I like these old houses. These two will be a real challenge with lots of labor. I know between the crew and the homeowners they will come back to life.
Man it must take a lot of will power to buy a house like those but with TOH there I'm sure everything will be done just right..but still... those houses need so much work
Memories... Thank you TOH! My family flew to the Caribbean in the mid-60s to visit family. We visited a relative who grew coffee as his main crop. The home was in a mountainous area of the island. As we toured the grounds and home, I was surprised that the “kitchen” was separate from the house (~6 ft). There were no doors, and only what looked to me like a half-roof. When I asked about the set up, I was told that it was to protect the house from fire in case an ember would fall on the wood floors. I am still fascinated with all I learned as a child on that beautiful island.
Sometimes, it's just easier and cheaper to tear down everything and start over. With this much remodeling, I wouldn't touch a place like this. You can build new and still keep the motif of the old "single house". But, TOH is about reworking old homes.

Why did they move the dining room to the kitchen house! They should have kept it where it was and why do all that exposed brick? This isn't a gentrified Brooklyn apartment!

Screw restoring those run-down POS houses that will take a lot more money than rebuilding them. If it were me all of those houses would be torn down and rebuilt to look original.
Now this is the TOH I grew up on when I was a kid.
huge project, can't wait to watch all the episode and see the finished products.
@@warnerrobins8542 yes that is the case for all the episodes on UA-cam but if you don’t watch it on PBS then you haven’t seen it yet.
I grew up coming here on the weekends..😊
Things sure have beautifully changed since the 60's...

I enjoyed the series...binge watched it. So sorry about Austin, a lovely young man.
It's amazing how those 2 dumps can be saved. I'm sceptical but let's see how it plays out. If it were me I'd bring in the cat D9.
That's what I would do. If it were me all of those houses would be torn down and rebuilt to look original.
I love it when this old house goes to Charleston South Carolina.!
It’s literally the first time they have. You have a comprehension issue?
Im excited about these projects! Cant wait.
Mark Regalbuto is, without a doubt, the World's Most Interesting Man.
"absolutely"
Lmao he speaks like such an alien compared to the crusty boston accent and his genera cadence.
Almost reminds me of Adrian Pimento from Brooklyn 99, in cadence 😂
@@rickybojangles162 lol reminds me of Bob Odenkirk, but I hear you
Very excited to see these come together. This might be the biggest restorations yet.
Would have loved to have a winter home there. Lovely place. Charming.
What a beautiful city

That couple looks excited to be living in a house built and operated by slaves tho. They'll pay anything to "preserve that heritage."
TOH for the win! Huge projects!
Memories... Thank you TOH!

The contractor sounds exactly like jason mantzoukas
that's what I'm thinking but he sounds more like this actor Jason Lee
Hi TOH , Merry Christmas !!! 😊🎅🎄🎁⛄
I'd guess a solid year's work, depending on sweat equity & donated help.
10:54 - This Mark guy is kind of creepy... Like that creepy uncle your parents always said "don't go anywhere with him", LOL...
Yes put the child in the old slave quarters... nothing haunted could happen with that 😂😂
What a sad history in that town

Exactly what I'd do.
Wow ask and you shall receive huh? thanks TOH!!!

Poc and gay. How progressive. Could you please concentrate on construction toh?
Ugghh. This Old House has gone woke. Enough with the cultural politics and get on with trying to save those dumps.
Actually it's about time they covered a project for a same gender couple! That's not 'woke', that's reality in our diverse country!
What!? Come back I need y’all to work on my 🏡 😂
