I'm a 63 yo lady! I've just started my first walking stick and I'm so excited!! No idea what I'm doing but it's my hearts desire. I love it! Always have loved whittling, etc. Dad and brother made so many things.. they've gone to heaven. Thank you for this video! And the encouragement!! God bless you all! ❤
You're the most Canadian person I've ever seen lol I was commissioned to make a walking stick for someone, which was way out of my norm. I hope mine turns out as good as this. Thanks for the tip to use an angle grinder at the start. I wouldn't have thought of that.
When you said it is "Common sense" but some people may have no clue. I am one never having done woodwork. I go to an auction and they always have tools very cheap. Bought a nice Dremel for $20 got 2 now - and Jigsaws, grinders, chopsaws. I am excited to try some of your projects. Thanks so much for these tutorials.
😁I’m a 58 yr old lady & have loved carving all kinds of walking sticks for years! So much fun & so many things you can do.. this channel has so many great ideas I haven’t thought of yet .. have fun!!
Nice work. I have done woodworking most of my working life, but I've never made a walking stick. You definitely made it look easy, and I say work smart, not hard.
This is the first video of yours I have ever seen. I loved watching how fun and simple you made this look. I am going to go to your page and watch a few more of you making wonderful creations.
Jody is awesome I have watched a lot of wood carving that he has done great job he got me into wood carving just by watching his videos very informative keep up the good work Jordy
Interesting. I've made canes for a bunch of years, but no walking stick; but been planning on making one, but will use a 2x4. I would never make one like you did, but what the Hell, that is for you and you seem quite pleased with it - which is what counts. Nice work.
Great idea using the grinder to cut the prep time Great ideas on the hand grip Jordy 💡 👍 The burning of the cracks is a fantastic idea as I've collect some sticks for walking sticks and thought they were useless because of the cracks I did one years ago when I found your channel but after watching this I want to attack it and redo it I'm not sure about your new style bit I think you have to have alot of carving experience to use it in a delicate carve A simple carve for you and still looks amazing Love it Thanks Jordy 😊
You make it look effortless I tried this morning on some pine 3x2 just a simple mini tiki face but wasn’t as easy or as quick as I thought Id like to send you pics of my first attempts.
I love doing walking sticks half way through one now like the look of yours I buy shovel handles from the hardware store and use them not to much free wood where I live 👍
Jordy I have made walking sticks with just a knife...BUT after following you for a while now, I need some tools. I especially love what you do with a Dremel and now I am on the hunt for a used one. Thanks so much for this video, in particular, I am going to give it a go. I have a dozen sticks still with the bark on but now I know I HAVE BEEN PICKING THE WRONG SIZED STICK and gotta try the way YOU CARVE OUT A HANDLE AND TOPPED OFF WITH THE "WOOD SPIRIT".
Nice Jordy !!! The cracks look cool but if you're selling it people say ohhh man the cracks weakin the wood ,,lol but if they want it they want it if not oh well
Sweet stick man👍 I've carved a few but it takes me a lot longer than you with your fancy pants two working hands , I walk with a stick because of my left side weakness I find that a bigger stick like the one you just carved is much better because when you're out walking and stop to take in the wild life or whatever you can rest your chin on the top .
How do you think that would hold up to giving someone...uh I mean something a good whack! Do you think it would break? Thinking of making one for walks through the park trails.
Good timeing on the video.. Picked up a nice driftwood stick beachcombing the other day. Alot of great tips and an awesome job as usual. Thanks buddy for everything you do!

I wish you could see some of the Spiral walking sticks that I have they're natural spirals done by Nature she does a fantastic job. if you don't know how to find them I'm going to tell you the edge of clearings where honeysuckles grow that's the best place to find a natural spiral in a walking stick you can even find them larger with the spiral on them that make good ornamental posts or banisters anything you want to use them for cuz they're in all sizes just a little tip. thanks for your video I'm getting me one of those Dremel Cutters like that that's excellent I've never seen them
Around my neck of the woods is an invasive bush called honeysuckle that I’ve found to make excellent walking sticks with little effort, you just need to find a straight one cut it green let it dry in a jig to keep it straight for about six months. Leave them outside out of the sun with the bark on, these sticks are hard lightweight but very sturdy. By the way how do you heat your shop... work faster?
I was making a short spear handle out of walnut and 3 pieces exotic wood I've had for 30 years and after sanding, my skin broke out with rashes. Some wood dust is real toxic. FYI. Nice dust mask you have.
If I could RATE your wood carving videos a 10/10 would be tooooo low!! Jordy can you you do a video on how you came across doing the 'WOOD SPIRIT" and what made you continue with this concept in many of your wood projects including your amazing BIRD HOUSES?

Great carve jordy what a time saving idea with the grinder .have a quick question have you ever carved cherry wood I just got a small pice Carry on good sir
Hey Jordy ya might’ve just given me an idea about a problem I’ve been having; I’m lookin to get away from sitting there forever carving away 2.5 inches of top layer of hard wood on a relief carving with an extreme burr. Takes frickin forever and those dang cutting wheels just scare me too much. Would that mampa cutter maybe fit the bill?

No this one wouldn't break ,,choose a hardwood
What talent you have . Super duper job , I'd love to be able to buy one from you.

I use a machete to take the bark off, works great as long as its sharp lol
Magic to watch, gonna give it a go.
I bet you were hell on wheels in your younger years !!! Great ideas for beginners , some folks just need to know where to start

I think you should put a nice natural small rock in the top of the stick ,above the wood spirit head and face. It'd look cool. What you think?(Robin)
