    In this arrow building 101 video we look at how to build your own arrows for compound bows, and specifically how to build your own carbon arrows and the arrow building parts you'll need to get started. Carbon arrow building is an easy process if you take it one step at a time and have a few arrow building parts. In this arrow making tutorial video I am building heavy arrows and show you how to build your own arrows start to finish in the following steps:
    1) How to square arrows
    2) How to install hit inserts (similar process for installing arrow inserts for most arrows)
    3) How to install arrow footers
    4) How to fletch arrows
    If you've even wondered how to build your own arrows, but never felt like you could quite jump into it, follow these steps in how to build carbon arrows and you'll be able customize your arrows to whatever weight, FOC, fletchings etc you want.

    You are awesome man!!! So happy I found this video, I’m actually thinking about starting to build my own arrows. I’ve only been into archery 3 years, and I’m hooked! How are those aae vanes? And I’ve always shot 3 vane, what’s the benefits with 4? Thanks again brother and have a Merry Christmas!

      Thanks so much for the kind words and thank you for watching! Congrats on getting in to archery and starting down the path of building your own arrows. It's a ton of fun!
      I also shot 3 fletch for a long time, but once I went to a higher FOC arrow like this build, the 4 fletch helps stabilize the arrow a bit better and give you better flight. Just depends on the setup though as to whether or not you need to go to a 4 fletch. I really like those AAE Pro Max Vanes on a 4 fletch because they are super light weight and low profile, so they don't add extra weight to the back of the arrow (where you don't want extra weight) over a 3 fletch blazer vane, but add stability because of the extra vane. Feel free to reach out via email as well backwoodspursuit.info@gmail.com. Happy to help! Check out the other archery hear "how to" videos here on the channel as well, and we'll keep adding more all the time! Thanks again for following the channel!

    what some people do is take a sharpie and mark both ends on the shaft, when your arrow is squared, the arrow shaft shouldn't have that sharpie on the ends of the carbon.

    Is there any specific reason why you went with the HIT inserts rather than the Black Eagle FOCOS system? I'm looking at getting some Rampage arrows this year myself and I'm interested in your thoughts.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  4 роки тому +1

      That's a great question @Mike Strong! When I put together this setup, the FOCUS system wasn't yet released for the Rampage shaft, so it wasn't an option. I'm curious about the FOCUS system and maybe I'll order some and test them out. Looks like the build would be nearly identical in weight etc as this one. I really like the HIT insert with this footer, but always open to testing/trying something new!

    Make sure to keep acetone away from your nocks and label! Those will be eaten up by your choice of cleaner!

    Is this much cheaper than buying your arrows premade?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  2 роки тому

      No necessarily, and it can even be more expensive depending on what components you choose. However, it gives you more ability to dial in the exact weight, FOC etc that you want.

    how would you suggest to unclog aae max bond?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому

      When you say unclog do you mean the bottle? I've used a drill with a small bit and drilled it out to clear the nozzle.

    Is the footer a must?
    Are inserting weights necessary? Thanks in advance.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Great questions. No, the extra weights and the footer are not necessary, but the footer adds to the strength of the arrow(the point just past where the insert ends inside the shaft is typically where arrows break) and the extra weight gives you more FOC. Don't need either though. Just depends on what kind of arrow you are trying to build.

  • @patrickjr3882
    @patrickjr3882 4 роки тому +1

    Also, how is that footer? Does it get stuck into targets ?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  4 роки тому +1

      That footer is awesome! You can't see it in the video, but it's actually tapered on the back end(closest to the vanes), so they slide right out of every target I've shot them into.

    What grain broadhead do you shoot, and what's the total arrow weight?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому

      I shoot a 125gr, and I believe the total arrow weight on that build was about 500gr. I have since gone to a heavier 585gr setup though. Thanks for watching!
