You should definitely keep the retro Lego aesthetic. It works so well with the pirates theme! A white fortress and then a small town and harbour would look great together with this.
@@SaulGoodman313 With the moc already, I really want to see waves around the pirate ship and the dolphins. No way the water would be that calm. If he used a similar building technique as his Lego city diving people I think it would look really good.
As a fellow pirate ship enthusiast, here's a tip: the flags should be waving towards the front of the ship if it is sailing. The wind would be blowing in the direction the ship is moving, so the flags would be blown the other direction. VERY good looking rigging; it really brings the whole build together!
Love that you bring back another classic theme! For the palm trees: maybe you can use those ugly bottom pieces by levelling it with one layer and cover it up by a top layer?
The two flag on the top of the pirateship should be turn 180 degree because the wind comes from behind otherwise the ship can't move. Everything else is perfect!!
Is that true though? A ship can sail in winds coming at it from the front. Maybe they would need to be reconfigured? EDIT - you said flag but I read sail!
@@NittanyNation22 Since large sail ships use wind to propel them forward, the flags are also affected by the same wind, pointing them forward. It is much easier for the wind to move the flags forward, than to push an entire ship (using the sails), so the flags will almost always point forward. If the ship used a motor or something, then the flag would most likely point backwards (as the ship is being pushed "into" the wind, not "with" the wind). As sailboat modeling is a classic hobby, this has become common knowledge among the hobbyists. edit: If the ship was sailing towards the wind, the sails would be down. Otherwise the wind would start carrying the ship backwards.
The net building technique is absurd! I love it! And that pirate ship is awesome. All the little ropes add a lot of life and realism. Congrats on the exhibition!
the pirate cutlass pieces always make me nostalgic. when i was a kid i got a big bin of random legos from my uncle and it had a ton of cutlasses and monkeys in it and i remember doing a ton of fun stories with my pirate monkeys 😄
A pirate island is such a cool idea. The pirate ship is one of the best Lego ships I’ve ever seen. Idk what else is planned if the Pirate Bay will be quadrupled, but a small navy sloop shadowing the pirates or a grounded shipwreck would be cool additions
Seeing the moc and then the background is amazing. I was so confused for a second thinking it was a wall painting before I realized those mountains were real 11:27
Absolutely fantastic! I love it! One thing I wish you would try in this and your city is making your water more dimensional. It's always so flat, which makes the water feel pretty lifeless and still. I wish there were more rolling waves and contours to it.
You won't believe how many times I smiled during the video... The building techniques, the theming of the island, the ship, the gondola, the mountains,.... I'm so happy for you! This all look amazing, and I hope to continue seeing where all of this takes you. Great job!
@@EugeneMorgan-nj4qyI'm not exactly sure but regular PVA glue should work just fine. Its water soluble so if you ever needed to get it off you could just let the glue peices soak in a bucket of water for a bit and the glue would soften up enough to remove
I love the net building technique. I thought for a second you were going to make a giant hill out of them because it creates such a smooth gradient. Maybe one day!😂
Just a suggestion, if you do have to glue anything, glue it using a low-temp "foam safe" hot glue gun like the one from Woodland Scenics. Hot glue is super easy to undo afterwards and the lower temps won't damage the bricks.
There's nothing more appropriate for a snowy ski setting than a tropical island. Well done. Pirates is a MOC theme I would love to explore more, as it fits alongside my favourite theme, mediaeval, very effectively.
Congratulations! I’m glad you got picked to show off your MOC! Your building style is incredible and extremely detailed! Looking forward to seeing more city updates in the future too!
I would replace a few of the water tiles around the dolphins with white tiles to give the idea that they’re jumping out of the water and it doesn’t look so flat there.
A pirate bay area!!! Holy moly this makes me so happy!! 🤩 I do think the ship could use a different color than yellow, it's a bit too strong. But otherwise it just looks amazing!!
Amazing bloody video, this is just ethereal and incredible. Your skiing is really professional and how you brought your moc up on a ski lift to a convention was nuts.
There's got to be a way to use the base of the palm trees but cover it. I had a couple pirate sets with those things, I didn't realize they were discontinued! So pricy! It looks like you had about as cool a day as anyone could up on the mountain. Congrats on being featured, you deserve it!
When I was eight, I was desperate for the Lego Pirate ship, but it was a lot of money, we couldn't afford it. The one they have now is rubbish by comparison. This is magnificent ❤❤❤❤
Finding innovative new ways to torture yourself with massive 1x1 builds as always! If you don't like the look of the palm bases you can "bury" them in the sand by a plate and then use angled plates to mostly cover them. Or I think a peg or Technic pin or something would fit in the center, which you could then attach more securely?
oh I *adore* this, I really want lego to bring back their pirates theme and that ship is gorgeous. I really hope to see more lego sailing ships to populate the bay! I also really like how the ship you have now looks very early age of sail, very 1600s-y with that big quarterdeck and the forecastle, along with that spritsail.
Small suggestions; you could secure the palm trees in a 2x2 plate with a hole in the middle and a technic pin. The treasure being dug up might be more recognisable and be a cool detail if you could make the hole deeper so the whole chest could be there, slightly open, showing some gold or other.
Awesome new project! Quick question, would you consider a LEGO Icons Castle System-style table/project next? (Think: Lion Knight’s Castle and Medieval Town Square style MOCs?) P.S. Castle fans upvote plz
Ahoy-yee-mateys! Love the pirate theme. That ship and island are awesome. But wouldn't expect anything less from you as all your builds are fantastic. Thanks for the mini trip up the mountain too!
Lego and a 330, only getting better my man :-), keep having fun. I absolutely love how you get to do the things you re passionate about here close to home in europe.
When you first started with the nets, I wasn't sure what you were going for, but the end result looked great. We sometimes underestimate how just slight angles make things look way more interesting.
Felt like a kid watching this. Nice work! Never would have thought to use some of those techniques to build like that when I was younger. And I thought I was clever putting tiny remote-control engines (from helicopters) in Lego cars and sending them into walls lol.
Love the island build, your techniques always blow me away! And If at all possible, I'd love to see either a minifigure or other reference to Edward Kenway from Assassin's Creed 4!
This was your craziest video yet. That net building technique? The angles on the pirate ship? Building LEGO on a mountain?!
hard agree! that net tech was mental lol
fr that boat was crazy

You should definitely keep the retro Lego aesthetic. It works so well with the pirates theme!

The flag on the bowsprit aswell

But when the ship is moving the flags would flow behind because of the air the ship is moving through

Definitely add a bow wave to the ship- it looks odd without it

The different shades of brown under the water really add to the perceived depth!
