, this cutscene always makes me sad and makes me feel bad for Larson. I think they could have been friends or worked together if things had gone differently 💔
Just out of curiosity, could you go into detail how old Lara is during the LAU games? I’ve always thought she was 9 at the start of Legend, 29 during Legend and Underworld, and 18-21 in Anniversary because of her babyface.
I don’t think the ages are ever specified, or at least I couldn’t find them, and the timeline is a bit weird because they keep Anniversary set in 1996, which messes up how it fits with legend and Underworld. But in the original 1996 TR1 she’s 28. I’ve looked at her birth dates, and classic Lara was born in 1968, and Legend Lara was born in 1977.
So if we go by 1977, that means she’s 9 at the start of legend, 19 in Anniversary, and that would make her 29 in legend ❤️
I remember that “fight”. Larson was just sacrificed for a stupid QTE. But to be fair, killing the helicopter pilot at the end of TR3 wasn't any better. 👎
And thank God that .45 ACP from a MAC-10 have a much higher penetration than from a 1911, otherwise Scaterboi would not have been able to kill Kold. 🤣🤣🤣
Yes it’s such a shame all of these fights are merely QTEs now 😩💔
Saz.. One could just lesion to the music ❤😊..
The music is amazing 😍
Can't wait for Tomb Raiider 2013
